    What if I have a question that has a new number of dividends paid out per year?

    • @ProfessorCapko
      @ProfessorCapko  9 месяцев назад

      I'd have to see the problem you are working on, but in general, you would just use the new amount of dividends and put it into the calculation the same way.

    So what is the formula of preferred stock?

  • @vkrgfan
    @vkrgfan Год назад +1

    What if you don't know the total distribution amount and you only go by balance sheet Total shareholder's equity, Dividend yield (%), the dividend per share price $ and the number of Common and Preferred shares? How would you find the amount of common dividends paid?

    • @ProfessorCapko
      @ProfessorCapko  Год назад +1

      If you know the share price and the dividend yield you just rearrange the formula. Dividend yield equals dividends over share price.

    How do you calculate dividend withholding tax

    • @ProfessorCapko
      @ProfessorCapko  8 месяцев назад

      Divident withholding tax depends upon the taxability of the dividends, the amount of the dividends, and the tax bracket of the individual. I would have to do a whole video on it if there is sufficient interest. Channel Members get priority on getting videos made.

    Can common stock come out negative?

    • @ProfessorCapko
      @ProfessorCapko  9 месяцев назад +1

      In general, no. This is calculating dividends per share. Are you getting a negative dividend per share?

    • @nm93932
      @nm93932 9 месяцев назад +1

      @ProfessorCapko yes. I made a mistake, I was looking into common stock, which would be 0 dividend, not negative. As you mentioned, prefer are paid first.
