Rik Hermans has the fastest..
The fastest of 44,314 pigeons belonged to Rik Hermans from Pulle. He is no stranger, as he is running the ‘De Duif’ pigeon magazine together with his father Jan Hermans. Rik’s middle distance racing team was clearly in great form, having won the first two prizes in the race from Souppes (17 May) against 1,058 pigeons, and even the first three prizes from Souppes against 2,686 pigeons one week later. In addition, Rik had quite a few early arrivals in the race from Bourges as well:
Bourges Zone B1 of 7,739 yearlings: 18-25-28-76… (11/11) Bourges Zone B1 of 5,691 olds: 47-69… (4/5)
The icing on the cake followed in the race from Chateauroux, where the one year old super class hen Friendship took an impressive win at national level. She was clocked at 17:26’31” after completing 1285 mpm, making her the fastest of all basketed pigeons with a velocity of 535.278km. Friendship was basketed as first nominated, together with ten other one year olds. She was the leader of the team thanks to an impressive palmares:
