I rode the route also counterclockwise in 6 days last week and it was really hard. I'm very impressed you did it in 3 days! that's awesome. I'm very happy you enjoy Girona and its surroundings because I'm from there...

I’m convinced our success as cyclists is defined by our capacity to suffer. Awesome trip, thanks for sharing.

Great video. Love that area. Hey, if if wasn't challenging it wouldn't be worth doing. Type II fun!

Thanks for sharing this beautiful journey. I live close to Girona myself and to see you coming all the way from the US to do this give me even more confidence to give that route a try.

thank you for sharing the experience. This video is a whirlwind of emotions. It just shows it's not all smiles and sunshine. I've got the same pedals 😳. at least I know what to do if they fail.
FYI your Oakley glasses video taught me more than the sales rep at my sporting goods store. 👍

Ooof! That pedal issue would have tore me up. Way to muscle through it!

A Shimano pedal failure is seriously bad luck Their SPDs can out last bikes with zero maintenance and repeatedly being smashed against rocks.
2000m climbing in 56km is a bit of a toughie. I did nearly a 100Om in 19km up Col de la Madone a few years back. Glad I had no luggage on for that one.

Sweet. Did you book your lodging ahead or just wing it? Also way to power through the seized pedal :)

I lodged ahead just to have a solid plan. Although winging it on this route will work too. Plenty of lodging and wild camping spots if played safe.

Great video. I was looking at doing this exact route in reverse. You think it's workable with 28mm road tryes? Komoot says 71km is unpaved but I can't see how bad it is.

Thanks for sharing this, awesome video !! I was wondering if there were any great gravel routes near Girona, because I am planning to go there next year. This route looks awesome, so I am glad I discovered it. You do not expect something like your pedals to fail on you during a bike trip, so that was a bummer for you. During my cycling trip last summer, I also had a (shimano) pedal fail on me. Very annoying. I am still looking for pedals that would last a long time, but have not decided on which yet. Enjoy your time in Spain !

Thanks for tuning in. So many! Costa Brava, and plenty more. I would connect with The Service Course shop and Eat Sleep Cycle before you get into town to get more intel on local routes. They also lead out group rides.

Epic trip filled with ups and downs. When you flew with your bike did you leave the bike bag at the start point and just return to the same hotel to retrieve it?

    • @dwaynepedals

Thanks Woody. That’s exactly what I’d did. Stayed at my Airbnb for the length of the trip where I stored everything and just rode back there in the end.

a pedal is one of those things that i just expect to work and to work reliably. good thing you were able to resolve it. very jealous watching this video from flat and ugly dallas.
