Awesome video on familial lipid disorders, making them simple! I use various mnemonics to help remember the important details about each one, to help get the question right on test day!

Forgot to mention in hyperchylomicronemia, the m in micron part of the word helps me think of "M for mono" to remember that this is type I familial lipid disorder. The boards may want you to remember which number lipid disorder it is, without giving you the full name of the disorder. Happy Studying :)
FA indicates type III is Autosomal Recessive (AR) not Autosomal Dominant (AD). A better way to understand the inheritance would be simply AR, AD, AR, AD in order from type 1-4
Thank you for letting me know! According to some papers I've read, it can apparently operate in either mode of inheritance depending on the specific gene subtype that's affected.
Thanks so much
Great explanation
you are amazing
fa said type 4 TG is more than 1000 mg /dl
Thank you for this video! Just one question-in the First Aid book they listed Type III as autosomal recessive and Type IV as autosomal dominant and you said the reverse in the video. Is there a reason for that?
Yes you are correct! That was a mistake by me Bc technically there are subtypes within each one that vary by inheritance type but it’s too complex of a scope for step 1/comlex. Just go with first aid. I’ll be making a new updated video on this topic soon.
Hey @Medical Mania, thanks for your generally helpful videos. Just wanted to suggest and ask that you please remove this video. Whether making a new one or not, I studied pretty hard from your video and then missed the questions on practice licensing exams because of the misinformation. Obviously, we all make mistakes and we know it wasn't on purpose, but it would be helpful to just remove take down the video rather than have 4,000+ students learn incorrectly. Thanks! And keep up the good work!
