i get goosebumps when i hear this song and how much it relates to my life. not just half a verse, a verse, this WHOLE song is me. im going to put my story out there one day i have 2 - luck
This is my fav song on the album!!! The lyrics speak the truth I loved him even when he was underground he stays true to the meaning of "real" Hip-Hop and that's what I love!!
In verse 1 and 2 The story is about a son named Dante' and he is in jail, he is calling his mom begging him to help him get out and telling her all the stuff he's going through. But in Verse 3, the mother is explaining that she cant. She is tired of thinking that he is in very deep trouble and how it was when the police came to the house looking for him. But all the mother can do is just help, let Dante' serve his time/consequences, and let god take his course.
I love it when you forget all about a song then when you find it again, it's like experiencing it for the first time all over again.

Rather see you locked up than dead
Only you would say that I'm selfish
So before I take the stand and put this bible in my hand
Son, let me say this
[Chorus]
Men lie, wo-women lie
Men lie, wo-women
Men lie, wo-women lie
Men lie, wo-women
Look at all the bullshit I been through
If I take you home, will you tell the truth?
It took me 4 years to find this song again I use to hear it in my high school days .
This song just brings me the message how much i need my mother, thank you kendrick !
IMO Kendrick Lamar is an underrated rapper, he's art is great.
Underrated? Where Tf you been at? Lol
He isn't that famous as many other rappers that suck like lil wayne.
Feliks Roizman
lil wayne hasnt been famous for 3 years lmao
Feliks Roizman Superkirbeh what the fuck are you both talkin about
.Kendrick probably biggest rapper right now besides Drake, and Lil Wayne is not that good as he used to be in Carter 2,3 days but he doesn't suck,he can still spit fire when he wants
He is underrated though, everyone should know his name just like Eminem.
My dad just hit my mom and pushed me into a wall. Money isn't flowing like it used to, my dad isn't happy ever. Always pissed off at something. I should be depressed but I have Kendrick Lamar. This song puts me in the best mood. It lets me see the world differently and that everything will be alright. Thanks Kendrick.
I hope your doing good bro
Broo ik it has been a decade but I hope you're doing so much better
Hope you are doing good. Would love to see an update
I never been thru a situation like this but this song makes me feel I was there
this song could have easily came after "sing about me/ dying of thirst" in GKMC
Why have I never heard this song wtf this shit is amazing
They hide all the good music from the masses
"Look at your reflection tell me who you see, who is your protection, G-O-D" - that bar will never get old. fucking golden bar goosebumps err time, kendrick at his finest
Mom testified against son and lied for him so he can live I think
Ugahki Wann yeah. shed rather see her son locked in prison and alive then in the streets in trouble risking his life
Why is this the only track missing from the deluxe version on Spotify
iTunes exclusive. It was like that with this song and "County Building Blues" back when the album first dropped. Not on CDs either. It's why you'll only find those two songs today on Apple Music.
@@jessiesmith6676 County Building Blues is on Spotify as a 2015 single
@@jessiesmith6676thank god i use apple music i can listen this on repeat
When I first heard this album it took from rock to rap...but it reminded of my brother..

This song homie I can’t even explain how it make me feel
Why does this song hit you right in the feels?
Man that last verse always gets me
That awkward moment when Kendrick Lamar may have predicted your death with a song
Kendrick Lamar is rap/poetry.. speaks the truth unlike alot of rappers now of days.
One of those songs I loved but never knew the name. Great intro.
Dante if I take the block off that's the day the state gone take them locks off.....shit gave me chills
can u explain?
+basedjj93 the mother isnt going to contact him until he gets out of prison.
@@AswagMouse Damn
@@basedjj93 if Dante snitches he will take the block off meaning putting his people in jail and that’s the only he will get out of jail “locks off” hope that made sense
This type of songs is the reason I think kenny is the 🐐
First time hearing this song TODAY. goosebumps man
Arguably the best song on the album
Favorite song by Kendrick.. to nice
How have i never heard this damn song.
Nico Brian "DAMN" Really?
Cuz it felt intoxicatin,
And u said lovin u is complicated.
I admit,
I even find it hard to love myself sometimes,
Walkin in darkness makes me think im blind,
Then u shined on me like a new day,
With a new day, burnt me the same flame,
I kinda felt neglected, but still trusted my reflection, makin me buy yo heart, like its a commodity, sould've seen the message,
Fuck all yo flexin,
My eyes outshining your rollexes,
My heart is stretchin, thoughts is tangled,
This is more than I can handle,
I can't let go,
Imma let the night eat me alive,
Just remember that my love was devine,
May be one you'll wake up, and find out that yo face cant save ya no mo .. no mo
Men lie, wo--women lie
Men lie, wo--women lie
Men lie, wo--women lie

Damn🤔
Prodigyxbari I was saying “damn” emphasizing how long it’s been
basedjj93 yeah I was just talking about the album D.A.M.N which u commented b4 it came out
Prodigyxbari ohhhh I see. My comment aged well
This song reminds me of getting locked up. Kendrick is so fucking real peace king👑
You're telling me this was on G.K.M.C??
right!
Damn, how I miss it?! RAW as fuck, right!
yeah, on the iTunes edition
***** Ah I copped the disc
***** Yeah not the record though, I got the CD. Just ordered the record though purely for this track. (Plus it's an ill album anyway!)
