NOTE: We are playing with the Target edition for Downforce. It is similar to the original edition, but has some adjusted Power cards.
DOWNFORCE!! One of my favourites!! Just wanted to say, it plays very different in 2-player than with 3-6 players. Personally, I adore the chaos of a full table.
Have you tried any of the expansion maps yet?
@@WatchItPlayed Yup! I have them all! My favourites are the purple "night circuit" from the first expansion, and the one with the jumps from the second.
In your opinion, is it worth picking up for just 2 player?
@@zdelorean88 My first time playing it was 2 player with a friend and it was...fine. Just fine. But it really shines in my opinion at higher player counts. And because of the design, it has almost identical gameplay length regardless of number of players.

Way to control the choke points; that and having all the six numbered cars and the power was a trifecta, ruthless indeed.

Very fun game! I played with 3 and it was a relatively short but fun game. I think one of the racers ran away with it and the others couldn’t really keep up, but the multiple drivers and betting made it interesting to the end
Yeah, I really like the betting aspect - it keeps everyone involved, even when their personal cars are falling behind.

Well, it is from Restoration Games, based on a game originally from, I think 1977! It's a wonderful game, so easy to teach, with lots of opportunity for strategy and interesting choices, and every game is filled with laughter and cheers!

@@DenisRyan Yes. The original seems to be a spin-off of 3M's Speed Circuit. Similar in style, a bit different in play. Excellent games.

In Rodney's teaching video, there were other power cards than the ones y'all had (unless I'm remembering wrong). Are there more than 6 power cards included with the game or possible expansion?
EDIT now that I've finished the video: This game looks so cool! It's mechanically light but still really compelling and engaging. I don't think I have room on my shelf for more but I think I'd like to have this game, or at least a friend that has this game.
Lastly, I just wanna say both y'all's hair is looking great!
The version they have here is the new one for Target - rules are the same, but some powers are removed, I believe.

These power cards come from the Target edition of the game which is releasing (now, I think?).

This is a very decent game. Reminds me of 3M's Speed Circuit but with a definitive twist. Haven't gotten any of the expansions for it yet though.

I just saw this game at Target this past weekend.
I was holding it in my hand and ready to walk to the checkout lane.
But then I thought to myself that the little cars looked cheaply made, so I put the game back on the shelf.

Check target's sites and others. Target matches most other big chain stores. I bought GLOOMHAVEN JOTL there and paid $39 instead of $49 because of their website. Good luck.

Your power cards are different than mine.
They are playing with the new edition releasing from Target, which has some new Power cards.
I always overpay for green in this game. No strategy there, I just really like green.
I have a similar problem with the blue car...
So are there any points awarded for the two earlier bets or is it just the final bet?

They are both racing games, but I think you might find they play quite differently.

Hey there, you'd have to provide a time stamp for the section you are asking about. It sounds like you might be describing a situation in which a car is passing two others through a diagonal though, which is allowed. Like many, I’ve pumped up my version with Mario Kart!! A buddy and I also created some rules which incorporate chain chomps and piranha plants, item boxes, and grabbing dropped coins!
If you want to show it off and play, we can do a stream thing and I’ll run the board. Bowser, Metal Mario, Rosalina, blue shells, tornadoes, fire balls, let’s gooo!

She made 3 illegal moves. The cars cannot go sideways, it can go diagonal, but not how she played them
Hey Gregory, I didn't have timestamps, but your comment had me concerned, so I watched the video through again and did not find any faults in her movement. If you have a timestamp for a mistake, let me know, but I'm wondering if you misunderstand the rules for movement. You can go to an adjacent space, the restriction is based on the front line of the space.
This makes more sense now. I had the idea that both spaces at the 24:10 mark would have been perpendicular and not a legal move but now that I read that it makes sense. We dont have a target in my home town so I haven't played this game before. I'm really looking forward to my copy coming in the mail!
