  • Easy Goer had been favored to beat his West coast rival in the first two legs of the Triple Crown, but for the Belmont Stakes it was Sunday Silence who was the odds-on choice after narrow victories in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness. But Easy Goer turned the tables in the Belmont, barreling home a resounding eight-length winner in 2:26, the fastest running since Secretariat.
    Final time: 2:26

    In Charles Justice' 2008 book "Greatest Horse of All", he studied and researched the greatest horses of all time by age categories. Easy Goer was ranked the #2 all time best 3 yr old behind only Secretariat, and ahead of other great 3 yr olds Seattle Slew, Spectacular Bid, Affirmed, etc.

      Secretariat was a freak of nature which I believe was due to a heart much larger than normal horses and thus was able to pump more blood quickly through his body bringing more oxygen in than his rivals; if you could call them that, and I believe he's the only horse to ever run consecutive fractions throughout the entire race faster than the previous fractions making him on par with a machine!!!! The record feat of Secretariat's Belmont Stakes record will never be broken, but the fact that he was not good at stud proves my point and I feel that as a "normal" is concerned my #1 is The Goer"

    My friend I cannot say enough about the great Easy Goer. Have you ever asked yourself if Easy Goer ran the fractions that Secretariat did what would his time be. Great stamina, for sure Easy Goer had it in spades but Secretairat was in a zone all by himself in his Belmont win.He set 3 world records and tied one in his run.One of his world records was being pulled up a entire furlong, One not from the chute & the one he tied was not from the chute. Hail to Easy Goer. ONE hell of a HOSS as well.

    Easy Goer was my favorite horse. His mom was my favorite before he displaced her. I really believe that bad rides from Pat Day cost EG the Preakness, the Breeders Cup Classic and possibly the Derby too. This ride was the one exception. How Day didn't keep him closer with an earlier move in the BC Classic is beyond comprehension after it worked so well here. Day always rode him with overconfidence. I wonder if he had a more aggressive as opposed to a patient jockey what could have been for EG. Still a Hall Of Fame all time great.

    • @echauncey12

      Absolutely my sentiment too, Days rides in the earlier races with him breaking The Goer too late were indeed frustrating and for all involved it will always be a case of what might have been! I still think Sunday Silence should have been disqualified in the Preakness for interference in the stretch but we know who the superior horse ultimately was!!!!

    Never forget that it means as much or as little as all the scoreboards always reading (and never forgetting) Noor 4, Citation 1; Beau Purple 3, Kelso 1; Cabrini Green 4, John Henry 0; Darby Creek Road 3, John Henry 0; Gallant Bloom 4, Shuvee 1; Akureyri 3, Pleasant Colony 1; Big Spruce 2, Forego 1; Damascus 2, Dr Fager 2; Formal Gold 4, Skip Away 2; Billy Kelly 8, Sir Barton 4; Star of Cozzene 3, Kotashaan 1; and an endless amount more. In the Test of the Champion drug-free Belmont Stakes Easy Goer killed s.s; like heart-filled drug-free wheat separating from heart-less drugged chaff, the heart-filled drug-free cream rose to the top. Never forget. Easy Goer ran drug-free in the only state in the entire country at the time which banned all drugs, which banned all performance enhancing drugs; while the drug-reliant and corrupt crooked criminal crook juicer doper veterinarian Alex Harthill-reliant s.s. got exposed badly and romped when he was forced to run drug-less with no-drugs at all. Never forget. The great drug-free Hall of Fame champion Easy Goer showed the world how to obliterate the drug-reliant sunday silence. The litmus test of a champion is running and winning drug-less without any performance enhancing drugs; and during that era New York was the only state in the entire country that banned all drugs. Plus, as importantly, New York didn't allow the magic man corrupt crooked criminal crook juicer doper veterinarian of s.s. Alex Harthill [arrested an endless amount of times for illegally doping/juicing an endless amount of horses] to perform his magic and juice the drug-reliant and magic man corrupt crooked criminal crook juicer doper veterinarian Alex Harthill-reliant s.s. During that era, it was a huge credit to NY [and the rest of the whole world] that the endless amount of their championship G1 races stood as humongous, gigantic obstacles to drug-dependent horses like s.s.; and these horses, like s.s. and many others, got exposed badly when they were forced to run drug-less with no-drugs at all. Never forget. ONLY no-drugs drug-less races were/are true championship races. Only the drug-less no-drugs races could/can be called championship races. No-drug races kept/keep the outcomes crystal clear. No-drug races are the only true tests of champions. Never forget. That is integrity, honesty, fair play and complete fairness for all. The drug-free Hall of Fame Champion Easy Goer was the better horse than the drug-reliant and corrupt crooked criminal crook juicer doper veterinarian Alex Harthill-reliant s.s. In the drug-free EG's few very slim losses by the narrowest of margins to the drug-reliant s.s., s.s. needed all of his performance enhancing drugs administered to him and still only beat him by the slimmest of margins. Plus, The drug-free Easy Goer won G1 races at 7f, 1 mile, 9f, 10f and 12f drug-free with much less time and rest between races and running many more races at more fluctuating, different distances in faster times with far superior speed figures and performance ratings; while the drug-reliant s.s. only won G1 races at 9f to 10f with his ped drugs and much more time and rest between races and running far less races. And most importantly, Alex Harthill confessed to illegally giving illicit, illegal performance enhancing drugs to s.s. I quote the DRF for the factual truths: "Harthill, toward the end of his life, was BOLD ENOUGH to tell Jay Hovdey of the Daily Racing Form how he illegally gave numerous horses (including Clenbuterol to SS) illegal drugs. Sunday Silence's veterinarian Alex Harthill ADMITTED illegally breaking the laws in enhancing his horses performances. In DRF articles in recent years & in the last few years of his life, SSilence's vet Alex Harthill ADMITTED to illegally using the immensely effective performance enhancing bronchodilator clenbuterol regularly in the 1980's 15 years before it was approved by the FDA on his horses, INCLUDING using it on sunday silence. SS's vet Alex Harthill introduced the incredibly effective performance enhancing bronchodilator Clenbuterol in the 1980's & illegally administered it to Sunday Silence, who benefited immeasurably by its immensely effective performance enhancing effects. The drug Clenbuterol performed miracles for horses who made inexplicable improvements with major enhancements in performance. The drug Clenbuterol has a similar effect on the body as epinephrine & amphetamines by increasing the production of epinephrine & noradrenaline & thus significantly enhancing performance; clenbuterol also thins blood & widens the vessels that carry oxygen, so the volume of oxygen in the blood increases & thus significantly increases energy & thus significantly enhances performance; plus clenbuterol dramatically reduces body fat by causing rapid fat burning. The drug Clenbuterol performed miracles for horses who made inexplicable improvements with major enhancements in performance.
    Some of Harthill's other favorite magic making performance enhancing drugs were Etorphine (infinitely more powerful than the aspirin-like bute), Banamine (5 times more powerful than the aspirin-like bute) and Sublimaze. The drugs Etorphine and Sublimaze are drugs that give horses such a sense of euphoria and well-being that they feel like they don’t have legs. Sunday Silence's vet Alex Harthill did more cheating with drugs to win horse races than any vet in history. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration filed suit against Alex Harthill on 102 charges of possessing & using unusual quantities of controlled drugs, such as the powerful performance enhancing bronchodilator Clenbuterol, powerful steroids, loop diuretics, extremely powerful painkillers & very strong amphetamines, etc. Alex Harthill & raceday performance enhancing drugs have led to the destruction of integrity in North American racing. Harthill was at the vanguard of giving drugs to horses that were used to vastly enhance their performances, & they were remarkably effective turning good horses into great horses, bad horses into good horses, slower horses into faster horses, horses with no business winning doing so, & causing horses to run far over their heads. Harthill was a vet who had stolen a 30 length lead in the race to discover drugs that would significantly move up racehorses, & Harthill had no hesitancy in using whatever was available. Harthill was a magic man vet practicing the dark arts of racehorse manipulation. Harthill was arrested many times (Kentucky, Illinois, Louisiana, NY,etc) for tampering, bribery & doping horses with drugs. The drugs were & are so potent that their use or nonuse dramatically alters horse's performances (including SS). Sunday Silence's vet Alex Harthill did more cheating with drugs to win horse races than any vet in history." Besides Harthill admitting it to the DRF, there is the CERTAINTY of MOUNDS of more evidence regarding Harthill's illegalities. Never forget indeed.

I was trackside that evening and it was one of the most exhilarating experiences I've ever witnessed, horse racing or not!!! What might have been for this phenomenal horse hadn't it been for being basically knocked into the rail by Sunday Silence in the Preakness (Should have been disqualified) and Pat Days riding in both the Preakness and the Kentucky Derby were suspect especially with the Goer being a true closer and breaking him too late, not to take away from Sunday Silences success, however I felt that horse was one dimensional and The Goer was the superior horse and I cashed my tickets on him that day I had every last cent I owned on him that's how confident I was he'd succeed in his endeavor of knocking the triple crown contender off, regardless of Pat Days previous mishandling!!! @EasyGoer-e3z I have respect for SS even though I felt he was one dimensional he was still superior to the rest of the competition and the Goer obviously suffered greatly from the poor tutelage of Day's riding and properly breaking and encouraging him too late in the Derby,Preakness and the ultimate poor ride in the Breeders Cup which at a mile and a quarter was ideally setup for the a Goer to win even with Sunday Silence's performance which was indeed a good one showing staying power in the end after stalking and overcoming the speed, but Day blew the day again, running out of ground with an ever closing monster he kept from glory once again and I find that sad for the Goer's connections, especially Shug who must've been heartbroken with so much lost opportunity❗️🐎🐎🙏🏼 Pissed about them tearing up Belmont I've been going to for so many years and ludicrous no Belmont Stakes on Long Island, takes away from the game, but I guess it's progress and have to attract new fanbase with new updated grandstand and track surfaces. Secretariat's "machine" record Belmont would never be broken anyway with that freak of nature running each consecutive fraction faster than the previous one, which is only accomplished by a machine, thus that moniker and "freak of nature" ‼️ Happy Racing❗️❗️❗️🐎🐎🙏🏼

Day didn't say he got tired until about 100 yards from the wire in late stretch which was fully expected b/c of the record spilts and record pace. EG was unable to pull away earlier in the stretch b/c he was trapped,pinned in tight on the rail as Day states clearly.

    That's like me stating that the definition of steadied in the dictionary means "unfaltering,direct,unwavering" and comparing it to racing terminology. "Trapped" in the dictionary also means "a confining or undesirable position from which is escape is very difficult." That would be close to what is meant. The definition of "In tight" means "being in a place or spot of constriction and cramped" which would be close to what is meant. & "banged" means "to strike and bump repeatedly."

    I was wrong about Slew's 19 3/5? Bold Forbes got beat by 4 lengths! I was wrong about Tank's P,Chief's Crown,Gate Dancer,Louis Q, Bid's final times? I NEVER mentioned Affirmed b/c it was off a slow pace. I was indeed wrong about DF and Dam. off of slower paces coming home, but not the others.

    Stevelkd is one of your usernames. Whatever you say about if you do or don't use it anymore is irrelevant because you encouraged me to call you Stevelk, when I preferred just Steve. You not only said Stevelk was fine to call you, but YOU ENCOURAGED it. You wouldn't have encouraged it very very recently if not.

    Back to the point, Easy Goer's record move in a 9.5f race has nothing to do with DF's in an 8f race. Neither does EG running a lot of races faster than DF, neither does the fact that when DF ran blistering fast in 10f races vs. Damascus, he lost by 10 lengths and over 2 lengths. Pat Day's "total pilot error" in the Preakness was not for not sustaining moves, it was for many,many other mistakes as his trainer Shug cited and stated in the Ron Indrisano article.

    YOU ENCOURAGED me to call you STEVELK. You said it right in your comment on this video!! There is the proof. Proof that YOU ENCOURAGED me to call you STEVELK!

  • @flylion132
    @flylion132 12 лет назад

    I said my opinion would be that Day's many mistakes cost the better horse to be beaten very narrowly by a whisker and desperate neck in these two races. That would be my opinion whether Day said "it was absolutely rider error and I got the better horse beat", "I gave him a breather when ss went around the far turn","I didn't ride one of my good races" "put out the fire of a champ in full flame", "Day GRABBED him and EG didn't understand,then Day was content to sit" and corroborated it or not.

    @flylion132 12 лет назад

    I have to work today. I simply don't have the time to go through many many videos over the last few years where I called you Steve from California. Those comments go so far back and are on many different videos going back years and there were others who have been calling you by your first name and state over these years also. It may be darn near impossible, plus over the last few years you never told anyone you had any problems with it. To ask people to go far back isn't feasible to me.

  • @PatWaitAllDay
    @PatWaitAllDay 12 лет назад

    How in the heck does "completing a move" mean sustaining record splits? Read Ron Indrisano's article quoting Shug McGaughey to find your answer.

  • @PatWaitAllDay
    @PatWaitAllDay 12 лет назад

    If EG gets beat a nose not going on with it, how far does EG win by if he opens up 4 lengths instead of being given a breather running with Houston on the turn? Even taking into consideration that every horse will eventually get tired in late stretch having run record splits into a record mile pace that EG ran. Let's assume EG would have gotten tired in late stretch either way,if he opens up 4 & does not get trapped,pinned on rail, he wins no matter getting tired. That I believe is Shug's logic

  • @flylion132
    @flylion132 12 лет назад

    Funny how Steve from N. California studies his DRF Champions book pp's and yet he doesn't look at the pp's or video to see how many lengths a horse is off the pace. Actually, I have been over these final times of many horses with Steve from N.California many many times over the past year. Once again, he has been over this subject and topic,as well as every other for the last year many many times.

  • @flylion132
    @flylion132 12 лет назад

    That is not a translation at all. Read Dave Joseph's article Nov. 5, 1989 Sun Sentinel. Day clearly states in his own quote, "When SS went around the far turn I GAVE HIM a BREATHER." Day says it himself, there is no translation.

    Pat Day rode??? Pat Day? Day was the one who positioned EG 1 length behind SS in all 3 Triple Crown races. Yes thats right Steve Like from California. EG was positioned by Day 1 length or so behind SS in the Preakness,Belmont. He broke much worse from the gate in the Preakness and was still 1 length behind SS. He broke good in the BC, His drifting in towards the gap at the start of the BC only cost him a few lengths at most:The rest was Day grabbing a hold,content to sit & wait as Shug stated.

  • @flylion132

    You are correct. West coast biased Steveldk would have been more appropriate, and absolutely would not have been against any policy. But the point was a first name and a state that a person lives doesn't reveal anything. There are countless persons with a first name in every state. But as I said, west coast biased Steveldk would have been okay.

    Easy Goer ran the fastest 2 and 3 year old races since Secretariat. Easy Goer was injured after only a few starts at the age of 4. It is not his fault that he was injured after a few starts at 4 & it was not his fault he did not run in an age forced to carry large imposts.It is not his fault that he was clearly a far superior horse than your Dr Fager, or Kelso or Forego at the age of 2 and 3. EG still conceded 12 to 19 lbs. running wire to wire running another near tr. record in the 10f Suburban

    I forgot to tell you also. Steve from N.California has put false words into my comments numerous times before. There is a word or saying why people do that.

  • @PatWaitAllDay
    @PatWaitAllDay 12 лет назад

    Dude he was right, you really do enjoy infinite discussions with no end. I'll end it like this for you. Go ask what the jockey Day and trainer McGaughey meant by their racing terminology when they used all these words themselves: "trapped,pinned,in tight,pushed,banged,brushed, going on with it & the race would have been over, turning head sideways, horses run much stronger and faster with their heads straight." Please they all have facebook, go ask them what they meant.

  • @PatWaitAllDay
    @PatWaitAllDay 12 лет назад

    A trainer knows his horse as much as anyone could.Take the trainer's "gone on with it" quote however you like.Why would a trainer say that the race would have been over if he would have gone on with it?Why would the trainer state that he let SS back in the race?Why would the trainer state that he was trapped,pinned in tight on the rail?Why would the trainer state that he should not have turned his head with the lead in late stretch?Why would the trainer say that horses run stronger w/heads str8?

  • @flylion132

    You're right. West coast biased Steveldk would have been much more appropriate.

    Actually speaking of this video here. You said I could alter my past comments. It is not giving me the option to alter my comments. It is only giving me the option to remove the entire comment completely. Did you say I can go back and alter past comments?

  • @PatWaitAllDay
    @PatWaitAllDay 12 лет назад

    Your answer is in the last comment quoting Shug's words from the Ron Indrisano article, June 8,1989. And you were wrong about what Shug felt. Next time, know what Shug said, and know the difference between "sustaining record splits" as you say, and "going on with it" as Shug said. "Completing a move" is A LOT closer to meaning "going on with it" as Shug said, than you putting words into my mouth about "sustaining record splits."

    @PatWaitAllDay 12 лет назад

    I know, you did warn me. Dude from Cali. Take Shug's quote of "gone on with it" whatever way your heart desiresm whatever way you want. But Day did not complete a move as you falsely state Why would Shug say he was ok with that record, early move b/c he would have been hung real wide.But his biggest mistakes were "not going on with it" after it & letting SS back in the race and getting trapped,pinned on rail & saying that he should not have turned his head as horses run much stronger w/head str8

  • @flylion132

  • @PatWaitAllDay

    Actually it's not really Pat Day bashing. Pat Day calls his own riding "complete rider error and I got the better racehorse beat." Also Pat Day indeed says he gave the horse breathers in both the Preakness and Classic. Day says all this himself.

  • @flylion132

    Nerud said he was good, not great at 3 years old. Take that anyway you want to Stevelk. Nerud also said he was "not good that day" in his Champagne loss. Nerud is frickin excuse maker like ALL OF US. How could you respect and like Nerud if he was just another excuse maker?

  • @flylion132

    Ok you encouraged me to call you Stevelk, instead of Steveldk. Stevelk is so much different than Steveldk anyways. How could I have made that mistake. Stevelk.

  • @flylion132
    @flylion132 12 лет назад

    Steveldk is/was one of your usernames. If you admitted that Steve and L & K were , why would it be a wild guess not to think D was also? Your username is/was STEVELDK.

  • @flylion132
    @flylion132 12 лет назад

    Well I have my answer. You wouldn't be asking me if it wasn't guessed correctly. If I said you were Frank from Biloxi,Mississippi I don't think you would or would have cared less. But then again, you had no problem for the last few years having quite a few people call you Steve from California. As I said, I cannot go back through a few years of comments on many videos.

  • @flylion132
    @flylion132 12 лет назад

    You yourself announcing that Steve is your first name, and L & K are letters of your last name is against youtube policy.

  • @flylion132

    That comment I meant to say though lk ,as in Stevelk, are still letters in your last name.

  • @flylion132
    @flylion132 12 лет назад

    You already accepted Stevelk because that is one of your usernames. I gave that consonant as an example. But Steve is not acceptable without the l _ k at the end because that is one of your usernames?

  • @flylion132
    @flylion132 12 лет назад

    I gave that consonant as an example. But Stevelk is acceptable because that is one of your usernames, but not just Steve without the l _ k?

  • @flylion132
    @flylion132 12 лет назад

    No, YOU ENCOURAGED me to call you STEVELK. You encouraged me to call you Stevelk. Stevelkd is one of your usernames, whether you say you don't still use it or not, you did, and you know that's why quite a few people called you Steve, which is a part of one of your youtube names.

  • @flylion132
    @flylion132 12 лет назад

    Stevelk is one of your youtube usernames. Maybe you had some numbers with Stevelk, or another combination of Stevelk with something, but it's Stevelk.

  • @flylion132
    @flylion132 12 лет назад

    Here is what YOU said, "I have done nothing but encourage you to call me Stevelk." Mistake? Joke? Wild mistake?

  • @PatWaitAllDay
    @PatWaitAllDay 12 лет назад

    Why would the trainer of a horse state that if Day would have gone on with it the race would have been over? Why would the trainer of a horse state that Day let SS back in the race? Why would the trainer state that he got trapped and pinned on the rail?Why would the trainer state that he should not have turned his head with the lead in late stretch?Why would a trainer state that horses run much stronger& faster with their heads straight?Does the trainer have any knowledge of his horse or horses?

  • @PatWaitAllDay
    @PatWaitAllDay 12 лет назад

    Wrong again. Pat Day was criticized and his "total rider error" inthe Preakness was for firing EG through a record split & then not completing the move & then having the better,faster horse pinned,trapped,bumped and brushed into the inside rail & cocking his head with the lead in deep stretch &having EG run inefficiently this way. There was a lot more there than one thing.

  • @flylion132
    @flylion132 12 лет назад

    Now you are stating that one of your usernames is Stevelk, but with a consonant in the middle? Whatever? Stevelk is one of your usernames but with a consonant in the middle. Steveldk or whatever is acceptable because that is one of your youtube usernames.

  • @flylion132
    @flylion132 12 лет назад

    Yes but it is NOT a violation of RUclips policy to refer to someone by one of their youtube usernames, which in your case is Steveldk. As far as calling you Steve from California, you had no problems at all with me or other people calling you that for years now. I am not going through comments of the past years where I called you Steve from California, and you had no problem with it anyways.

  • @flylion132
    @flylion132 12 лет назад

    No, re read what I wrote. YOU REVEALED that Steve is a close facsimile to your real first name. You revealed that L & K and the letters I added were close facsimiles to your real last name. You said it yourself, "in this case, this happens to be close facsimiles to my real names."

  • @hpribot
    @hpribot 11 лет назад

    Perhaps Sunday Silence was the better horse but I always preferred Easy Goer.

  • @flylion132
    @flylion132 12 лет назад

    What? Easy Goer ran some of the fastest, if not the fastest, races run by a 2 year old and 3 year old since Secretariat! That is not a slow maturing horse. As far as his slightly slow starts, they didn't matter at all. Only that Day decided to do nothing after the slightly slow start and let him settle 12 lengths back in the Classic.

  • @flylion132
    @flylion132 12 лет назад

    This is your quote, "You don't think I am angry that one of MY(meaning YOUR) usernames is Stevelk? You are well aware that I never complained to you or anyone else being called Stevelk. You also know that the only thing I ever did in regards to this subject was to ENCOURAGE you to call me STEVELK." Those are your own words Stevelk. That is proof.

  • @flylion132
    @flylion132 12 лет назад

    That's fine, whatever. But why have multiple youtube accounts for yourself at all?
