This sounds like good advice if you work for a company that gives merit raises... Which my company does not. If you do well, you get a standard anual 3% increase, which was half of inflation last year.

Sounds like it’s time to look for new employment!

Saying "if you do well" actually implies its a merit raise 😅 If theres an alternative where you may not have done well enough for the raise, then its merit based is it not?
Mine does yearly merit raises as well, that range between nothing and like 3/4%. im not sure specifically bc they dont tell us and its really hard to get anything more than a "meeting" score 🙄

@@hanamachii_ 3% is pitiful, and is a standard industry cost of living increase. If they don't match inflation, then you are effectively taking a pay cut. I scored very high - singing my praises we are so happy to have you- high, and I took a pay cut. If I perform ok and just avoid scraping the bottom of the barrel this year, I'll get that same 3%. I wouldn't call that a merit increase.

@@SeniorSundayit is pitiful, but doesnt meant its not merit based. It is merit based, but a trash company that does not care for employees

@@noveliayuki Please explain to me how it is merit based when everyone gets a flat 3%, regardless of performance.

Do I stay at a job I love for less money and barely stay afloat In the economy or get another job higher pay and not sure if I like it?

For me, option B. I don’t live to work. I work to live.

You could always try and get another job offer, and use that as leverage at your current job, either your current job gives you a raise, or you quit and get more money with the other job offer. That being said --- it's very hard to find a job you love working at. I would always choose a job I was happy at vs. the unknown. That's just me tho.

What Jess said, however it's entirely up to you.
Job satisfaction can change your life, same as money. Do you want own plenty of things and have lots and lots of money? What if your mental health is at stake?
But it can still depend on the person, like Jess here. So yahh!! Up to you if you want to work for personal satisfaction or for the bucks.

Although I rather stay (my current problem) the offer I'm about to get is considerably higher than most positions on the market now so I'm going with the new job. I can stay where I'm at but the opportunity also to make a whole lot more with some OT is also ridiculous.
