I have both the Canon and the LX10/15 - the G7X/2 has the 24-100mm F1.8 so a bit longer range - but the LX10/15 gives a cleaner and shaper image and has F1.4 at 24mm so great in low light - the other point is the LX10/15 has the post focus - 4k burst features - and stacking focus - The LX10/15has so so so much nicer interface - menu system - the one in the Canon is really frustrating - the LX10/15 has soft 5 Fn buttons which is so great - and of course no 4k in the Canon both are nice - but the LX10/15 just so much more fun to use and sharper images and F1.4 at 24mm - I do own the Sony RX100 and RX100m4 and the G7Xm2 and Lumix ZS100 and the LX10/15 - to me the Lumix LX10/15 and ZS100 are the most fun to use - The RX100m4 just overheats at 3-5min - almost useless for 4k - the Lumix LX10/15 and ZS100 can record 4k no issues - and yes you demonstrate that the image is sharper on the Lumix cameras - video quality very nice - for size and weight one cannot ask for more - both in 4k and HD - Yes the RX100m4 and RX100m5 have few more video features and the EVF - but then again are $300 more and actually both suffer from overheating - and have a max of 5 min recording time - and in warm weather my RX100m4 overheats at 3min and one has to wait quite a while - so not practical in 4k - I prefer the Lumix menu system - their Touch LCD is fantastic - 5 Soft Fn keys which is fantastic - Post focus - 4k burst modes and the F1.4 at 24mm just fantastic - I also like their Custom mode design much nicer - C1 C2 C3 vs Sony - also more science modes etc - One thing that Lumix does well is their Face/Eye detection - just fantastic - I use it all the time
Hi! thanks for the video! What is your oppinion regarding photography quality differences between the LX15 and the G7x ii ?? which would you consider to be better? Best regards
Great informative video! I was leaning on getting the Canon gx7ii but after watching this video I'm sold on the Panasonic. I'm so branded with Canon... but looks like the Panasonic is a winner here. And can't go wrong with 4K. Good work! Thanks!
The Panasonic is much better, the 4K does show a lot more detail, the audio in both camera were the same, the crop factor in the Panasonic is the only bad thing I can say about it but it is not a deal breaker. I think that Panasonic should have put a microphone port in the camera that would have made it perfect! I did notice that the Panasonic did have a bit softer color compared to the Canon but at the end when you switched the setting the colors really jumped out! Great video Dave.
Is this Pan LX10/15 have 5-axis OIS for 4K? I thought I read in the specs that this will only work for HD video and that 4K only uses the stabilisation in the lens. Do you agree?
Thanks for your video- trying to decide between panasonic G85, sony rx100 v and panasonic lx 10/15 for a vlogging camera- I see you checked out the G85 in another review on what I beleiev is your other channel- do you have an opinion on which is best- I'm already heavily invested in m43 lenses though not many on the wider end & having AF for vlogging purposes- I love the fact the sony has the fastest AF (vital for fast moving vlogging), shoots 24 fps RAW stills, up to 1000 fps slow mo in HD, shoots 4k too (though overheats after 5-10 mins), fast fixed lens on the wide end (f1.8), auto ND filter & shoots in pretty high bitrates (surpised as for FHD the G85 only offers up to 28 Mbps for some reason- my old GH3 offers up to 72 Mbps)- like teh G85 in that I'll be able to us emy other panny lenses though for a decent wide angle vlog I'd need to invest further in a wide aperture wide angle AF vlogging lens.. the LX10 is appealing as I'm familair with panasonic, shoots 4K without limit (not sure about what the FHD bitrates are- do you?) and even faster fixed lens (f1.4) on the wide end but looking at some other real world vlogging on the go the LX10's AF often is slow or the subject is out of focus and background in focus.. can you tel me anything more on teh image stabilization options the LX10/15 offers - does it compare to the G85's? Thank you
GeekVloggz ended up getting both the g85 and Sony rx100v.. the former combined with the 15mm f1.7 lens and ride video mic pro for absolute best image image and sound and the latter for lightweight, portability/take where, the AF on the market (essential for vlogging), up to 1000fps slow Mo and 24 fps RAW stills shooting
wow, the LX15 looks very similar to the ZS100, even down to the button layout on the back. I would trade the EVF on my ZS100 for the flip screen. I find the ZS100 has the same slippery feel. I like that the aperture tops out at f2.8 which on the ZS100 widest is 2.8 and tops out at 5.9. I may consider next year selling my ZS100 and buying the LX10. Need to see more reviews.
Not a very good camera comparison. They are both shot separately at different times in the video. And you will not see a side by side comparison except at 8:10 (one image).
I really can't decide either, I am between the RX 100 and the LX10. My wife is having a baby and I want to have the perfect compact camera to catch every moment. Price is not the problem, I just want the best. After watching this however, I am thinking now the Mark II. This is so tough. I did like the 4K of the LX10 and shooting without overheating but that stabilization is awful. I like the Mark II but the image quality in pictures I don't think are as good as the Sony. Maybe the Sony is the best if you want the image quality and 1080p recording without worrying about 4K. I think I am dropping the LX10 and now considering Canon vs Sony. What do you think the best would be for capturing family events no matter where you are? Video and Pictures?
It seemed to me that the audio was much better on the G7x than on the LX15. On the Lumix you could hear a lot of "tincan" sound, typically from, IMHO, not-so-good-mikes. The G7x sound was, to me, more and better equalized; ie. the midrange was not as predominant as that of the LX15. And no im not a canonfanboy - Im thinking of byuing a LX15 also. What is you opinion?
Thanks for sharing nice video footage. Quality looks great! Since you tested this camera, I'd like to ask if it could be a good choice for quality youtube videos. I don't mean only vlogging, but also reviews, unboxings, cooking etc? I know 4k is more than enough but I mean autofocus. I watched Panasonic G7 or GH4 and they tend to hunt when focusing on a person for instance when sitting behind the desk. I noticed the last part of your video was when you sat and camera focused on your face, and I noticed no hunting, though the duration of this was rather short. Can you tell me if I can expect AF hunting in similar situations - sitting behind a desk talking etc?
Well hold on... I have to agree with one of the comments below. The audio is way better with the Canon with headphones on. Audio is Key for me. Hmm. Got me thinking again
Still good footage by the Panasonic. I guess it's just a little more work in post. But... the less work with editing is better. Thanks for the video regardless.. Good stuff.
Pretty sure that the Panasonic has no (or limited) image stabilization in 4k video recording, only up to 1080p. No deal breaker for me. Also Panasonic is offering a free 3 year warranty (on the US website) if the camera was purchased through an authorized dealer. You have to mail in a form and receipt by 3/31/2017 ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/camera/warranty/panasonic_lumix_extended_warranty_2017.pdf
From a review: when shooting 4K UHD video (or High-speed video), image stabilization is limited to the lens' optical stabilization, but that isn't unusual for cameras that can record 4K video. Most of us wont use 4K video anyways since you need about 5 GB of storage for every minute
Panasonic camera is better video quality. Of course if you are recording 4K ••• so wondering how it does in 1080P? That would be a better comparison even though you are not going to record in 1080P with the Panasonic.
This video should have been 2 videos .... 1 for camera compare, and 1 for vlogging about other stuff :) ... I have to agree with #comedianchris that the mic on the canon sound better (i'm also using headset) but I think I would want some more test to be sure ... I really dont know which one to pick (I just dropped the RX100V for the price)
I have both the Canon and the LX10/15 - the G7X/2 has the 24-100mm F1.8 so a bit longer range - but the LX10/15 gives a cleaner and shaper image and has F1.4 at 24mm so great in low light - the other point is the LX10/15 has the post focus - 4k burst features - and stacking focus -
The LX10/15has so so so much nicer interface - menu system - the one in the Canon is really frustrating - the LX10/15 has soft 5 Fn buttons which is so great -
and of course no 4k in the Canon
both are nice - but the LX10/15 just so much more fun to use and sharper images and F1.4 at 24mm -
I do own the Sony RX100 and RX100m4 and the G7Xm2 and Lumix ZS100 and the LX10/15 - to me the Lumix LX10/15 and ZS100 are the most fun to use -
The RX100m4 just overheats at 3-5min - almost useless for 4k - the Lumix LX10/15 and ZS100 can record 4k no issues -
and yes you demonstrate that the image is sharper on the Lumix cameras -
video quality very nice - for size and weight one cannot ask for more - both in 4k and HD -
Yes the RX100m4 and RX100m5 have few more video features and the EVF - but then again are $300 more and actually both suffer from overheating - and have a max of 5 min recording time - and in warm weather my RX100m4 overheats at 3min and one has to wait quite a while - so not practical in 4k -
I prefer the Lumix menu system - their Touch LCD is fantastic - 5 Soft Fn keys which is fantastic - Post focus - 4k burst modes and the F1.4 at 24mm just fantastic -
I also like their Custom mode design much nicer - C1 C2 C3 vs Sony - also more science modes etc -
One thing that Lumix does well is their Face/Eye detection - just fantastic - I use it all the time
Thanks for adding your feedback. Very useful to people viewing this.
john hallgrimsson can i have your old g7x
Tegan Moore vlogs lmao gtfo asking people for cameras get your own one lol
Hi! thanks for the video!
What is your oppinion regarding photography quality differences between the LX15 and the G7x ii ?? which would you consider to be better?
Best regards
Which one performs better in low light conditions???
Great informative video! I was leaning on getting the Canon gx7ii but after watching this video I'm sold on the Panasonic. I'm so branded with Canon... but looks like the Panasonic is a winner here. And can't go wrong with 4K. Good work! Thanks!
Only issue with 4K is the crop on the Panasonic.
Thanks Darren, I was really happy to see how crisp it was in the edit.
It has been a few days. Anything new? I am still torn between the GX7 Mark II, LX10 and RX100 V, What do you think?
Hard choice. My upcoming video might help as it features the Sony.
I am having such a hard time choosing between these two cameras… and the RX100 III.
Hard choice for sure.
They are both very good. I'd be thrilled with either.
:D
Looks really good. I'm glad to see more companies release portable cameras with one inch sensors.
:D thanks Kevin. Let's just hope it does not go wrong :/
Best of luck Dave. Hope it all work out ok for you. I'm still surprised Panasonic aren't sending you the battery they advertised.
I could not take the lack of customer support. Camera returned.
Does it still crop in when shooting 1080 60 or is that only when shooting 4K?
Is this Pan LX10/15 have 5-axis OIS for 4K? I thought I read in the specs that this will only work for HD video and that 4K only uses the stabilisation in the lens. Do you agree?
Some say not for 4K, but the symbol for IS was showing on mine.
post focus and a Leica 1.4f lens for more light, and 4k is a must have camera for me. thx
Awesome, thanks.
Thank you
If weight is not an issue I would choose the G80/G85 for sure, great detail and flexibility of changing lenses.
GeekVloggz ended up getting both the g85 and Sony rx100v.. the former combined with the 15mm f1.7 lens and ride video mic pro for absolute best image image and sound and the latter for lightweight, portability/take where, the AF on the market (essential for vlogging), up to 1000fps slow Mo and 24 fps RAW stills shooting
whats best for stills.
Either is fine.
Hi, can you pinch to zoom pictures when reviewing them on the lx15 screen, like you can on smartphones?
I really forgot to test that.
Would rather have seen stabilization in use, if only for a bit. Seems pretty important for Vlogging.
:D agreed.
What about the zoom? How many is it all together, the optical and the digital? Thank you!
The zoom is much better at g7x mark II
can you adjust the AF sensitivity like with the Panasonic G85?
Not tested that yet, I think not.
Hi do you know how to see the shutter count on the lx15 please?
wow, the LX15 looks very similar to the ZS100, even down to the button layout on the back. I would trade the EVF on my ZS100 for the flip screen. I find the ZS100 has the same slippery feel. Thanks John, it's a great little camera.
can u make a video g7x ii vs lx15 side by side. 1080p 60fps . daylight lowlight . thank you.
Thanks for your request. I cannot promise, but will see what I can do.
the glamoure can u tell me 60fps vs 30fps?? Should I always use 1080-60 on my g7x2?
amazing video! keep it up!
Thanks.
Is it possible to put on a lense cap?
No.
Why would you need a lens cap? The lens cover closes when you turn the camera off.
Nice looking camera Dave. Colours appear a bit brighter and a crisper image too.
Cheers Bob, definitely more detailed.
Not a very good camera comparison. They are both shot separately at different times in the video. And you will not see a side by side comparison except at 8:10 (one image).
I do not believe the lx10/15 has any kind of image stabilization. Is that correct?
It has IS options in the menu.
GeekVloggz - have you tested the IBIS? I would love to know your thoughts, especially for walking video.
Room acoustics totally broken. You need significant echo cancellation on your walls. Forget adding more speakers until you do.
:D
GeekVloggz oh dear i may have sounded a bit harsh, not intended. lol.
About to order this little gem that is the lx15
Nice one :D
GeekVloggz 3 more days of waiting
I think 4k is great but how does IS and auto focus compare to the canon. thanks for another great video... CHEERS MATE.
IS is equal, autofocus not quite as fast.
I really can't decide either, I am between the RX 100 and the LX10. My

If colours are your thing, the Canon has a lovely look about it. The Panasonic is so detailed, but when in 4K it crops in a lot. Sony … testing soon.
9:40 tap to focus or focus ring?
Looked great to me! Nice job👍
Thank you.

I prefer the canon G7XII more contrast and colour saturation !
:D nice choice :D
Too bad the LX10/15 has no three stop ND filter like the G7 x MII. Also I don't think the LX LCD swings down like the one on the G7 X MII.
Very true.
dope vlogs i subbed you
Thanks so much :D
Panasonic camera is better video quality. Of course if you are recording 4K ••• so wondering how it does in 1080P? That would be a better comparison even though you are not going to record in 1080P with the Panasonic.
The comparison is fair, use each camera to their highest ability and output at the most common resolution ;D
can u make a video g7x ii vs lx15 side by side. 1080p 60fps . daylight lowlight . thank you.
great camera, but I only need G7X at $200.
Nice choice.
skip to vs. comparison - 7:38

Hello Russ, nice to see you here.
