Slasher makes just about any and all melee weapons viable. Try the tomahawk for practically permanent temp health, sickles for hp life steal or the dual cleavers to never get melee fatigued!

Yes!!! A lack of UI has been a problem that has plagued this game since launch. There wasn't even a stamina meter until drone master was added. And there still isn't any way to tell the energy of your drone.
I've been having a blast as a Slasher with the Tomahawk and the masking effect perk for every 10 zombies killed. Get the best of both worlds with little to no cool down. Definitely OP.
Since slasher is a tank and excels at front line defense u should instead of masking affect use the temp health I think it's called vigorous and use the 25% extra health perk too bc it makes u tank more and vigorous stacks with the tomahawk
The dual knives actually serve a cool little niche. the exterminator perk "crowd control" adds push radius to your knives, a) this push radius buff is enough to give you reload time with the perk "bullet rain" to stay alive during the exterminators weak spot which is between hordes. Also, when you start with the shotgun, you can shot a zeke then immediately melee them to proc the buff and one shot everything (works well during hordes as the stragglers get close, melee them then a whole pyramid becomes your bitch).
I love the cleavers... especially as a slasher,. With the perk that grands a masking effect after 10 kills. My last daily challenge on a Moscow map, I had almost 600 kills of which were 259 melee. I love it... can't wait for the horde XL...
Been in love with my katana ever since my crew got it a while back. I was very happy to see it get the recognition it deserved with Aftermath. That being said, I tried out all the melee weapons, and as an exterminator using shotguns, I'm up front most often (and thus get into the most melee trouble), I've found the additional killpower of the katana with Aftermath to be undeniable in tough situations. HOWEVER I could see myself using a different weapon if there was an actual indicator telling me when I've procced a bonus.
Sledgehammer is dope - you can be infected and kill infect or any special and you’re no longer infected. Immunity lasts 3 seconds so if you then slash a gasbag you’re immune.
Dual Knives and Tomahawk are two of the best melee weapons overall. Tomahawk doesn't need much explanation. What makes Dual Knives strong is reaching the golden Power 10 to oneshot on Extreme. +25% firearm damage is enough to make Power 8 of most automatic rifles and all Power 9 semi auto become oneshot for 3 seconds. When you use weapons with Penetration, more zombies will have less than full HP. You only need Dual Knives to hit once or twice at the most to get your +25% firearm damage every 3 seconds. If you have Medic's Fighting Fit, +50% firearm damage is enough to turn any Power 7 weapons into a oneshot machine. Dual Knives best for offensive style Tomahawk best for defensive style.
zombies already die 1 shot to the head though but I see what you mean if you need to spray or aim at a pyramid. Just wish the knives made a sound or show a UI change
You know that signature moves rely on melee stamina to activate with all skills on melee weapons. Meaning if you don't have stamina the perks don't work. Also 2nd wind and noble death is pretty op with exterminator. And the tomahawk is the best melee weapon in the game.
Correct, that is how it works! Which is why unless you're playing as slasher or a prestiged exterminator only a select few melee weapons are viable perk wise.

Whenever you're heavily surrounded or have a small horde in front of you, a single hit will push them back and disperse them, giving you enough time to shoot them or reload. (Combine this tactic with the reload ⭕ icon, it will automatically reload once it gets past half) for faster reloads.

Light melee best one is dual sickles for non slashers, dual cleavers are for slashers since it's very hard to kill 5 zombies in rapid succession on harder difficulty. Medium melee best is tomahawk and hammer, wakizashi is good but you have to die to use the perk. On harder difficulty that's usually a bad thing since the respawn times are so long. Heavy melee best one is fireaxe if you don't have the sledgehammer. The pushback on sledgehammer is clutch sometimes. Just my two cents Also happy birthday 🎂🎂🎂
@@shoemcflextheflex2199 depends on what you really need. Do you run out of health often? use the sickles or tomahawk(my recommendation is the tomahawk). Do you get swarmed often? use the sledgehammer or the breaching hammer(medium one). If you can sustain yourself and can manage health/don't get swarmed often then probably the cleavers since they refill your melee stamina and as a slasher that is a streight plus. Try 'em out all and see what works
About the wakizashi - The main sword for Japanese samurai is either a Tachi or Uchigatana (known as Katana). Wakizashi is the secondary blade soldiers would sometimes carry, for them to fall back to, or work as the main blade in tight urban/indoor spaces. Sometimes they would carry even shorter secondary blades, such as the tanto. This piece of information is pretty irrelevant, but somehow I just want to let you know lol

i like the ones where it drops medkit because it's useful sometimes when you're on your own, but it's quite rare for it to drop.. the most i got is 2 medkit per round
with slasher you can kill tons of zombies with melee weapons though so if you're the one killing them silently as you go through a level the chance may happen more than you think

Cleansing is designed for gas bags and infectors, which is really good because it is a quick way to deal with some deadly specials. Also I think cleansing works on rats but that is a really hard thing to test. Great video as always!

As for the vid, i find the heavy hammer rarely useful (for ex. i got spit by an infector and killed her so then the infection didnt affect me, however that is highly unreliable) the gun kata perk NEEDS a sound to be useful, yet there are still better weapons. The tomahawk and cleavers have been the most reliable ones, and since your suggestion i've been using the medium hammer (which i really like now btw). For heavy weapons i like the hammer, but i still prefer the others.

After 100+ hrs playing I conclude if you're using melee to kill zombies, you're doing it wrong (at least in higher difficulty or horde mode). You should be head shot-ing zombies instead, i.e. always shot your guns at head height into the horde. I only use melee to take care of straggler sneaking up on me. For big frontal wave, head shots all the way.
I played vanguard recently and melee is a way you can basically become immune to all attacks basically. I used to think that headshots are the way, nope, one-shotting zombies with melee due to 50% damage bonus with shield holstering for 5 seconds, then recharging all melee attacks IS the way lol.
were all zombie i mod file now get 3 to 5x zombies on extreme i get 5000 to 20,000 in 1 hour on sum maps they just re-spore none stop, even with trainer u still die over welling hordes 100's coming at you. i wanted been more like the movie. i try no trainer on any level u dead in min's so want game going be harder i find place upload it ok. if know good site tell me.

dual knifes have to be used with vanguard with this rotation Hold LMB+f+MMB= shoot auto + kata

Good guide but there is one thing the light melee weapons do not onehit with slasher!
you're right and I was totally wrong! wtf. try using stun gun more and having it do extra damage in perks, should help with 1 hitting zombies.

For me I like the fire axe. Has one hell of swing whenever I get surrounded
