Many nice watches and a nice list, overall. However, I do struggle with the GS you picked. Nothing against a date window and power reserve display in general, but with a dress watch..? I just scrolled through the website and is say there are probably 12-15 watches I’d rather pick as a dress watch than the sky flake (most notably the Omiwatari, if you wanna go slightly fancy)
Thanks for the content! Great stuff! I would have loved to see you feature the Grand Seiko sbgy026. 2 years ago, you and Andrew compare the very favorably to the 1908
Understandably, people prefer to hear the voice of the one they are used to hear. Andrew and his talking hand is a hard thing to replace, and is probably missed by all the fans of this channel. Given time, you will gradually become their favourite. Just a little bit of advice from an old sound engineer; a voice processor to lower the pitch of your voice would help quite a bit.😊
It’s funny seeing the 1908 in there with its machined bevels and then seeing a cheaper Saxonia that dogwalks it by every measure. Rolex needs to get out of the dress watch business.
I like the 1908 but I don't like how the small seconds circle interacts with the hour markers. I also don't like how it breaks up the guilloche dial in the platinum version, I would rather it have a center seconds hand.
All these but not a single Breguet? It is criminal to not include Breguet, they are a great bargain preowned, maybe even better for what you get compared to the Jaquet Droz.
The Omega is a great colour, I think with a beautiful movement. The horrible clunky logo on the Spring Drive spoils an otherwise excellent watch. The Chopard- at that price is a super watch with a great dial design. The cartier also looks great (never thought I’d say that).
I love VC but as much as I hate to admit it that dial on their Traditionale is just awful. I have a Cornes de Vache which is sublimely beautiful, and even though a chronograph can work easily as a dress watch.
Comparing the traditionalle to the calatrava is like a black and white lesson in a minimalist dress watch. The first is painfully boring and the second I find incredibly attractive to look at, all while remaining less busy
Good to see videos of dress watches. Really like the VC & Omega. They were my favourites, but really not a bad watch among them. If only I had the budget.
I prefer dress watches as simple as possible, no date, no seconds, and no moon phase, so most of these isn't really my taste. My top 5 choices would be: * Lange Saxonia thin * AP Jules Audemars extra thin * Breguet classique 5157 * VC Patrimony manual-winding * Cartier Santos-Dumont Large(even though it's quartz)
Difficult to keep it down to 10. While watching I kept thinking it a shame that he omitted A Lange Sohne but he was saving it to last. On the other hand, shame on me for having forgotten Audemars Piguet.
@@archiegoodwinjr Are there any current AP dresswatches in their catalogue? That might be why they're not here, most of their dress watches are much older.
The Rolex 1908 is my holy grail. I don't need much. I would definitely have made it if I owned one of these. I would stare at her everyday, rub her crystal and wind her up. OMG 🥰
Not putting H Moser and Cie Endeavor/Mayu on here is a crime. You get something super unique and incredibly well built and finished for a fraction of a Patek Calitrava when pre owned.
Tom is coming into his own. I love the JLC. They made the movements that allowed the big 3 to become the big 3. Then the big 3 wouldn’t let JLC into the club. Oh the first world injustice of it all!
The craftsmanship displayed on the Omega movement in terms of decoration is more superior to Rolex attempt, as a Rolex owner i have to say that Rolex interpretation of dress watch is my least preferred watch.
Good old Rolex.... Still obscenely over-priced even for a status symbol brand. Back in 1908, Rolex was just a cheap caser based out of England. Why create a watch that harkens back to that time? That's like creating a Commemorative Documentary film about Samuel L. Jackson.... But only focusing on him during the years he spent as a Down & Out actual crackhead! Makes no sense. Have to have a dress watch with Rolex DNA in it? Buy a Tudor 1926 for around $2 grand instead of this Rolex 1908 for over $20 grand. Must have a dress watch with a sub-dial for the seconds from a true Heritage brand? Buy a Longines Heritage Classic for just over $2 grand. What's the point of White gold on the 1908, when it just looks like common stainless steel? And, it's likely barely a few microns thick anyway.
Finally one interesting Rolex and cool display case back. Nevertheless, I'm still keeping my similar dress Omega, which speaks to me in much bigger terms.
Why do we need dress watches? I need my phone, it’s a watch, personal computer, compass etc etc…if I want to ‘show off’, a bracelet with precious gems will definitely show off more than a watch…I get the appreciation for mechanical engineering but it’s not a fashion accessory anymore.
I will never buy an alange again, the experience ends after you buy the watch, their customer service is absolutely horrendous even worse than grand seiko, so many issues. No thanks. Unrelated excluding Breguet on this list is a crime, the Breguet classique series are masterpieces in dress watch at a great after market value of 30-40% off retail. Their dial is insane, just look at the 5157, there is no better dress watch whether look or value than that
of course you put Rolex in the title....clicks are what you chase. Odd that you excluded some legendary dress watches and instead included ...a GS daily wear style watch with a busy dial? Not really a dress watch. No JLC? No Breguet? No G.O.?

You’re right buddy, the 1908 is by far the best thing Rolex have done in a while 😎
Best thing since 1908
Definitely. Character and style, very un-Rolex.
Thanks for doing this video Tom. Refreshing to see a video that does not highlight divers and field watches.
Aha good humour and some previously unknown watch choices- this is properly reminiscent of the old days! Great stuff, Tom! Love dress watches

Indeed...
Amazing list!
That Omega dial is exactly the same colour, including degrade, as the sofa I'm sitting on 😂

Great review!
The JLC 👏👏👏
wow the Omega is soooo beautiful !!!
way too big for a dress watch and thick imo
@lamadoo 40mm wide and 10mm thick is not that big, but not for slender wrist for sure, i also prefer 36mm but my wrist is tiny :D
A new Watchfinder video 🎉 my faith in humanity has been restored
That Patek Phillipe is an understated beauty.
If only it's CEO wasn't a complete wanker.
isn't patrimony the more dressy lineup than the traditionelle described in the video?
I don’t need a dress watch. But I love that 1908
Well, that burgundy Omega just made its way onto my "never gonna happen" grail list. Thanks, I guess. (Great video!)
Thanks. Your videos just keep improving and are just as useful as Andrew's used to be.
I'll never understand how dive watches surpassed dress watches in popularity
No Breguet is a crime.
Do you think Omega is overdue to update their 8800 & 8900 movements with a power reserve of 75 hours or more?
Not a huge fan of Jaquet Droz, but the Grande Heure Minute is stunning.
It’s funny seeing the 1908 in there with its machined bevels and then seeing a cheaper Saxonia that dogwalks it by every measure. Rolex needs to get out of the dress watch business.
Rolex does mid dress watches and grand seiko does mid sports watches. I'm agreeing with you but I get the feeling these are fighting words lol
Breguet is missing
It's not. It's a Swatch
Great episode, well done.
The Cartier looks like something you would of got in the 70,s for working 50 years in a bank

In my opinion, the best example of this type of watches and my favourite is Breguet Classique 5177 black.

Classique 5177?
The JLC for 10k? Where? It is vetween 12 - 13k in boutiques. LMK

Lange, VC, JLC. Need Breguet!
Hi,
Would you accept to review our Japanese micro-brand JUNG, model J43C-01 ?
Thank you,

No FP Journe?
Thanks for the reminder. I had forgotten that brand.
Saving the best for last. Lange is truly amazing! This Lange Saxonia beats all the others featured in this vid! Amazing!

To me a dress watch is small gold and on a strap.
Dawg I cant afford any of these watches!

Dauphine hands, not dolphin. Great video!

That Rolex 1908 is a near copy of the PP Calatrava. Even though it’s a banger I’m not surprised. Great video…nice work Tom!
These videos are just not the same....so sad. I miss talking hands.
Now you've got Croaking Voice instead😆
Is it the same voice? If no, is the other person on a different channel?

Yeah, I agree it was better with Mr Talking Hands videos. But, even he doesn't make those kinds of videos on his own channel either, unfortunately.

That Jaquet Droz Grande Heure Minute is a very nice one.
Where is NOMO?
Got it. Luxe brands copying Seiko Presage and Hamilton Navy Pioneer.
More like the reverse
…i thought Jaquet Droz (who i love and have 2) stopped making the production watches?
This guys voice , can’t comment…🤡
ur content is good by trying to copy Andrew's accent just makes me move on..
Ya shoulda paid AM what ever he wanted! Promoting the sidekick isn’t getting it done
I like the manual wound VC with the small seconds on 6 o'clock.
Finally you stopped showing your face. Never wanted to see that face. Or else it isn't clean
I’m feeling things for that Omega
Rolex finally had to decorate a movement....
Do they charge $10K extra for that?
@@Strideo1😂10 k viewing charge
Omega, Cartier, Lange - top 3 killers
The title of this video should be.... "The Cellini brand is dead..."
Most of those "dress" watches are too big!

Chaps guide music 😂
Good video, but so annoying to watch and listen to, due to way too loud audio. It frequently breaks from distortion.
RIP the cellini moonphase 😞😞😞
I've tried on the jlc. It's beautiful. But unfortunately warmer colours work best with me and I can't afford the rose gold version 😂.

@ guess I missed that one.

All too small for my taste.

@Panerai, Brightling, IWC…..
For Grand Seiko, I like SBGY007 Omiwatari more
Who needs a date on a dress watch?
If I could afford any of these dress watches I might be able to get a date for the event--and afford the price of admission.
Terrible narration. You’re just a cheap, very cheap, copy.
