Finally, someone shows how to properly season stainless steel cookware,. And it's Dave Canterbury? It just goes to show just how multi facitated Dave really is. Dave is a survival instructor, he's not supposed to be a chef, but he is. Thanks for the lesson and the info (when the pan bottom starts to look bronze, it's properly seasoned, not stainless shinny). Wow who'd a thunk it? ;-)
DAVE CANTERBURY IS THE GOAT! AS FAR AS I KNOW HE CREATED SURVIVAL AND OUTDOORS SKILLS (ONLINE). HE BLEW UP THIS TYPE OF CONTENT ON DIGITAL MEDIA TO THE WORLD. THE ORIGINATOR. APPECIATE YOU SIR. RESPECT. THE GOAT!
I have an entire plastic storage tote full of Pathfinder cookware and I love it all and I think I have room in there for one of those quart sized bushpots...lol. I love my 8 inch Pathfinder skillet I have got that thing dialed in and I wouldn't trade it for all the titanium cookware in China. Love it when you guys come out with new products because I know they're gonna be worth getting.
YESSSSS!!!! I have to have this skillet for my camping needs!!! I have an older "copper coated" skillet now that SUCKS!! I will have one of your skillets Dave! Thanks for posting this video!
I hope that one day you’ll reproduce the Cold Handle Skillet, just like you did with M40 mess kit. In stainless or titanium. That would be, as Tony the Tiger would say, great.
I love those kind of pots, it's in my main outdoors gear, everytime I go out for more than a couple of hours. I've used them for food and coffee mainly but the've seen other uses too! That's the perfect size for one guy, if you 're not alone, bring one more or a even better a bigger size pot. Size depends on your needs, the number of people etc. I own both Steel and Titanium ones, I like both, but I prefer the Steel one, whenever I can have it.
Hey DC.! It's about time The Cooking Show came back. It's long....over due mate. Great trick with the flipping of the egg. Betcha can't do it with two eggs..!! Truly understand your busy schedule mate. Somebody have to teach those city slickers how to survive in the woods. We wouldn't mind your Pathfinder stuff but it just cost too much when it comes to Australia so locally made is the go for us. We watched some of your students/instructors vid on Utube & it's very encouraging. This also how we learn atleast some of the Pathfinder Courses. Cheers Cobber.
Dave, I was finally able to score a pathfinder woodsman’s pantry after waiting some time, and very happy to have it. I’ve also been waiting for the bedroll cooker. There’s a lot not in stock, but, I am on the e mail list and will act when I get the notifications. Thanks for all you guys do.
I have had a PF stainless skillet for a few years. LOVE IT!!! it cooks indoors and outdoors..perfect. the lid was destroyed long ago...I WISH MR C. WOULD SELL A REPLACEMENT LID!!! Tired of useing my cowboy plate as a lid
IM A POOR MAN. IVE USED YOUR TEACHINGS AND INSPIRATION TO ACTUALLY SURVIVE. THE 5 C'S FOR EXAMPLE. FOR YEARS IVE WANTED TO PURCHASE SOME PATHFINDER MERCH. ONE DAY I HOPE THAT I CAN MAKE A LARGE ORDER WITH YOU FOR SOME AWESOME GEAR. THANKS FOR WHAT YOU DO. MUCH RESPECT AND APPRECIATION.
The kids gave me the 10" skillet for Father's Day. First thing I made in it is some sopapillas, fried in lard. Should help with seasoning it. I like that the Pathfinder 8" skillet nests inside it, as well.
This was very helpful! I have always had trouble with food sticking in stainless steel. Even things like oatmeal or quinoa cooked in a bush pot. It's amazing to me that an egg could be cooked without oil, just with a properly seasoned skillet. So now I'm thinking I might get the 8" stainless steel skillet. I'm looking forward to seeing the new bedroll!
" Just bought 2 of these new 10 " pans and they are outstanding. Because they are 3" deep, they seem so much larger than expected. Almost like a flat bottom wok, really heavy duty, restaurant quality pans. A 9 1/2" round metal cooling rack fits perfectly inside with about 1/2" clearance underneath. I cut a Dollar Tree flexible cutting board to fit inside, so I always have a clean prep. surface. Also, a small Dollar Tree backpack ( now 1.25) fits the pan and extras beautifully ".
I’d definitely buy the Pathfinder Folding 25cm 10 inch skillet / frying pan if sold in the UK and the price was reasonable. 👍 Pity it’s not sold in the UK as I’m sure many would buy it.
I goofed up with my Pathfinder skillet and didn't season it before I used it. I'm hoping maybe I can try and season it now, the right way. Hope it's not too late to do so? Thanks for showing the proper way to season stainless steel. I like your small steel containers that fit in the Bushpot. I'll have to check your website to see if those are there?
Man, I wanted a smaller SS bushpot for years. I finally gave up a couple months ago and bought the bigger one, as well as another brand. Oh well...great products.
Great video as always, love the new and quality products that arw offered thru the SRO store!. where can I find the small cylinder seasoning containers you had in this video??
I may have misheard you, but I listened twice. It's actually called DE-glazing the pan when you pour a liquid in to help remove any remaining food bits.
Another fantastic video and great new gear. Do have 2 questions though. Does that little bushpot nest in the standard bushpot, and where can i get some of those little containers?
Question? Does the lid clamp shut when you erect the hanging handle on the bush pot? 🤔 with a rack, and it tilted on its side covered in coals. You got yourself a campfire bisket baker.
Thank you Dave. I have used cast iron for decades. It never occurred to me to do the same treatment for stainless. Lack of knowledge in life is a costly inhibitor. It is actually Bible scripture. “My people perish through a lack of knowledge.” Another one: “Above all things, seek wisdom.”
Will never forget almost eating some mac and cheese someone made me, I look in the bowl and ask did you add pepper to this?! Long story short wasn't pepper was flakes of the Teflon pot. After that point will only eat from stainless steel or cast iron. Teflon is a huge killer and making it produces some very nasty stuff much of it went right into the rivers and streams. Anyway great video and great products thanks for all the great info packed in each video.
I didn't know stainless steel could be seasoned. I thought it was just carbon steel and cast iron. Can you also consider making a full sized 12 inch skillet with side pouring spouts? Similar to Fire Maple's Antarcti line of stainless steel camp cookware.
Have you thought of making a smaller folding skillet to fit under the 2 quart bush pot? I've been trying to find one but no luck. Meanwhile the cold handle skillet is on duty.

Nice additions to the PF cooking line. Thanks for sharing and for your continued commitment to bringing us new and useful products.
Great video for seasoning a stainless steel skillet, cooking, and cleaning. Quality on display

Thanks for taking your valuable time to show the new pan like the new pot as well👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
thanks Dave, I like that new fry pan , can't wait to see this bed roll, I been interested in a cowboy style bedroll for some times now
Great seasoning method Dave. The only thing that could make your new 10" pan better would be a stainless steel grid rack for steaming things.
Good afternoon Dave thanks for the update you guys rock! This is how I clean and cook with all stainless steel very cool video!
Obrigado Dave por nos ensinar tanto, um grande abraço aqui do Brasil. 👍👍👍
I hope that one day you’ll reproduce the Cold Handle Skillet, just like you did with M40 mess kit. In stainless or titanium. That would be, as Tony the Tiger would say, great.
Just saw this in my feed. Clicked on it then ordered a skillet and bush pot before the video was done. Thank you!

Amazing because I usually use a nonstick pan.!!!
Now I know how to do this. Thanks Dave.

Yep. I'll be getting that skillet. Thank you for more great products.
Two great pieces of solid kit! The one quart bush pot is my next Pathfinder purchase.
David Canterbury,
Thank you for sharing this information. You have taught me a few things.
I got both of these when they dropped. Love them both. Can't wait for waxed canvas bags to come out for them both
Cool products and video. Great info on the products. Love seeing this type of stuff. Keep up the great work.
Thank you Mr. David Canterbury.

Ordered my Bushpot today. Another wonderful product from self reliance outfitters coming soon.

Good info, thanks. I have compact cookware in my van, but I may want a whole camp set in the future. Same space, more features.
Dave always has good stuff to tell us! Always!
I could definitely use these for dayhikes. Looks like they would last a lifetime ✌👍🙂😊
Thanks Dave! I know what I'm ordering Friday!
Nice additions to the Pathfinder gear, thanks Dave Canterbury 👍☘️😎
Very informative
Thank you!
I dig the bush pot.

Good demo with the SS skillet Dave. 👍
I wonder if a SVEA 123 stove would fit in the pot?
I have been looking for 1 like that! And it looks deep too
Very cool bush pot 👍
Thanks Big D!
I love this point 7:07 🙂
Good looking products and a nice price too.
I have the smaller one but I wish the handle fold of the lid to help hold it
Great video! I had no idea I needed to do that to stainless steel. Where do I get the small tins that fit in to the bush pot?
THANKS DAVE.
Another fantastic video and great new gear. Do have 2 questions though. Does that little bushpot nest in the standard bushpot, and where can i get some of those little containers?
Never met a pot I didn't like. Some call that a weakness. I beg to differ.
Question? Does the lid clamp shut when you erect the hanging handle on the bush pot? 🤔 with a rack, and it tilted on its side covered in coals. You got yourself a campfire bisket baker.
Excellent !
Where do I find the containers you have in the bush pot ????
Thank all you guys for doing awesome job. I watch Shaun every week
I will be picking one up.
Where did you get your spice containers?
Prototypes
Your spice containers in this video I would like to know where those came from
Prototypes
Nice these look good 👍
cant wait until friday!!!!!
Great way to conserve space
Thank you Dave. I have used cast iron for decades. It never occurred to me to do the same treatment for stainless. Lack of knowledge in life is a costly inhibitor. It is actually Bible scripture. “My people perish through a lack of knowledge.” Another one: “Above all things, seek wisdom.”
have the 8 inch skillet love it
Great looking items
Is SRO going to carry those spice tins? I’ve been looking for a good way to carry spices and those tins look like they’d do the job😃
Thanks!
A one quart bush pot is perfect size for me.
Will non stick spray work to help with sticking

Man that’s a surprise on the one quart pot .. yea Dave you’re gonna get some more of my money lol
What where those vertical spice containers you put in the 1 quart container I did not see those on your website.
Great products!
Have you thought of making a smaller folding skillet to fit under the 2 quart bush pot? I've been trying to find one but no luck. Meanwhile the cold handle skillet is on duty.
In the future yes
Hello, just wondering if there is a rack or trivet to fit the new fry pan, similar to the smaller one.
Are the spice tins coming out Friday also?
No these are prototypes
Hey Dave I got your PFM40 . and I was wondering if you got a lid for it.?
Dimensions on the bush pot? I didn't see any reference on your site yet.
Where do you get the little round canister
When will the tumpline weaving kit be available?
Another week or 2
TIP: to help make meat not stick to the pan use equal parts butter and oil when cooking
Awesome 🎉
What are the spice container called and where did you order them from?
Are the tins you placed in the bush pot available through SRO?
In the future
Where do I order that, my jet boil pan for the truck cook kit was double that price
Selfrelianceoutfitters.com
🙏🏼
Do you sell those little containers too?
Are those little stainless containers something you sell on the SRO website?
Prototypes for a future product
Where did you get those tins?
What size canteen/bottle nests in that pot
Will the 1 quart fit a Nalgene bottle ?
The bottle would be loose out 26oz cup is made for bottles
Outstanding
