  • While at the Pimax booth during CES 2024 I got the chance to try an interesting OpenXR plugin called DLVR from Almalence that actually increased the already amazing clarity of the Crystal VR headset even further! In this video I talk to Dan Sakols from Almalence and he explains how this works.
All I can say is this made a noticible difference and if you own a Pimax Crystal you really need to check this out! You can learn more about Almalence DLVR or grab a copy of the demo here:

I dont think people realize how big this is, its either this or more complex multi element lenses.
Really shows how important eye tracking is in VR headsets, how much it can do.

Thanks..... I've never really done a lot of these interviews style videos but I kind of enjoy this format and might start doing it more often.

Great, I heard it makes the sweet spot much bigger and even the peripheral vision clearer as they have tested and shown on graphs. This is something Pimax need to incorporate into their VR headset.

It really does and I was amazed at the difference. Also, I couldn't agree more.... Pimax needs to add this to PiPlay right now!!!

I've been using the demo in DCS, it's pretty impressive. Hope that we see adoption by Pimax, it's definitely a mutually beneficial relationship.

Yeah I know that is something that the team from Almalence is really pushing for as well.. we all need to make our voices heard loudly to pimax directly that they need to add this to pie play ASAP!

@@vrgamerdude if you set your computers date back before the expiration deadline it works again, but that causes other odd issues with your pc. But that tells me the plug-in can be hacked.

12k 5090, 2025. Don't need stand alone features Pimax. I'd argue against wireless and having to deal with batteries too. Wired VR = Uninterrupted VR. Lets just hope game developers understand that gamepad = wired vr.

Yeah I agree the standalone is a gimmick and they should just remove it but I will say while at CES I got to try the new 60 gig Wireless and it works great!

I agree but Pimax is always kind off annoyingly all over the place. It's as if they wanted to focus on all markets, but that's impossible with a headset which cost like 3 times more then most standalone headsets. If you know your headset is for the highend consumer you should also ask yourself what kind of costumer is interested in your product. And many high end pc sim/gamer enthusiast warned them to not force them to use batteries, but hey it's Pimax.
Honestly I would have bought the Pimax Crystal if it was also usable without batteries especially now with DFR and all the advantages it gives. Pimax is such a frustrating company, I respect there technical capability, this time they really did there best with marketing and having contact with the community and still they kind of mess it up, for me at least.
So yeah I dunno, let's see with the 12K will bring, I hope they are not overly ambitious.
