I live in the Pacific Northwest U.S., and it rains a lot here! City streets & sidewalks are fine but there can be some VERY deep puddles. Also vehicles drive into puddles that can soak you with filthy road/rain water. In the suburbs & countryside, we can get quite a bit of moss on the roads less traveled (which is more than half the year!)-which is incredibly slippery when wet. I stick to main roads & sidewalks there to avoid falls. If you live somewhere very rainy, it pays to invest in a quality rain jacket (preferably with breathable sections for eliminating steam from sweat heat) & take good care of it. It will last you years & keep you comfortable in the rain. A cheap hack I have used in a pinch for running in rain with mobile phone: ziplock bag with paper towel inside to absorb any moisture. Kept my phone safe when I was in rainstorm w/o a waterproof case.
Hi. I live in Mumbai India and weather is usually awful(atleast I feel) May is awful but I am trying to break that mental block that I can't run in this humidity so if you could do a video on how to run in humid weather I'd be grateful
I don't know how many times I have rewound to the beggining to see Rick's intro again... If you feel down - watch Rick, whether or not you are a runner. Though by then you would have become one with the Running Channel's videos.
Much appreciated. I had been waiting for this topic. This may sound negative but can a video be made for considerations to pull out of a marathon or running events. I have been training quite regularly following a plan. I have missed some sessions. I have about 6 weeks to go to my first marathon. But I had to missed some sessions in the last week as I had to recover from a fever. I am considering on whether I can still achieve it.
Sorry to hear your marathon training's been less than perfect. I can tell you from experience that getting sick, taking time off because of injury etc etc is all part of marathon training! It happens to us all! Never try and catch up on missed sessions. Pick back up from where you got to and see how you go. As it's your first marathon, is your goal to finish? Or are you determined to do a set time? (Anna)
The Running Channel my goal is to finish. I had issues with my knee which seem resolved and I believe I know how to prevent for future incidents. My feet feel like they're going to get blisters. This is putting me off.
I Hate running in the rain because the rain hits me and it's soo cold , plus i measure my workouts in Sweat and when I im soked from the rain it's hard to tell the difference. And yes i run in a hoodie but wear a beanie do i can still see.
Vaseline's great if you just have it kicking about in the cupboard, for sure. But yes, Bodyglide and Compeed's anti chafe stick are favourites among The Running Channel gang
I can't run more than 1.5 miles in the cold because it makes my stomach hurt. I haven't been able to run 5k in a month and I am so sad. Any reason for this?
We would advise seeking help from a medical professional who will be able to diagnose the pain and recommend treatment strategies. Wishing you a speedy recovery!
You're not the only one! Anna did that once too when she wasn't able to get to her planned race, the Trimpell 20, because of the snow. Note 'once'. Never again!
@@runningchannel if you have a supportive gym the staff will refill your water bottles. It's the most continuous 20 miles I've ever done - no dodging round other runners or stopping for water. Plus I was able to watch TV, although football gets very confusing. Cycling is even worse!
Great video & that’s what I am going to do today 👍☔️🏃
Enjoy!
I was actually at a launch for the Speedcross 5
Salomon Speedcross 4 GTX keep my feet warm and dry. Glad I went for the Goretex version.
They sound ideal

Yikes! Sounds like some pretty mean weather conditions! And great additional hacks
Just a regular day about half the year here in PNW U.S.! @@runningchannel
And we thought the British weather was bad!
And now I have to go and run in the drizzle. Because I just signed up for the Cardiff HM (my first) and have no more excuses ha ha ha.
Very needed right now 😢
Just remember: skin’s waterproof!

Thanks for the request - we’ll certainly add it to the list 👍

Thanks Eve! Glad you're enjoying the intro 😁
Great information as always. Rick is hilarious btw 😂🤣
He has his moments...😂
As Anna and us northerners would do just grab ya big coat and get out there 👍
Absolutely 👍🏼

Hey guys loving the content just rewatching some old videos now! #teamrick

Vaseline? That'll wash off in the first couple of miles! Not great for your clothes either. Bodyglide or similar is far better.

Not running through puddles to begin with is a great way to avoid getting wet feet. Lol.

@@runningchannel thank you! I have found that taking advil helps a lot with preventing those special lower abdominal cramps
Raining == drive to gym. Says the guy who once did 20 miles on a treadmill!
