    Thanks for the video! Great guns, been hunting with a 12 & 20 gauge for over 25 years! Never had a problem! My experience has been to apply an ultra light coating of oil on the recoil spring. My buddies gun was hanging up and we oiled the spring and it solved the problem. I met a guy hunting and he had an old 12 gauge, and he said he never cleaned his in 40 years and it still worked fine.

    I've just acquired a Franchi 48 AL at a gun show and I love the weight and the looks of the gun. I have a Remington with the Browning patent (square back) that belonged to my father so was a little familiar with the semi-auto action. However, until I watched your video I was a little intimidated to break it down (including the Remington) so thank you for the concise video.

    You did a great job!
    I would suggest that you amend by providing advice on how to lubricate this gun. This would include cleaning plus where and where not to lubricate.

    Really good video. I just bought a Franchi Fenice 28 ga which is basically a 48 al . Glad to see how its broken down. I'm used to a Browning A5 which has the same recoil system. Thanks again.

    Great video. Between your video and one from Downeast gunworks I got a comprehensive and detailed inservice on how to clean my Franchi. You had very good up close presentation of the governor ring setting which was helpful.

    Great video young man, great ambassador for the younger generation! I'm buying an AL48 on Saturday, heard a mixed bag of reviews but overall they seem to be a great workhorse! Fingers crossed anyway!! 😃

    Thanks for the great video! I agree with you that the toughest part is compressing the spring in the butt stock. However, I was able to do it without any effort at all once I tried this trick. I took a .22 cal rifle cleaning rod and fed it through the back piece and through the spring. Then it was just a matter of pushing the two pieces together. Then the spring couldn't get away or kink.

    Shove the barrel into the receiver when installing the barrel. Grease the barrel grooves and top of the barrel, chrome looking part. That barrel rides into the receiver when cycling.

    on my 20ga.Franchi 48 the barrel mount onto the magazine tube (the round mount welded under the barrel proper) is also beveled. I would let the beveled silver governor ring ride next to the large spring, then the friction ring then the barrel. This applies constriction to the friction ring on both sides.... then if you have a very light load reverse the beveled side of the governor ring to the flat side riding on the friction ring, thereby reducing the constriction on the friction ring. Just a thought.

    Governor needs bevel down for light loads. Gun worked fine two years ago to shoot skeet with a 7 1/2 load, but it kept jamming last year, and we just adjusted it today. Correction sprain is hard to remove and install. You said not to oil underneath the large spring so is there a way to oil the friction spring?

    great video ..thanks for the tip on the governor ring setting... hey quick question i got the same shotgun do you know if you can shoot steel shot with it i know for a fact the the choke on it is a cylnder constriction..

    • @pdvideos330
      @pdvideos330  10 лет назад

      Nick Mantello I'm not sure, usually the only reason you don't shoot steel out of a gun is because of the choke, I would have to research that to find out.

    Thanks for your video I give you a thumbs up.
    I just cleaned my gun in middle of pheasant season I can only get one shot off all of a sudden and second shot jams1 st shot not ejecting I've been using high brass.
    I have a question about the friction ring on mine is very tight to get on on, also my fore grip needs to be cranked down super tight to prevent front stock from being loose, when I but gun but on floor and push down it feels pretty hard to get spring to work.
    I think my friction ring is to tight what do you think.
    I'll call Franchi next week and ask but I plan on hunting next week Tue ,Thur, sat

    Would the friction ring, friction spring and governor ring out of the browning A5 work on this gun? Seeing how they are impossible to find for the franchi 48al 12ga

    I just purchased a new 20 gauge 48 AL. I cannot remove the brass sliding ring over the threaded end of the shell chamber. any suggestions?

    • @gregoryburnell8117
      @gregoryburnell8117 5 лет назад

      try a bit harder..by slightly relieving the tension on the rings maybe a wide screw driver. just a little light pressure should move the rings over the threaded end of the magazine tube.

    Awesome job on the video, thumbs up. Two suggestions: first, the magazine spring retainer should be removed with a pair of internal snap ring pliers. Second the intro music is really loud and your voice is not, you should be able to adjust that in your video editor.
