Easily one of the most interesting themes for a game I've ever seen. I only have one concern though: what would you say the balance is between roleplay and mechanics here? I would hate this to be a dry, purely mechanic-driven card game, but I also wouldn't want the whole "play the lawyer" thing to feel forced, if you know what I mean.
The mechanics are the core of the game, but we tried to bake in as much theme as possible for people to run with if they want to, but without it getting in the way of those who don't.
Oh yeah, I get what you mean for sure. That said, I'm not sure I can help much there as I would avoid trying to assess the balance for another person, because it's going to be so subjective. What I find to be dry vs. thematic could be quite different from someone else.

Solo Mode: Does the Automa ignore matching biases when adding cards to its examination? Does the Automa gain influence when adding a card? If yes, does the influence have to be its color or neutral? Since the Automa is adding cards, does it ignore card effects? Does the Automa object my argument if I am already at 5 or more influence? Does the Automa ignore the victory and defeat conditions on their examination and witness cards?

Ive seen the playthrough of mansion of madness and it looks like playing with rodney is a lot of fun. Therefore I think the Rodney variant should be the rule.

@@notcreativewithnames2625 I do my best to answer all rules questions on the games I cover, but I avoid individual card effects, as that's a level of detail beyond what I can manage across all the videos I do. That said, in this case, the effect is not saying to discard their entire examination deck (what you wrote in your first comment), just the top card there. And then yes, you'd reduce the influence by its value. Hope that helps!
I would have loved to get an outcome statement provided by the game. I do see the game as a story telling game but an outcome at the end, one for each side, would have helped me get more involved. The case just ended for us. We did have a good time role playing but we didnt have a closing statement from the game.
Here's a scenario: If I play an evidence card that states "Examine: +2 Value for each evidence card currently in your examination." Do I get +2 Value from the evidence card I just played that triggered this effect?
I’m about to play my first game and in the rulebook it just says when A witness is called the player who call the witness as the primary value to their influence and the Player who did not call the witness adds the secondary value. It does not say that you do not collect the secondary value if it’s not in your color
You don't add the value if it's not your color. I'm not sure what you're looking at in your rule book, but this video has it correct (we work with the publisher who also checks it over before it goes live - sometimes a mistake can still happen, but there's not a mistake in this case). In the rules on Page 19, you'll also see an example confirming this. Hope that helps.

I often wondered if there was another law based game. I own Point of Law, the vintage 3M bookshelf game. We enjoy it, but this looks like fun too!
