This is where Mary J Blige career was born. Her debut album was designed by puffy to capture this vibe.
facts
TRUE THAT!!![999]
🤔Now that I think about it you're absolutely right, so technically Capri made Mary in the 80's. Dope! Ayo Kid Capri go tell Puff to cut the check and stop playing! 🤣😂✌🏽🤣😂
When I'm feeling down, I reflect on this era for inspiration.
I agree.
Yoooooooooooooo!!!!! I remember when this dropped...... Needless to say my tape popped.Lmao!!! man i miss when DJs used to actually blend. Newark NJ STAND UP!!!!

I think 96.3 kiss fm is the same as magic 100.9 fm. Wksp and wakb are the easiest stations on the radio i can listen to right there. I got their remixes and mixes on my mixes and remixes cds right there in my house.
Same 08/10/2020
S**t gave me chills!! Took me back to 89 and 90!!
Brought Stephanie Mills career back to life...
Best Days in NYC.... Classic Heat!! Young heads don't know ANYTHING about this Mix!!
No matter what age group. If u were alive in this era. The music touched u. It was real it was raw. It was quality shit hate it or love it. U respected it, the energy.. the music spoke, no gimmicky artist, the music stole the moment. Miss these days till my dying days

Word
In the late 80’s/ early 90’s, this was THE blend!
The Nostalgia is crazy....... If u didnt walk down Harlem in them days you just might never get it....
Damn right. Hearing this brought tears to my eyes. You heard this from St. Nick to Lenox.
Remember him also mixing this with " Make the music with your mouth Biz" and even " Hold on" by Envouge. This song probably has more blends than any other song because of the cadence in Stephanie's lyrics and DJ's used to love to mix this.Stephanie's strong vocals didn't hurt either!
I would say MJB - Real Love has more
this is life right here. mixtape era was amazing...thx for uploading this.
This song was on my mind hard tonight!
Say it again bubba say it again say it again

I had to hear it again watching mixtape on paramount
That description by Kid Capri is spot on. That intro was heard from 125th at and St. Nicholas Ave to Lenox Ave. I'm about to cry tears of joy and nostalgia.

Bought the reissue of the whole CD mix back in '08 in Philly and it's been on heavy rotation since then!
This was a great time to be alive. Part evolution, part destruction of our community, but memorable none the less...

Had the black Chevy Monte Carlo ( Training Day edition 😂) with 4 8 inch Pyle Driver subs and 8 piezo tweeters off the custom rear deck and the gooseneck EQ!!
This is the blueprint for blend mixes n 90s early 2000s Hip Hop n R&B‼️💯 salute to Queens tho the originator of blends💪🏾
Blends were done on Hip Hop radio shows years before this mix or song was ever thought of!!!

QUARANTINE 202000000 🧡🌟🖤💪🏽💯🔥💎🔊🎶🎵
I needed this in my life!!!!
You ever wondered if he never created this blend how long after the next dj would have ever thought about blending an acapella over a different instrumental
🤣🤣 Kid did NOT invent acapella Blends in Hip Hop!!! Blends using vocals only & with the original song were being done on radio way before 1989!!!
I remember this so well. A classic!
Glackens in The Bronx remeber the time
@GameBeats I know what you mean about blending...but the artform has always been the root of ALL DJ mixtapes in Indianapolis...you won't sell a mix here if it's not blended!
Pure classic right here
Road Trip memories
Bout to blast this shit when I get home...Facts!!!!
man I was just talking about this, Kid Capri, Ron G, S &S, Craig G, Doo Wop and the Bounce Squad, yo I think Funkmaster Flex screwed up the mixtape scene with that commercial bs he put out back in the hour, yo don't forget Lord Finesse
Thank you!!!! Memory lane!!! Don't forget Clue!!!
Flex don’t deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence

Straight Fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Summer 2022 still here
wow this bring back the good old days when i use to go to the skeate key in the bronxs when they use to play music like this and when dudes use to have the big old rope chains and the bm's....
Dope
ClasSICK!!!
There was a nicer remix one DJ did on a mixtape that had an upbeat background to it...shit was hot as hell! I used to have it on a cassette, but I can't remember the DJ or which mixtape it was on. The beat was faster than this one though. It was mixed with the same two songs "Something In the Way..." and "I've Never Knew Love Like This Before"..
DaHottz ron g
Gotta be DJ Juice
This Fire🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
CLASSIC....Brings back memories!!!!!!!!!
Ive been trying to find that one too!!! I dont know if its the same one, but I used to have a tape (similar to what you were talking about) with a version of this remix that had a more upbeat backbeat than this one, with "Something In The Way" (steph mills) - and the vocals/pianos from "Everybody Loves the Sunshine" (roy ayers) blended so amazing. ("My life-my-life-my-life") I had thought it was a very hard to find Marley Marl remix. (Only available on the Stephanie Mills single b-side.) Unsure
So refreshing
2019 & ☝🏿is still 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯
Real hiphop
Something in the way you make me feel/ never felt love like this before/ tender kisses hug me strong thru the Stromy times whisper in my left ear/ to have faith the sun will one day shine/ my heart is about to pop/ time stop
Feel me feel feel
The samples used in this mix are:
The Honey Drippers - "Impeach the President" (1973) (Drums)
The Headhunters feat. The Pointer Sisters - "God Made Me Funky" (1975) (Drums)
Syl Johnson - "Different Strokes" (1967) (vocals)
Biz Markie feat. T.J. Swan - "Make the Music With Your Mouth, Biz" (1986) (Snare)
There's one that baffles me with this tune: What's the sample at 4:56, 5:01, and 5:06? Can someone help?
Doug E.Fresh - Keep Risin To The Top
