    How do I know which holes to come up in when I turn the corner?

      The holes that you come up in make a straight diagonal line. Check the diagram in this post (www.epidastudio.com/hardanger-tutorial-blanket-stitch/) for more information.
      As long as you are consistent in each corner, your piece will look fine.
