The River Meadows of Färnebofjärden National Park

  • Färnebofjärden is a national park in Sweden that displays a unique river landscape. Flooded river meadows during spring brings huge amounts of birds and animals...and mosquitoes.
At Färnebofjärden you have the "Limes Norrlandicus", the biological divison line between southern Sweden and the harsher northern environments. This leads to a strange meeting point where flora and fauna from the south meets the ecology of the north. And it's pretty damn gorgeous as well!
This visit took place in Swedish autumn, so the rivers were pretty calm. But you can still enjoy the views of the paths through river meadows, and see hints of the ferocious torrent this river becomes during spring.
I also check out the old mill at Gysinge, and I view the park from atop the Skekarbo lookout tower. Or I try at least. There's not much sunlight in Sweden this time of the year...

Nice one! I think this was in... September? October maybe? That was pretty good too, and a pleasant day.

Any wild animals? The walkways too narrow make it bigger. Love your narration of the place. Water seems cold and nice to swim. You got a beautiful channel. The place is nice. So many waters there.

Thank you so much! Mostly small animals like otters and beavers and lots of birds - no bigger animals. And yeah, the water looked nice but way too cold for me right now. But I hope it's warmer in spring!

Great parc and nice vlog. I know that feeling you described about wanting to jump into the water. I have it sometimes when I walk passed the canals in Amsterdam. Just wondering how cold the water is and such... So far haven't done it.. :)

Haha, I was there in November last year so I remember how cold the water looked. I have to admit that I never got the urge to jump in then... And the risk of getting run over by a boat is probably not insignificant :)

@@ThreeStarVagabond Haha, the boats could be a problem for sure :)
By the way, off topic: how is it going in Sweden Covid wise? Did I hear correctly Sweden is in some kind of a lockdown situation right now? And could that be a topic of a future video, to show how it is handled in Stockholm?

@@AmsterdamComicGeek No lockdown, just a limit of max 8 people gathering. No change otherwise - so it's not much to report on. Life is pretty much the same, but boring since all events and parties etc are canceled. I think people are mostly worried about what will happen after Xmas and the skiing season.

@@ThreeStarVagabond Thanks for clearing that up. I must have been misinformed, which isn't that hard with Dutch news agencies I'm afraid Haha. In the Netherlands making new rules and limitations has gone to the government's head. They seem to be drunk with power. As of tomorrow, wearing a face mask is mandatory in public spaces such as shops. Except for when you go to church, which I find weird. Maybe religious people are protected from the virus by the big guy. But I digress, glad to hear things are still somewhat normal in your neck of the woods.

@@AmsterdamComicGeek Oh right, no there was a big thing happening in Sweden as well! No alcohol is allowed to be served after 10 PM now. That caused quite a bit of outrage. So rules and regulations are happening here as well after all... And it hit the Swedes where it hurts the most - in the alcohol....
