Derek, she did go through it. Cancer at 18 as her career is skyrocketing, then after a surgery she had nerve damage to her tongue and lost her voice. She had to learn to talk all over again. Watch her behind the scenes of Paralyzed, you will see a different meaning to this song after you know her biography. She is an amazingly humble caring soul. Has earned her stripes.
