Definitely don't wanna lose the pin pointer in a carrot field😅
I know, I do make a little joke about it in the next video! Hope all well with you and thank you very much for watching - all the best, Alexander
Wonderful artefacts found Ally 😊 but where have all my favourite Crotal Bells gone ...It must be time ,I am sending out vibes to Morher Earth for a beautiful Crotal Bell to pop up soon !!! Hopefully Hi from us xxxShaz 💗
Thanks Shaz and sorry for not getting back sooner - just got your email too thank you I will reply in the morning!!! 😁XxX
That would have been so nice if it had happened !!! Ally 😢 Two update emails have been sent to you now, and two new Merlin videos! Oh well C'est le vie.Blessings xxxShaz
Just came across your channel, new Dutch followers here. My son comes detecting with me on occasion and also wanted the gopro with us now. I really appreciate your finds, knowledge and edditing. God knows the trouble I had even making a 5 minute video of him and me detecting. We like your videos very much. cheers from Holland
Thanks for noticing the editing Willem, it does take a long time doesn't it but you get better and faster at is though I can't sometimes put as much into them as I used to I simply don't have the time… I wish I could make enough Women money out of this to do it full time! Anyway, thank you very much for subscribing and hope all well all the best, Alexander
🤗 Very nice Alex!!! Always enjoy!!! Congrats on the great finds!! 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you very much Rae, and thank you very much for watching! Sorry not to have got back sooner but hope all well!
Very neat wax seal and I enjoyed the demo of you showing the design on it!!
And that Roman was great!! Very large coins!!
Until next time I wish you well!!!
Hope you are good!!
All good Tim - you ok? I hope so! All the Best!
A great video Ally, your knowledge of the Roman period is very impressive and makes your video`s very interesting, I hope you are keeping well, sending my best to you and Tasci, Terry.
Thank you Terry! And all good here - how are you getting on with your little terrorist? 😁
@@HolzHammerSagas Ha Ha terrorist is about right, he is into everything but we are so glad we have him, we were looking at some of your video`s with Tasci in, and Merlin was barking at the tv lol😂
More great finds from my favourite detectorist. Belting finds well done Sir.
Thank you very much, that’s much appreciated! And hope all well - all the best, Alexander
One of the highlights of my week is your video, some more beautiful treasures, Alexander. All the best on your treasure detecting, cheers Arthur
Thank you Arthur I liked reading that and hope all well with you!
Well now Alexander, lovely to drop in on you and see yet another wonderful array of finds. Hope you, Tasci and family are all well? Sorry for the lack of contact - been a manic & stressful year with family & work life....just don't get the time to watch too many vids at the moment. Anyway, I definitely feel your pain re the live digs. I have lost count of the times I have filmed numerous live digs (having set up the cameras / tripods etc) but keep finding nothing after nothing. Sometimes it's just best to dig & film, dig then film. Loved the seal matrix & particularly fond of your recounting of 4th Century Roman life....I hung on every word. Thanks as always for sharing your wonderful land & finds with us mere mortals ;0)
As I always say Marcus, please don’t feel you have to watch them at all we wouldn’t have any time left for ourselves ever if we watched all our friends metal detecting videos all day long! Anyway hope life a little less hectic for you and that you are finding a few nice things too! All the best, Alexander
Another great production of finds and video! Thanks for the drag along for us that don’t have those ancient fields.
Not at all BC thank you very much as always for watching - all the best, Alexander
It looks like the seal matrix had something soldered to the back at one point. The round area looks very much how a badly done solder joint does when it fails. Thanks for taking the time to fuss with the wax. I’ve seen a lot of seal matrices that people have found metal detecting but you’re the only one who’s ever gone the extra step. Your videos never disappoint.
Thank you rex and you might have a good point about the solder… I hadn't thought of that i'll have another inspection of that! Hope all well with you and thanks for watching - Sorry not to have got back sooner it's all a bit hectic here at the moment! All the best, Alexander
Goodness....it was a bang up buckle day. Beautiful ones.
Not bad eh, Cyndye?! Hope all well!
Super video Alexander . Stunning buckles . What a find !! Just stunning and all the history behind the coins thank you . Super informative content and brilliant editing 👏
Thank you very much Phil and thank you very much for watching! Hope all well with you
Lovely coins, Alex. Went out on my permission last week and found my first Saxon coin. It was a sceate Woden head type in very good condition.
Just like I found the Tasciovanus silver coin, it was just laying on the surface, no digging required. Take care and keep up the great work.
Good work Robert, well done indeed! I can't think what that looks like off the top my head so I'll have to look it up and signed for not having got back to you sooner it's all been a bit hectic here... I haven't had a video out since that one but got one out this evening hope you like it if you watch it and all the best, Alexander
Enjoyed as always. Always look forward to your productions.
Thank you Douglas I am glad you liked it and hope all well! All the Best, Alexander
Cool! That buckle is Perfect! Some US farmers leave such veggies as the carrots to dry in fielf. Then ship to plant where it is dehydrated as an additive to dog foods
Thats a thought Sandra and it would be nice to think they would be put at least to that use but i don't think they are... Anyway, thanks for watching and hope all well! All the Best, Alexander
Amazing land you have Alexander..fabulous array of finds 👏 👍
Thank you very much Scott hope all well with you! All the best, Alexander
Je trouve plus les mots !! Pour toutes c’est magnifique trouvailles. Félicitations Alexander top top top 👍 👍👍🤪🫣🫣👏🍾🍾
Thank you very much Roland - it’s much appreciated! And thank you for watching! All the best, Alexander
Great video as always Alex. Thanks.
Thank you very much Nick, and hope all well with you!

I am very pleased thank you Jayne and hope all well! All the Best, Alexander

What a great day Alexander. Love the finds esp' the 1700 William 3 coin. What a clear date. All the best, John.
Thanks John and sorry not to have got back sooner! Hope all well!
Wow wow..Those spots always are giving aren't they. Glad to see you out buddy. Great hunt as always
Thank you very much Don , and hope all well with you!
Fantastic video as always mate some lovely finds well done 👍
Thank you very much and hope all well!
Great video Alexander. That sealmatrix you found is beautiful. I found one last year. Great finding those personal items. There my favourite finds. Greatings from Holland!
Thanks Thijs! Very good you found one too; what did it say? Hope all well1
Hi Alex what a cracking seal matrix plus a great follis as well..👍👍
I think that’s the nicest matrix I found… It would be nice to know a bit more about the owner but I can’t find anything on her! All the best, Alexander
What a great video again! amazing finds, Cheers.
Thanks Alex and hope you are finding a bit too!
Wow Alexander, some cracking finds there 👌
Thanks Roddy! It was a very nice start to the 2023 post harvest campaign! Hope all well
Great work😊
Thanks Glenda!!! And hope all well!
great finds Alex .....
Thanks Dazza! Hope all well!
Wow Alex brilliant and the descriptions as usual so informative
Thank you very much Paul, that’s very nice to know! And hope all well with you
Your videos are the best and I have watched a lot of detecting and mudlarking videos. Your camera work and the added history (and Tasker?, the dog is also great) from Australia
Thank you Shelaw! That was very nice to read - Hope all well down there and All the Best, Alexander ( and Tasci!)
Great finds Alexander, brilliant to see your latest upload and I love the back to the ranch sections they really are becoming a trade mark of your videos. Maybe you could show us your speaker set up ? I’d like to set up something like that for my deus as I’m not over keen on headphones.
Thank you very much Jonny - I’m not sure the speaker system is a particular effective answer I only use that so that you can hear it on the videos… I suggest like me a comfortable set of AirPods as the answer the audio is really good through them
Buckletastic! Some great finds there, chap. I'm in total agreement regarding the rubbing of finds - what more harm can you do to them? I was once berated for rubbing a hammered coin, so I put it under a microscope and showed them the image, which showed a mass of scratches of various severity which it had acquired over years in the ground.
Ha well done I like the microscope trick! Hope all well - you finding a bit?
@@HolzHammerSagas Nothing. Reason being, the last time I swung a detector was when I was with you!🤣
Wonderful history hunting there Sir, I really enjoyed the exploring the English countryside with you and seeing all your nice treasures that you uncovered. Thank you so much for doing all the hard work.
Not at all Nolarino thank you for watching! All the Best, Alexander
Great intro Alexander, I didn’t find anything dance worthy but managed a silver artefact on the weekend on a permission of mine. All the best 🎉🎉
Sounds cool Jay, what was it? Hope all well!
… And sorry not to have got back sooner!
I thought you forgot about me 😂 I think it may of been the back of a Victorian comb brush. It’s cleaned up to a right charm 👌
Never used a pinpointer always use my hand as a scoop ,excellent video
Good for you John, and I do you do that occasionally especially when I forget mine but I must say generally speaking it's quite handy to have and you do you save quite a lot of time especially on the tiny bits and pieces the old Deus picks up! Hope all well with you and thanks for watching - sorry not to have got back sooner.
Had your work cut out detecting that field. Certainly worth while though. Do love finding a nice buckle. Well done. Xx
Thanks Amanda! Good fun though I got several more good finds out of it! Hope all well with you!
G'day Alexander, incredible finds. All those buckles, we just find horse tack buckles here😂. Some great coins, my favourite was the 1700 wiii. So interesting as always mate, Very enjoyable history. Take care, all is good here starting to warm up not that we had a cold winter 😂 in Queensland. ✌️👍🇦🇺🦘
Good to know and hope all well with you Allan! All the Best, Alexander
Wow I found a Constantius Chlorus in my latest video. I read up on him but it’s amazing to hear your research on him too! Well done on a great coin and I love that seal matrix 👍
Read up about the Tetrarchy too Hammy, fascinating period of history - Diocletian was quite a cool dude and his ideas on paper were brilliant they just didn't really work in real life (Jesus, you can say that again.. almost 30 years of Civil War after he abdicated… ) an interesting period of Roman history and we know quite a lot about it - the contemporary sources are good for that era - Hope all well... keep learning!
You never disappoint.
Thanks Jeremy! Good to know and hope all well! All the Best, Alexander
absolutely love your channel . may just take this up thankyou for sharing;
You should do BC, but watch out it can be quite addictive! Hope all well with you and thank you very much for watching! All the best, Alexander
Great vid as always Alex! Seal matrix was fantastic. Sorry about the horse flies chewing on you- we have yellow flies here, very nasty. Good to see you in the fields having fun. Cheers from stormy North Florida.
My God they give a bite and how they land on you without you noticing is beyond me given their size!!!! Hope all well with you - yellow flies dont sound like that much fun either!
👋Lovely stuff as ever, and Loving that seal matrix 😍 Yes, I think it's absolutley the right thing to do - to 'bring it back to life' and make a wax imprint. It's a Fab touch for the videos, (+ I doubt it can do much harm... 🙏🏻). Anyways, thanks as ever, and best wishes from Cheshire - Bobby 🐪
Thanks Bobby!!! Hope all well in sunny Cheshire!
@@HolzHammerSagas Yeah good thnx matey - a 2nd Hammered now for the Deus 2 = a TINY Commonwealth 1/2 Groat at 8"!! Any closer to getting yours Alex?... 🙏
Your videos are fun to watch, and the historical background of the items is fascinating.
Thank you very much and hope all well Mary! All the Best, Alexander
It's great to see you back, sir, and terrific finds as usual 🙂
I've been working a Roman carrot field for the last week (I've walked 58 miles according to my watch), going up and down and up and down the rows. The trimmings are a perfect distance apart for my swing so it's ideal for me and much easier than detecting on stubble. My wife isn't that bothered what I find as long as I bring back some monster carrots 😁
58 miles?????!!! My God Muzzy that’s a Herculean task! Well done - have you found much? All the Best, Alexander
Love, love, love your videos. Great history lessons.
Thanks Jackie - i learn more than anyone as I have to mug up a little on the subject too! Hope all well and All the Best, Alexander
Really great finds Alexander, that first buckle is a real interesting one, looks to Delicate to hold anything substantial. The Roman coins were very nice as well, I can't wait to see you clean up that one you inadvertently hit. Be well sir, shout out to Tasci and the family. Thank you for all of your efforts on bringing us into your day. 😉
Not at all Christian and thank you very much for watching - I am so sorry not to have got back to you sooner it's all been a bit hectic here but I do have another video out this evening which I hope you enjoy if you manage to watch it…! All the best, Alexander
Another fine adventure Alexander, with some lovely pieces. I have to ask, those leftover carrots aren't wasted, are they? Maybe, a big rake. I don't think you had a shot where you couldn't see a half-dozen of them lying around. Same with those onions last year. Hmm, I must have a thing against food wastage. Anyways, thanks again.
Francine it is Horrifying to see what was left - unbelievable - I don't know what happens to them though lots of nice food for the rabbits and deer etc! Hope all well!
Enjoyed your video. Really informative as always and it is so useful when experienced detectorists give information on their finds as us beginners can learn a lot from you all.👏👏👏👏
That’s very good to know and I’m glad you enjoyed it - hope all well and all the best, Alexander
As always , great recovery of history on the them finds , fantastic content week after week ,thanks for sharing with us , please keep the videos coming , great work Alexander 🥇
Thank you very much Chris, And I'm so sorry not to have got back sooner - its been a bit hectic here and that's one of the reasons I haven't had a video out for a bit but there is one out this evening - hope you like it if you watch it and all the best, Alexander
New subscriber. Such a great episode, thank you
Thank you melbxs much appreciated and hope all well - All the Best, Alexander
Lovely seal.
Just got back myself. Just one and a half bashed hammereds, a roman, a silver naval cufflink half and some 1700s coppers, one being Dutch.
Good work Paul sounds like you had a good day!
Some epic finds there! Glad to see the detecting season is well underway and I hope to see more finds soon 👍 good luck!
Thank you very much I'm sorry not to have got back sooner! Hope all well with you!
Great video and a lovely selection of finds you had there Alexander that seal was a stunner 👌
Wasn’t it just Darren?! the best that I have found and So personal too… Hope all well with you and thanks for watching! All the Best, Alexander
G’day again from Brisbane Australia.
I really enjoyed watching your latest detecting video and especially the finds and your thorough description, research and narration.
I don’t know what you use to stand your camera on when you film digs out in the field but I was wondering what you think about a garden fork.
The 4 pronged ones that you use your foot to push into the soil?
I don’t know if it would be practical considering what you carry and if your camera can be mounted efficiently on it.
Anyway, thank you again and I look forward to watching your next detecting video.
Andy
Thanks Andy and thanks for the tip about the fork but as you rightly pointed out I carry far too much stuff already to be able to lug the garden fork out with me as well! I have a tripod - in facrI have two tripods that are quite light weight and do the trick! Anyway thank you very much for watching - it’s much much appreciated and hope all well!
@@HolzHammerSagas no worries and best of luck on your detecting.
Andy
Some great finds alex my favourite was the seal...👍
Thanks Mrlan and hope all well! Thanks for watching!
Be still my beating heart. Lovely finds. I have only found one Chess style matrix, but it had a castle with a draw bridge on it. No writing :(
Sounds very cool Chuck! Hope all well with you!
well. one more I got
your two buttons at the end must have come from my area or neighbouring continental Denmark
first one is a "Arsenbronzeknopf" (not arsenic at all but simply silvery tombac) and the other one (suspected cuff link) also shows a very common local design - both are like early georgian and you get literally like a dime a dozen of them on my fields ....or rather two dozen .....
Is that so? - thanks feldgeist!
Great stuff
Ha! Well done Fergus you’re a good lad! 😁
Wonderful! Do I spot a Wryneck?
The seal matrix is very special - I agree that the personal items are extra special to find.
Alexander, is there any way I could contact you regarding a connection with your ornithological taxidermy collection?
I am so grateful for the work that you put in to these videos and the information on finds. I immensely enjoy headquarters.
Many thanks
Sarah (Brambleton on hub)
Hi Sarah, hope all well! It’s not a wryneck I think you are talking about my hawfinches! And I would be very interested to see the collection of Taxidermy could you email me at alexander.westenholz@gmail.com? All the Best, Alexander
Very nice Wemyss Pig 😂
Not Wemyss Craig!
Great Finds could it be isabella of Spain
Gosh that would be nice Jesse!
Outstanding seal Alexander, what is your thoughts on the circular impression on the reverse? definitely something? but I have never seen that before.
I’m just not sure Michael… Someone suggested it could be a Victorian collectors label but I think that’s very unlikely as I’m not sure a collector would lose part of his collection in the middle of a field firstly! And secondly it’s very encrusted so I’m really not sure… What do you think? Hope all well and thank you for watching.
I know its easy to say what it isnt, but that is,.... well lets just say, extremely unlikely lol
if you find the time just humour me and measure it against a medieval silver penny, I might be way off but I wonder if it could have been a silver coin soldered or adhered in some way to the back of the seal. Not sure why they would do that but its a possibility especially if its the correct size.@@HolzHammerSagas
As always, amazing content! Absolutely love your channel. I have recently purchased a Deus Lite and was wondering what you use for a speaker. I have tried a Bluetooth transmitter and a BT speaker but find the signals lag terribly. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I had to buy loads of different ones from Amazon as I couldn't find one that worked… this one is not very good either I certainly wouldn't use it as a replacement for headphones or earpieces though I only have it so that you can hear it when I'm recording! Sorry not to be more helpful! And good luck with the deus Lite it's a great machine - I actually gave in a week or two ago and bought the new are one but I don't think I'll ever stop using that Lite at times!
@HolzHammerSagas I have purchased another transmitter in hopes it will work but may have to go with a wired speaker. Thank you for your reply and keep up the great work!!
I use a wired splitter from the jack insert for the "puck"@@bentrodboys4245 and have one going to the earphones and one to the speaker so I can still hear it in my ears... let me know how you get on!
very nicely preserved matrix but "sealing wax isn't ideal" and the one you got also not the one Isabelle would have used 😂
remember, back in the days the matrixes were new and without any patina that could be damaged as modern seal wax hardens too much and often you see bits of patina or whole matrix pieces gotten stuck to it (yours neverteless looks like it can suffer a bit)
I use a mixture of also unauthentic regular clear paraffin with a tiny amount of cooking oil added to soften it further (too much oil will prevent proper sealing)
.....and it's yellowish for the common nobility, green for the clergy and black for the holy military orders.....and gold if you want to stamp a royal seal.......so far I never had the opportunity to do the latter, lol ....
red however became popular a few hundred years after Isabelle's late 13th early 14th
should be enough smartassing for today 🤗
Good points as always feldgeist your knowledge always impresses me! Hope al well and Thank you!
😂👍🙏
Hi Tasci 😂 can you ask Dad if he has ever found a gun metal coin? I did this week in superb condition. 😊
Do you mean Gun money Jetsdad? If so yes, only one and I bet it's not as good as your one that's well done they are lovely coins and very interesting - Do you know the history of them…?
Handed mine to FLO today. Love it
@@HolzHammerSagas I have learnt a bit about them. Very interesting 👌
Instead of wax, use silly putty to make an impression with Isabel’s seal!
good advice thank you Patti!
Doesnt your camera have that feature where its always filming and deleting and you can just press the record button and it saves the last 5-10 minutes of footage... Get some easy live dig clips in
I don’t think it’s that swanky….
Enough carrots for your winter soups.
Yes Heré - they taste pretty good actually! Hope all well!
Where about in the south east of England are you? Im in the south east as well and I was wondering if your area may have the same history as mine
Im in East Herts Alprini - where are you - East Anglia is good generally.. Hope all well!
I am located in the Hampshire area right on the coast!@@HolzHammerSagas
Ive fancied you for yonks 😅
in Latin!!!!! 😂
According to Google, Palmyra is an ancient archaeological site located in modern-day Syria. Coincidence?
Spell slightly differently Spitalhatch, but yes… Palmyra is very famous - it had a very famous Queen; Queen Zenóbia who declared herself as Emoress of that part of the Empire at some point before being defeated she was then taken back to Rome as captive but left to live very happily after that!
Evening Alex I was just wondering if you could tell me the make and model of your speaker as I would like to order one for my deus 2 lite 👍
Sorry Scott it doesn't have a name I can't remember where I bought it from even - I had to buy loads of cheap ones from Amazon one after the other because none of them seem to work until I found that one… I definitely wouldn't use it as a substitute for earpieces though I only have it so that people can hear it when i am recording... anyhow good luck let me know if you find something better because I'm keen to get something else now… hope all well with you
@@HolzHammerSagas will do Alex cheers for the reply and good luck on the next 👍
@@scottwoolner4698 thanks Scott , you too!
🍀🍀🍀✌
Thanks Stephan! 😁
Love your videos and seeing the wonderful finds all cleaned up at headquarters. However, please stop shouting. Your microphone is picking up your voice very clearly. It must be exhausting for you.
Not again Barbara... its not exhausting I do it naturally as I have said I have FAR too much to think about filming, studying and not to mention the days it takes to edit these things ( For absolutely zero Reward I may add!) without having to consciously change my diction - please watch someone else or use the subtitiles - I usually spend about 2 hours editing those too!!!
Nice one again thank for doing the videos nice finds young man. From sunny St Breward Cornwall 😊
Thanks Tim and hope all well with you down there! All the best, Alexander
