I think if Lombard had lived longer, she would have become a big producer/director, maybe even running her own studio. She had been working in the biz since her early teens and she was smart and savvy. She was an independent freelancer and was the highest paid actor at one time, which is saying a lot back in the 1930s. She could have broken the glass ceiling along with Ida Lupino, Mary Pickford, and other females who were working in that capacity. She could have stood toe to toe with any male counterpart in that position like Louie B Mayer or Jack Warner and not have batted an eye. I'm sure that was one of the many qualities Gable loved about her.
Agree
❤️
Yes, she had the potential but in reality the studios were run by ultra-wealthy Jewish money. She was rich but not like that.
@@szee8588 Jewish money huh? Real nice comment....that's sarcasm just in case you aren't aware.
@@nonabliss Sorry if you can't take facts. Research all the studio heads and see for yourself. In fact, research all the heads of the 6 media conglomerates today. (if you don't know what that means, look it up)
We should all thank Josephine for giving us Clarke Gable. She saw what many at the time did not see. Looking at his younger photos, neither did I, lol.
He certainly was awkward for a long time….
Kay Spreckels, his last wife, should be given a lot of credit because she never tried to replace herself with Carole Lombard, but lived with the ghost. They never mentioned that she also gave him a son. Carole Lombard was close friends with Lucille Ball, and I think that shaped Lucille Ball's future quite a bit.
Lucille Ball was a Freemason satanist communist.
They used Carole for what they wanted to use her for. So apparently she was a satanist too.
They kill any who won’t go fully along with them. Like Marylin Monroe, Michael Jackson was turning against them, Robin Williams, Joan Rivers....Senator Nancy Schaffer, JFK, n etc.....
They were all freemasons but these were traitors in their attitudes n not fully of these satanists n cracked their mouths against this secret society.
The beast is here.
@Dave La Violette: I actually read, in the 2016 book, "Fireball", that she, Kay, TRIED to BE Carole Lombard and that was why Clark Gable was attracted to her. Clark Gable kept the ranch he and Carole Lombard had, (on Hollywood Boulevard, no less!!), until his death, but once he died, Kay sold it right away.
@@joyceobeys6818 You are missing several dots off your dice.Go get some help soon!
@@joyceobeys6818 if indeed, "they kill any who won't go fully along with them", they'll have to kill 10,000x more than they keep. Doesn't sound like a very plausible scenario for taking over the world.
Be positive!
@@Missditabomb Clark and Carole's ranch was on Petit St. in Encino, CA. She bought it from Raoul Walsh for $50,000 because Gable didn't have the cash up front at the time.
Beautiful love story, thank you so much for making this.
My Man Godfrey is One of my fav movies which I have watched hundreds ? of times 😉☺️😆 Carole is my absolute fav in every room !
I have the DVD ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Great story.
My mom was named after this lady. She embodies her completely
Thank you for posting this. At 38:04 Gable is referred to as "friend-husband Clark Gable". This was the secret to their happiness. Friends and lovers.
I agree. Celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary this year, I can honestly say that my hubby is both too❤️
But yet he couldn't be faithful. Who knows? That's what the other videos say.
@@szee8588 Profound insight on your part.
@@szee8588 Who said he was NOT faithful to Carole? YOU love unproven rumors, were you a witness to that?
I love their love story. What a sad end.
I literally love the Golden era❤️
Yes it was great
I really like this RUclips Channel. Good documentaries!
Gable and Crawford did 8 films together, not 6.
Possessed was their third film together. Another gaffe
Tom C Unfortunately inaccuracies are the norm these days rather than the exception. It’s easy as heck to find out Gable did 8 films with Crawford! TCM played all 8 at one point and I recorded them. Plus they’re even on Wikipedia under Gable’s filmography and Crawford’s. Someone ought to correct this factual error.
I never found Crawford THAT attractive, don't know what people saw in her, I guess she was lucky to be in the right place and the right time.
@@szee8588 Thanks for your enlightening remark. I suppose it didn’t have a thing to do with talent, not at all. Her career only spanned the 20s 30s 40s 50s and 60s. And yes she was very beautiful in natural features. Very much like a Greek sculpture- straight nose, big expressive blue eyes, arching brows, beautiful cheekbones. You should look at her 1930s and 1940s work especially. The 50s had some horrible hairdos and makeup but by the 60s she looked incredible again, particularly for an older woman.
There’s home movie footage on here that proves her natural beauty easily. Mostly around 1942…
This documentary lost me with the tabloid BS story of Lana Turner. Also, Lombard had planned to take the plane home well before she left on the Bond Tour. Someone should have researched the historical material better.
Agreed, the supposed "Lana affair" was and is ALL rumor (no substance) that she herself denies in her autobiography. And she'd admitted to some scandalous behavior in that book.
I love the stronger women in movies and many times they are tom boys yes
"She's the sorta girl WE WISH would move in next door to us" -- she's the sorta girl that basically starts a PARTY just by walking into the room"

Mr. Selznick looks very much like his maternal grandfather.
I was thinking the same.
Thanks for the upload! I just wonder why they didn't even mention that his 3rd wife was pregnant with his son at the time of his death..
5th wife
@@rockywood21 Yes,Carole Lombard was Gable's third wife,it was his fifth wife who gave him a son,who was born after Gable's death.
Such a sad story
After loosing his wife and coming back from the war he couldn’t fake being the happy go lucky guy.
.
[6:25] LOL!
The blame has been put on Carole's shoulders for being in rush to get back to LA. But she wasn't the one flying the plane, nor was she the air traffic controllers who turned off the airport lights out of fear of being bombed by the Japanese. Let that sink in. Sure, she was in a rush; sure, she had a jealous streak, but she didn't fly the plane into a mountain. But let her death be a lesson: no matter how angry you are at your spouse, tell them what's in your heart before you leave for the day. Because you may never get another chance.
Rumor 1) There was never a Rush to leave the bond tour and return to LA. Rumor 2) Air traffic control did not turn off runway lights. Rumor 3) There was never this so-called fight between her Gable before her trip. There’s plenty of other rumors to the story, but just addressing the ones you brought up.
If anyone is interested, FIREBALL, BY ROBERT MATZEN, is an excellent book, well written. I read it in three days.
So much fiction in that book. Well written? Yes. Factual? No way.
Lombard's agent in 1935 was Myron Selznick, brother of David O.Selznick who produced Gone With the Wind.
Is Daniel Selznick still living
Yes he is !
Yes, Daniel lives at the motion picture home.
@@beckylink thank you Becky. I hope he's well.
Stephanie Stanley He’s got some cognitive issues but can be lucid, too. (I have a friend who is close to him and visits him.)
@@beckylink Becky thank you for your response. I hope Daniel is well. It's wonderful your friend visits him. He looks so much like Louis Mayer. As a teen I had a big crush on David Selznick...still do.
It may have taken them a sizable time to connect, yet, once linked they were ethereal in loving.
Russ Colombo didn't die instantly. The tried to remove the bullet and he died 6 hours after he was shot.
Brown is the name of a banking family - evil. Wonder if it really was an accident.
Lombard was far more beautifull than Grant was hansome.
Never knew about the undershirt being so important!! weird.
that 2 play l did one has a doll and a romantic💋💋
Isnt it wonderful that ATER THEY DIE, many people start the rumors as if they were in their bedrooms 24x7--CRAWFORD SLEPT WITH JUST AS MANY AS GABLE, she said so and look how many marriages.
There's a difference in "not being able to say no" and go after "every woman in the studio."
I'd say if she was still alive I'd say she would have married a few times and became like betty Davis or may west and acted till she couldn't act no more,,rest in peace Carol,,🌹🙏🌈🌸😘💖
She would have got rid of gable, when she realised gable would not change.

Turning off the airport lights was a brilliant idea ,and then don't let anyone fly a plane at night geniuses!!!
Loretta Young was bitter and held that against Gable all her life...proof is her constant to the end stories about him. Also unfortunate is that she took it out on an innocent child. No Gable wasn't an angel however Young wasn't either.
In "Uncommon Knowledge" Judy Lewis asserts that she was born in a house in Venice, CA. She claims to have talked to the midwife present at the time of her birth who helped take care of her before she got sent to an orphanage in San Francisco, where Loretta Young "found" this adorable orphan, etc. This documentary is the first time I have heard the "Missouri" story.
What was Loretta bitter about? DId she want to marry Clark Gable?

The USAAF top-brass feared Gable joining the American 8th Airforce, was Gables personal “death wish.” And that if he died in combat it would be a propaganda coup for Goebbels and the German Luftwaffe.
It was said that Hitler put a bounty over Gables head, to which ever Luftwaffe pilot who shoot down Gables plane. Gable made a publicity film about the air war over Germany, and got wounded in the foot and was then shipped back home.
I don’t know if he was actually wounded, or whether they made the story up to get rid of him. Because Gable was a liability to himself and the crew of the B-17 he flew with.
He really was shot in the foot.
So basicly he used rich women to finance his stardom. Well he at least married them. I remember Judy Lewis because she came out in one of the soap operas I use to see. I always thought she looked so much like her mom!
He didn't marry Loretta Young & she had a baby by him, the only woman who did.
HaHa,, she looked NOTHING like Loretta!
@@bethdavis7812 What does THAT matter. Are you laughing because Loretta wasn't the love of his life? Does it make you feel good because Judy was born from a flimsy union? Gable was not a stand up man. He never acknowledged his one & only child, much less acknowledged her. What does that say about him? What does that say about say regarding YOU for taking joy in it?
@@gleefulme9617 Oh shut up boring harpy. She hid from her daughter who her father was and daughter had to find out from newspapers and then she called her child a "sin". What does that say about her?
@@gleefulme9617 I am laughing at your stupidity! He did not know low life Loretta was pregnant, she stayed abroad and lied to everyone, said she adopted a child. SHE WANTED IT THAT WAY so she could pass her ass off as a goody two shoes and say she was a good Catholic. Later Clark did learn about Judy when he was told how much she looked like him. He went to Loretta's house and did see her however Loretta did not want her I am a "good Catholic make-believe life" destroyed. He had no choice but to do as Loretta wanted.
Wait...didn't Clark cheat on her many times?
Yes
No
Clark Gable did a movie with Ava Gardner in Africa. I can’t remember the name of it but she was with Frank Sinatra at the time. Frank became so jealous he borrowed money to fly to Africa cause he was broke at the time. Ava got very sick in Africa and had to come back home to Frank and he took care of her til she got well. Frank got the part in that movie that he got really famous for and he couldn’t go back to Africa to be with her. By the time she got back she had decided her relationship with Frank was over.
This girl in red and no hair brush, Emily Carmen should sit up straight. She looks really slumped over. Ick.
How very sad for Loretta young. But thank goodness Loretta young went back and got her.
LAVANDER MARRIAGE.... old Hollywood was full of them.
Lavender not lavander.
Where do you get that this was a lavender marriage.
He could not be trusted so she chose to fly even though she hated flying because he was acting w/ Lana Turner. Sad because he wasn’t worth losing your life over
Agree
Wrong.
Lombard didn’t hate flying. She flew many times and with Gable. In fact she expressed to Col. Roscoe Turner that she wanted to take flying lessons. Well documented. Also, that rush to fly home from the Bond Tour is pure fictional nonsense.

When working construction it is a very dirty job
Lana Turner really was a threat to Miss Lombard.
Possibly
Come on,any woman was a threat to

I have a story that my REAL, Birth mother. When my mother was pregnant with me she was ONLY 17 1/2 at the time in 1963. When my mother started really showing she was sent to a Catholic Nuns place for UN-WED mothers for almost 4+ months up until she gave birth to me. When I was born I was given to a family so I could have a REAL chance at life with them. Anyway, my birth mother told me that she was visited several times by Loretta Young as she was a sponsor for the facility. My birth mother took great comfort in that she had made the right choice in giving me up for adoption by Ms. Young. When several decades had passed I finally met my birth mother when I was almost 40. That took GREAT courage in what she had done for me.
