That’s a great and in some way inspirational explanation you have there, Sir. I’m not American, but I do dress like a cowboy, because I love the culture and the outfit looks cool. Oh and by the way, I have the same belt and holster, but of a different color ;) It’s produced in Mexico, right? The only thing that kinda threw me off a little is the 5-finger Vibram shoe:) Them shoes mismatch your outfit so much, it’s incredible :) Plus, I suspect you don’t want to feel every little stone and rock with your toes. But, hey, that is your choice of shoes and I respect that. Well done on the video. Thank you.
I dress like a “cowboy”, is because it’s practical just like you said I don’t wear shoes like that because of weather and mud and also for working those wouldn’t do to well. A cowboy hat is more of a necessity then a statement.
I like dressing like a cowboy. I get looks but mostly when people talk to me I say I'm 75 years old I dress the way I like. Most of the time I get positive feedback. The point is I've gone through many kinds of dress in my lifetime and I feel comfortable in cowboy clothes and really don't give a darn what others think. I'm not a real cowboy I know that anyway not many cowboy s left. Love the look and getting as close to the lifestyle as I can. Will die with my boots on pard. The Dark cowboy.
What make and caliber is the revolver? I really like the holster also. Where did you get it? I am looking for the same get up for my Ruger 44 mag! Great vids also!
😩 OMG those shoes ruined everything for me! I didn't need that visual!! I was better off believing you were a cowboy & just expected you'd have on boots of some sort. Let a girl dream! Imma need another video with you in boots asap! 😂😂
I’m with you man 100% I wear cowboy attire but the shoes gotta go bud. Get a pair of boots and your set, but I also respect your decision to wear what you wanna wear. It’s your stuff and you can do what you need to do 🤠🤠🤠
okay first you need to know the definition of cowboy which is someone who herds or tends cattle/cows... its not a dress style. you can wear a business suite and dress shoes and drive a Prius and if you herd cattle your a cowboy. the way you dress is called WESTERN. its a style. and usually consist of the boots the hat ect... yes cowboys dress western naturally because of the work they do. if you see someone wearing western style clothes dont be thinking oh jeez look at this fake cowboy... also riding a horse doesn't make you a cowboy either. if people want to dress western let them theres nothing wrong with it. when you see someone wearing baggy pants hanging below his waste with an over sized shirt on does that make him a rapper? or fake rapper? lol let people wear what they want. and worry about your selfs.
Ah man I was let the man live and was fully ready to support your choice of apparel as I live in London and get asked why I dress like a cowboy all the time too. I love a bit of double denim, western shirts, t shirts with the sleeves rolled up etc but then we got to the footwear and oh dear god no my eyes no!
Living in the vast expanses of the remote American West, you can practically anything you want for days at a time because there is nobody there to see or object..... unless you are a youtube vlogger, then the whole situation changes for a person. lol
i work on the oro ranch in montana, and hes right, we have to where all that stuff (a little bit up here). its meant to protect yourself from the weather
I guess I am a cowboy. I'm on horseback as many days as not. I'm always doing "ranch" stuff. Not all of us cowboys dress like traditional cowboys. I do, because I like it and every item, boots, hat and even the gun are items I never leave the house without. They're all practical, and really, just part of the tools of the trade. As for non-cowboys who like the look, I say go for it! Beats the hell out of wearing your pajama pants to town with a ball cap backwards on your head, like we all see so much.
That all makes sense, but what about the guy in a city that's walking through the mall? And after he's done shop and he goes home to a suburban house with no horses and no farm. But he does have a nice patio with a swing set in the back for the kids.
I made this video to talk about my situation, not to judge what other folks are doing. Besides, of all the potential clothing a human being can wear, a suburban dad dressed like a cowboy seems quite harmless.
I dress like a cowboy 🤠 cause it’s ducking awesome , I love this man !! You don’t need a reason to wear what you like , if I had land in Japan I would be wearing samurai or cowboy clothes
a gun is a tool that can be used as a weapon for shooting a target... period. Dressing like a cowboy or using the equipment of a cowboy advocates self reliance, dependability, individuality and freedom; it is the American symbol.
Why not dress how you want and how you feel ? What practical reason does someone have to dye their hair purple ? Or dress with like they’re sponsored by Sabb when they ride a bike ?
I personally find tall boots to be really comfortable, and they provide lots of protection for the feet and lower legs in a place like the Southwest and other parts of the country
A lot of movies depict what seems to be a "long Johns" under their jeans pants and jean jackets? Do you by chance wear long johns and if so, could you talk more about it?
I haven't owned a pair of long johns since I was in gradeschool. You are right, they do seem to be worn by lots of cowboys in the movies, but I'm not sure if that is historically accurate or just a film cliche.
Friendly Troll Warning:Don't forget the rattlers! A pistol is very handy out there. The hat; I used to be all about the BB cap until I bought my first Stetson in '12, (rather my only Stetson as I haven't bought a second one... Yet.) This is a more practical head piece than any worn by men anywhere, and most ladies dig it.I miss my Jean Jacket, haven't worn one since the late 80's but, it really was a great guard against the sun and traipsing through brambles. The oiled dusters I've worn since then are just as practical, if not better. Kudos to you for rocking an ageless style. The shoes... Can't formulate an opinion as I haven't ever worn a pair. I regularly wear over-ankle Hiking shoes and occasionally wear a pair of very expensive Tony Lama boots I bought on a whim while in North Dakota on a Old West tour. Both of these have protected my feet on numerous adventures into the wilder areas of the west and Alaska. I hope you never have to encounter a Devil's Club in those Toe Shoes, lol.
Mojave Greens are some of the deadliest pit vipers in the world. I haven't seen any, but believe me, I sure ain't forgetting about them! No need to worry about a Devil's Club out in the desert, as those are more of a forest plant. However, the Goat Head (Tribulus terrestris) is the big concern in Los Angeles and plain old creosote branches can be quite sharp.
I live in Australia, I could not live without a wide rim hat. I was dying before I started wearing a hat regularly. It is so awful getting heatstroke on a regular basis because your head gets way too much sun, it is worth wearing a hat in these conditions.
Yep. Lots of folks think it's like going to the beach and you just walk around in swimtrunks. No. It's the exact opposite. To keep cool, you don't expose your skin to the sun. You cover up as much as possible.
I dress similar except mine is a Marlboro jean jacket my leather hat is two tone from eBay and I wear plain tanish brown cowboy boots I also have to wear my shoulder holster more than my rig but my question is if your not trying to look like a cowboy then why not wear a sombrero? Or wear a modern glock or 1911? I personally have a colt 1851 sheriff reproduction in the 44cal I have some glove shoes but only for jet ski outfits. If your gonna dress the part do it right or it’s an insult and have some self respect at least get some leather shoes with gel souls!
Levi's Trucker Jacket. But if I had to buy another, I'd get a denim jacket from "Buddy's Jeans" since they are made in the USA. Levi's no longer employs Americans and imports all their stuff.
I dress like a cowgirl because I love it. I wear Loblan cowboy boots every day in life, and most times a beaver fur stetson. I'm comfortable and I love westerns. Being in Scotland, it is strange and I can't wear a gun in public, but hey, if others don't like it, fine. Don't comment on other peoples' lives until yours is perfect.
I'm curious: Why did cowboys (in Hollywood movies, at least) wear long-sleeve shirts, even under the sun of a very hot summer? Why did they wear long-johns all the time? ------ (gilberto lehrer from brazil)
I've never researched Old West clothing styles, so I can't say which facets depicted by Hollywood are historically accurate and which aspects are total fiction. But... Having worked in film, I can tell you 99% of the time, aesthetics are more important than historical accuracy. Movies are just storytelling. Campfire tales. Legends. Mythology. The _fun_ of the story is more important than the _truth_ of the story.
I dress like a cowboy when I go hunting and bushcraft, when I'm in town I only wear jeans and a flannel shirt sometimes I'm using a t-shirt when it's hot of course tucking it into my jeans and always using my favorite denim jacket
1519-1700s After the Spanish arrived in Mexico in 1519, ranches were established and stocked with cattle and horses imported from Spain. Landowners mounted native Indians on well-trained horses and taught them to handle cattle. By the early 1700s, cattle ranching had spread north into what is now Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico and south to Argentina. The native cowboys were called vaqueros(from the Spanish word for cow) and developed roping skills, using braided rawhide reatas (the root word for lariat). Starting in 1769, a chain of 21 Franciscan missions eventually stretched from San Diego to San Francisco, marking the beginning of California’s livestock industry

I dress like a Cowboy because it’s when men were men, where they worked, like I work. Where they have quality, like I had quality, where they stand up for themselves like I do.
Now if a person wears clothing from their favorite sports team, are they asked, "Do you think you play for that team?" There is no reason why some ignoramous should ask anybody why they dress like a cowboy. It is simply just another way to dress. Deal with it.

I hiked extensively in Joshua Tree National Park in my Luna huarache sandals, the early ones with a very thin sole and traditional laces :) Much better (for me) than my Vibram Five Fingers. The Five Fingers give you an illusion of protection - you have none, especially in the desert environment. The huaraches are pretty much up front about it. They say "Dude, you're barefoot! Be here. Now. Or pay the price" :)
Vibram Five Fingers are not the illusion of protection - they are just very minimal protection. Believe me, I am extremely careful where I step. I've been running and hiking in them for years and I've never been injured by rocks or sticks, but the soles are so thin, I know a misplaced piece of glass or nail could go right through them. Thanks for telling be about Luna Sandals. I usually hate sandals, since they aren't really attached to your feet, but those look quite promising. I'll have to look into them a little more! Thanks again for the tip and thanks for watching.
I dress that way for my mom ran from my dad ( she was a "entitled mom" ), and I watched the old TV westerns like Roy Rogers, Hop along Cassidy, Bat Masterson, Have gun will travel, The lone ranger ( which I called "The long ranger" for years 😀 ), etc. I played cowboy and got my great aunt mad when I was shot and fell on the floor, she was putting coal in the funace, those shows replaced my dad until I saw him at age 21 👍. I have 3 pairs of cowboy boots, I'm trying to walk again from almost dying ( in the hospital for a week ) and I might not be able to get them off 😋.
There's nothing wrong with saying that you do it for fun or just trying to be cool. Ha! I wrote this before you said it. 😁 But I gotta admit those shoes are the coolest. And they do help posture etc.

What make and caliber is the revolver? I really like the holster also. Where did you get it? I am looking for the same get up for my Ruger 44 mag! Great vids also!
Mine is a Ruger too. Don't recall which one I was wearing. Found the belt at a gun show.
Thanks for watching!
get a Stetson a real cowboy hat
Stetson only makes straw or felt and most cost $100 or more. I prefer my American-made leather Henschel for $50.
Real cowboys never wore "cowboy hats" I have some old Charlie Russel paintings, they all had bowler hats on.
Yes Stetson!
True best brand
I'm from Australia, we make akubra hats. Do they have them there in usa, also rm williams.
I dress like a cowboy cause I have rdr2
I haven't played videogames since I was a child. But I think it's great that games get folks interested in the Old West.
Because my great great great grandfathers dna dwells inside me
😩 OMG those shoes ruined everything for me! I didn't need that visual!! I was better off believing you were a cowboy & just expected you'd have on boots of some sort. Let a girl dream! Imma need another video with you in boots asap! 😂😂
Ma'am, it's never my intent to disappoint a lady, but I do tend to be quite adept at doing so.
+ Luthorville: Building an Off-Grid Mojave Tiny House 😂
Lmao what a turn off
I’m with you man 100% I wear cowboy attire but the shoes gotta go bud. Get a pair of boots and your set, but I also respect your decision to wear what you wanna wear. It’s your stuff and you can do what you need to do 🤠🤠🤠
Paul G - 👍😂
okay first you need to know the definition of cowboy which is someone who herds or tends cattle/cows... its not a dress style. you can wear a business suite and dress shoes and drive a Prius and if you herd cattle your a cowboy.
the way you dress is called WESTERN. its a style. and usually consist of the boots the hat ect... yes cowboys dress western naturally because of the work they do.
if you see someone wearing western style clothes dont be thinking oh jeez look at this fake cowboy...
also riding a horse doesn't make you a cowboy either. if people want to dress western let them theres nothing wrong with it.
when you see someone wearing baggy pants hanging below his waste with an over sized shirt on does that make him a rapper? or fake rapper? lol
let people wear what they want. and worry about your selfs.
People who say I dress like a cowboy probably won't care about your vocabulary lesson, but I applaud your effort to educate them.
I also have some Cody James Work Boots. The Vibrams Five Fingers are just more fun.
"It's fricken' hawt."
I respect the hell out of this video!
Much obliged.
y I where a cowboy hat.when it rains I do not want to lug around an umbrella, when its hot I'm in the shade. simple!
Excellent idea. Thanks for watching.
You should buy another holster and gun and place it on the side and become a gunslinger.
Not a bad idea.
I dress like a cowboy bc I am a damn cowboy and a fuckin gunslinger
I dress like a cowboy 🤠 cause it’s ducking awesome , I love this man !! You don’t need a reason to wear what you like , if I had land in Japan I would be wearing samurai or cowboy clothes
Ghshhghsghsg I don’t know what I was expecting him to wear as footwear, but toe shoes were not it. The pure energy, I am in awe
I dress like a cowboy because like you said, a gun and hat make all the difference between normal and cowboy.
It's practical and I like the style. That's why I dress it
That's a good enough reason as any.
The jacket isn’t necessary though, just stick with western long sleeve shirt
You seem like a good guy my friend. I hope you’re doing well.
a gun is a tool that can be used as a weapon for shooting a target... period. Dressing like a cowboy or using the equipment of a cowboy advocates self reliance, dependability, individuality and freedom; it is the American symbol.
Thanks for watching and sharing your poetic perspective.
why single action? It is true to the coolness... but regardless why the SA pistol?
Single action is fun.
Why not dress how you want and how you feel ? What practical reason does someone have to dye their hair purple ? Or dress with like they’re sponsored by Sabb when they ride a bike ?
This topic was simply a fun excuse to make a video. Nothing more.
Is your favourite word practical
Thanks for watching, kid.
Is that Arizona. I love it used to live there, visit and go hunting with my dad. 2 amendment!!!!!
California.
Here in AZ that attire is common, especially when out in the fields and mountains
Good reason to respect Arizona.
I'm a farmer in the Philippines. I enjoy cowboy boots and cowboy hats.
What brand is that jean jacket?
Levi's Trucker Jacket. But if I had to buy another, I'd get a denim jacket from "Buddy's Jeans" since they are made in the USA. Levi's no longer employs Americans and imports all their stuff.
i would carry mine everyday but of course florida is always behind on times and i can't carry openly. which really sucks
I'm legally allowed to open carry only because I'm on my own private property. I can't open carry once I step off my land.
What camera did you guys in this video because it looks Stunning👏👏👏
Thanks. This was a Canon 700D/T5i, with a 50mm lens, at an f4.0 aperture.
After This Im absolutely appalled with Guns and Bullets.... So I decided to go for it and get myself a full wardrobe !
A Scottish cowgirl, huh? That's pretty awesome. Karen Gillan in cowboy boots is a gorgeous visual.
Because it's cool. Don't listen to other people. They won't understand.
That is true. They never do.
Wear what you want when you want that’s pretty damn outlaw to me
Why I dress like a cowboy because I like it!!!
That's why I got the Tim McGraw hat🤠
There you go! No better reason than, "Because it's America, and I want to."
The shoes with that outfit are ridiculous but awesome at the same time 🤣
Not only an apt description of my outfit, but an equally befitting description of myself - ridiculous but awesome at the same time.
I just like the hat!!😊... I think it's cool. Urban cowboy. White T shirt, blue jeans, and cool pair of boots.:)
Thanks. I dig the hat too.
😂 Just waiting for some Knights and Vikings to show up. How about an Astronaut costume?
I dress like a cowboy when I go hunting and bushcraft, when I'm in town I only wear jeans and a flannel shirt sometimes I'm using a t-shirt when it's hot of course tucking it into my jeans and always using my favorite denim jacket
why do you wear a leather hat instead of a felt or straw?
I like leather.
And if he dresses like a cowboy who cares he is his own man
When living a place kind of like living in the game RDR2 ,dressing like a cowboy will be a good option for me too👍
1519-1700s After the Spanish arrived in Mexico in 1519, ranches were established and stocked with cattle and horses imported from Spain.
I see your quote comes from _The History of the Vaquero_ on the American Cowboy website.
Not sure why you are just copying and pasting blog entries written by other people as your commentary, but have fun with that!
I wear what I wear because we got lawmen in 3 different states on our tail
I dress like a Cowboy because it’s when men were men, where they worked, like I work. Where they have quality, like I had quality, where they stand up for themselves like I do.
Now if a person wears clothing from their favorite sports team, are they asked, "Do you think you play for that team?" There is no reason why some ignoramous should ask anybody why they dress like a cowboy. It is simply just another way to dress. Deal with it.
You have good style I really like that outfit
Thank you. I appreciate your compliment.
idk what they are talking about, you look sick man
Thank you. Funny how "sick" has become slang for "good".
Coyotes are real shy and will walk away if it sees you I live in Sonoran dessert and I know plenty of people who wear the same outfit you know but minus the gun
Most coyotes flee. Feral dog packs tend to be more aggressive than coyotes.
anyone who thinks you are dressed like a cowboy is up in the night. glad to hear that you don't think its cowboy.
Thanks for sharing your story.
@@LuthorvilleCA if I don't mention it, the past will fade away.
There's nothing wrong with saying that you do it for fun or just trying to be cool.
Ha! I wrote this before you said it. 😁 But I gotta admit those shoes are the coolest. And they do help posture etc.
Funny how frequently comments on this video seem to reply as if they are answering the title, instead of reacting to the video.
“Why do you dress like a cowboy” ?
“Why do you ask stupid questions” ?
Heh. That's funny. Good point!
I dress like a cowboy cuz I wanna be the best gunslinger in the modern west
Good enough reason as any.
