Great video Scott :) I have had this for 2 years now. I have read alot of haters who have criticised the sounds.... remember folks this is a workstation not a stage piano.....and let me tell you this thing is loaded with features.... sampler, sequencer, arpeggiator, six user-assignable Sound Modify knobs, over 2000 sounds... this list goes on. I recently downloaded some more sounds from the Roland website....great support. So if you are judging this on the piano sounds alone, you may be a bit disappointed, but if you are producing/arranging.... this beast is great!!
I had an 08. Sold it and my Integra 3 years ago due to emergency. I am currently in process of buying both again. Yes software can definitely compete but the Integra can do quite a few sounds better than anything I’ve come across. I own a Korg Prologue 16 and JD-XAas well but the FA08 is an amazing live unit and can actually compete with my actual Synths. My main reason for buying another FA is THE FEEL. It’s a joy for someone like me with a heavy touch. It’s also not too shabby as far as weight to usefulness ratio. I think it kicks the Kronos out of the park. Yes I owned a Kronos
Hello,I’m interested in the fa08,does it have a real good piano sound?thats my first priority, was going to get a nord grand, but money became a problem,do you get any drop in sound if you layer like say a grand piano and a pad or strings or whatever, any input would help, thank you.
Forget the MOTIF, I want the FA-08!! I have been wanting this for soo long. I've watched every video there is for this thing. Dear Santa, wait, screw Santa, I want this now!!
I got mine and its amazing! pianos, electric pianos and especially the super natural organs are a big improvements! The leslie effect on the organs sounded better comparing to previous roland boards. that's my opinion anyway...before... they tended to sound more like a vibrato. Let me add that compare to the competition such as Krome or MOXF...this board have a different personality...that's all...
I know this video is from 2014 but all of this stuff sounds so old. I have been with Roland for a long time. Starting with the alpha Juno. Then the Xp 50 and even the Fantom S, but they really need to update their sound and image. I just feel that they are being out paced by the competition. In sound and innovation.

How do we compare FA-08 sound wise to Jupiter 80? Please disregard workstation/performance types, I am just interested in sound capabilities . How do they compare in expressiveness, and sound design capabilities? How do they compare in acoustic instruments and vintage synths (80s analog) emulation? Does FA-80 makes any compromises sound wise to Jupiter 80, giving the fact that it is a full workstation?
I am SO happy with my FA-08. I love the quality of sounds. However the drawbar control requires a bit of menu digging. Plus I need more keys (in addition to 88) for synthing/organ. I love building studio sets, but it requires sacrificing key space to make way for other sounds. I require the FA's whole keybed for whatever my main sound is at that time. My idea is to have Piano(or whatever my main sound is at the time) on the FA's 88 Keybed, layered with whatever pad/string/other sound I deem fit. Then I want to midi out organ and synth (lead or pad or whatever) to the A800 Pro. My questions: 1) Can this be done? 2) Can I assign drawbar control of FA to A800 pro for organ? Can I assign realtime effects to A800 pro for whatever sounds I midi to controller? Your advice is greatly appreciated.
Is the FA is actually the new Fantom??? Did Roland replace the Fantom series with the FA series. I asked because I'm trying to sit out for the new Fantom and not get cheated like years ago when I bought the Roland X6 and with in 3 weeks Roland released the Fantom G series. I want to upgrade from my Fantom X6 but I want to wait out on the new Fantom. Or is the FA the new Fantom? If so.... I'll upgrade to one.
It's not really since unlike the Fantom X and G series the sampler can't be used for the sound engine. Key feature missing here I think unless you really don't use that but it limits you in sounds that you can create. It also has no after-touch but otherwise similar internals.
For some reason I don't think they'll pursue the big studio center keyboards anymore. The world has moved towards computer and even tablet based music making. So I think we will see more keyboards like this which are less of workstations but more of sound library and elaborate computer connectivity.

Yeah, people actually praise this keyboard because the lack noticeable note cut-off when switching to different tones and instruments. So yeah, no cutting off, and also no stepping when using the modulator knobs.
Yea, go and try them out. Hey, stillwarm; you lovin that Yamaha MOXF6? When I bought my Kronos its was hard to decide between the Yamaha MOXF6 and the Korg Kronos.
Ia the only way to get sounds into the DAW using the SD card, or can you record directly to the DAW via USB? I noticed the manual says their USB driver is for both MIDI and audio, but the only demos I've seen show the player always dumping tracks to the card, then putting the card into the computer to load the DAW. Why does the driver say "MIDI and audio" if the SD card is the only way to export sounds? Thanks!
Answering my own question; looks like yes, the only way your tracks will get into a computer DAW is via the SD card. Now, I don't want to speak ill of these folks, seems like Kraft is a pretty good dealer, but I've asked them several questions & never got an answer on any of them. So, allowing for the fact that they're probably too busy to monitor everything they put online, I'm still not very thrilled with their demos, creating questions that never get answered, for whatever reason. It's no longer a real concern of mine however, because I just received my near-new Korg Kronos X 88, and I am blown away. It will take months+ to learn it all, but I made music on it the first day, & recorded a decent tune about the third day I spent some "serious" time with it. BUT, the Roland is by far more user friendly, but also by far, no where NEAR as capable as the Kronos X. And, dat's da name of DAT tune... My last "new" keyboard was a Roland XP-80, b/4 that a Roland U-20, b/4 that a couple of Sequential Circuits, who definitely wrote the most interesting owners manuals, ever. "CAUTION-WARNING - pushing buttons in wrong order may unleash hidden functions!" Yep, it says dat... ;)
Zeek Duff aye, but the Kronos is triple the price of the FA 06. If I could afford better I'd go for the most I could buy, but for me its going to be the Roland. I also had a U20 and loved it but it died. I like Roland sounds. Today I have a Korg X5D, don;t care for it, sounds good but quite difficult to program. Got it from guitar center and got screwed, they gave me a re-packed demo with broken switches, I didn't realize it was damaged and concluded it was just impossible to program, had it over 15 yrs before I opened it up and discovered some tac switches were not working, no wonder I couldn't open the deeper menu's. I will NOT be buying my FA 06 from geetar center.
jonesgerard Ouch, yeah that's a bad one on someone's karma! You definitely got ripped off. It's impossible to discover some defect like that until you know what you're doing, so they got you by the short hairs, it would be just luck for anyone to have discovered that within the return time allowed. I've never had that kind of thing happen, knock on wood... My Kronos is working well for me, discovering a few things missing I hope they address in future OS updates, such as just adding some track editing features that are sorta hard to get at in the current version (like moving a single note), but they did do a big OS update a couple of months after I got it, and there were some huge leaps to things we can now do on the display, like drag faders; before, you had to touch the screen to highlight one, then use a hardware control. There are many other upgrades, just letting me know what I'd like regarding track edits, can be done (explode the Piano Roll track). It's easier to learn recording on than my Roland was, there's just a lot more TO learn plus Audio Recording & Sampling. I never did get a good handle on the Roland XP-80 Sequencer, went back to my old hdwr stand-alone (Kawai Q-80), then to Logic Audio. I do wish I had a version small enough to put on my recliner's armrests, but then we can't have (afford) everything!!! Hahaha... Enjoy the FA-06, and IT might even fit on your armrests! ;)
Zeek Duff I've been watching some kronos vids, that looks like it has all the stuff I need. I might as well just hold off and get what I need, the only drawback is the steeper learning curve with korg.
I think you have the right approach, and that's pretty much what I did, except I took advantage of the PayPal Credit's "no interest for 12 months" to get my Kronos X 88 sooner, rather than a lot later. I'm simply selling off a few good guitars I collected over the years that I don't really care for now, or they just don't suit me at all anymore, so it'll be paid off well before I have to pay interest on the debt. I hated doing that, but I have the resources, and rationalized it was the only way to get one & learn to use it properly in my lifetime. ;) Good luck, and keep watching the videos; I still go back to them at least once a week to see something again, now that I have the Kronos controls at my fingertips. Especially, Katsunori UJIIE's demos (musictrackjp) have helped me a lot, even those without English captions are still very useful.
I bought this workstation 2 days ago, it's a very very cool instrument, it's my first synth and i like it a lot. But I have a problem I can't solve with the sampler. When i compose a track the Sampler turns itself off, and when i finished composing and i have saved my song it doesn't work if i want to play. it works only if i turn off and turn on the synth. Someone knows something and can help me? Thanks :)
So can you basically use the sequencer as a loop station? Also, is it possible to use the sample pads to do "finger drumming"? Like in this video: ruclips.net/video/wUzkco3A5Gs/видео.html
Shivanand Gunness the FA-08 would be better compared to the Juno DS 88 because of the weighted keys. I played around with both at a store today. i had originally thought i wanted the Juno since the price was better. After playing both, the keyboard and action of FA-08 felt so much better than the Juno.
Hi I just bought a Roland FA 08 and I can only hear all sounds in mono. Even the sample songs are in mono. Can anyone help please? I tried everything and I can never get stereo sound. Thanx!
Great demo thanks. I've been buying roland and korg synths the last 20 years and very disappointed with the progression on sounds over the years. Nothing new here to entice someone to upgrade.
I've been watching these videos on loopers and sequencers for a few weeks now, and forgive me if I'm not understanding something, but the emperor seems to have no clothes with regard to an actual sequence of chords. They make one chord sound great...doing an inversion here, an inversion there, add some drums, some effects, but nothing ever goes anywhere. How could anyone listen to this for more than a minute or two? Music usually has some sort of chord progression, doesn't it? Else it's just noise. Or am I missing something?
You can change the progression, when you record it. Then match it to the first, and on. I like this keyboard. My Kronos is still my go to. But I have to have one of these.
And here I'm with a Casio CTK-710 with 61 cheap plastic keys that aren't even sensible and synths that sound awful cracking the speakers and a crappy piano sound.
Eltodofull Casios have always been no more than toys in comparison to Roland, Korg or other real instruments. That said I had a CTK for a while and even then really just used it as a controller or Bass machine. My 1991 KR 33 has better piano sounds than the modern Casio ! Most of the sounds on the Casio were pretty rubbish.
Hello there, I am a very frustrated Korg Kronos user. I am finally selling it and looking for something easier to use. The FA 08 looks very good. Could I ask a few of questions. 1. In the sequencer mode, is it possible to edit the individual instruments sound parameters? As with the kronos once you have sent the program/instrument to the sequencer there is no way of editing the sounds other than through the control panel. 2. Does the FA 08 have any preset drum loops? 3. Can the pads be used to control the drum kits/velocity? 4. Can you simply upload a midi file to the FA 08 and play it i.e I have a midi file of a classical piece of music and i want the keyboard to play it with the piano? If you could answer any of these questions it would be very much appreciated.
Reece don't sell your korg kronos! It's by far the best workstation out there! I own one also. With touchview it's very user friendly. Let me help you. What are you trying to do? I just couldn't not reply because I love my kronos and I have a feeling you'd regret selling it! I hope you still have it! :-) contact me ok?
Reece, why not record your sequences in a DAW. You can edit everything individually. You make a mistake or want to change something, no problem...adjust it, add something, or delete it.
And still, 128 voices of polyphony (which are really 64, since most voices use 2 per note). That, in 2014 is a joke. The roland XV series, released circa 2000 had 128 voices, 14 years later still 128 voices. They have no shame.
SoDiverse Productions It’s a synthesizer. You’re going to have to buy some monitor speakers o an amplifier or a PA system separately. Those cost anywhere from $100 to $800 dollars. I recommend spending about $200 to $300 on a pair of speakers for the keyboard to get good sound quality and not break your pocket. Also a subwoofer or a bass amp will do great as well.
DOES NOT HAVE INSTANT ERASE WHEN LOOPING. IF YOU LOOP SAY 4 MEASURES, AND YOU MESS UP, YOU HAVE TO SPEND THE NEXT 4 MEASURES HOLDING ERASE INSTEAD OF INSTANTLY ERASING IT LIKE ON THE ROLAND JD XI. EVEN WORSE IF YOU MESSED UP EXACTLY ON THE 4TH MEASURE, THE NEXT 4TH MEASURE WILL BE SPENT ERASING IT AND YOU WOULDNT HAVE HAD TIME TO PREPARE FOR THE NEXT 1ST MEASURE REPLAY, SO YOU HAVE TO WAIT 8 MEASURES JUST TO PLAY AGAIN!!! WHAT A HORRIBLE LOOPING STATION. ENDED UP GETTING A LOOP PEDAL WITH INSTANT ERASE SO I DONT HAVE TO STOP THE SEQUENCER EVERY TIME I MESS UP! CAN YOU IMAGINE IF IT WAS A LIVE PERFORMANCE??? DONT BUY IF YOU WANT TO LOOP
thx for this but (like most demos) we get almost nothing in the way of showing HOW you do things to at least some extent, so we can get a feel for how easy/hard the workflow is (important for many of us), and almost nothing demo-ing the sounds of actual real instruments like brass, woodwind, etc....instead getting a lot of techno electronica crap any cheap keyboard can do fairly well. cmon.....

I hated doing that, but I have the resources, and rationalized it was the only way to get one & learn to use it properly in my lifetime. ;)
Good luck, and keep watching the videos; I still go back to them at least once a week to see something again, now that I have the Kronos controls at my fingertips.
Thanks :)
Sonho de consumo! rs
вау,наконец то я смотрю такое!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So can you basically use the sequencer as a loop station? Also, is it possible to use the sample pads to do "finger drumming"? Like in this video: ruclips.net/video/wUzkco3A5Gs/видео.html
which one is better? JUNO DS or FA 06
Shivanand Gunness The FA is better man. Trust me!!
is it better than korg pa600 n akai mpk249
Shivanand Gunness Not so sure about those models.
Thanx!
Check the cables. Lookin in manual. They are special.
so this is just like the new roland fantoms?
Good!!!!!
Great demo thanks. I've been buying roland and korg synths the last 20 years and very disappointed with the progression on sounds over the years. Nothing new here to entice someone to upgrade.
very good super
Guitar sound wow
can i hook this up to ableton live
But I have to have one of these.
is it does sounds on its own or u have to plug it on your computer?
man. did u look at the video at all?
What store in Dallas, texas could i buy this instrument?
I wish Roland would have used the same keys as the Fantom G. The ones on the FA-08 feel cheap.
yes super natural drums :v
When sampling, can you play the samples via the keyboard, like a real sampler? Or only from the Pads?
only from the pads buddy!
In sequencer mode, you can play the 4 banks x 16 samples = 64 samples with the keyboard.

And here I'm with a Casio CTK-710 with 61 cheap plastic keys that aren't even sensible and synths that sound awful cracking the speakers and a crappy piano sound.
Lol I have almost the same. Ctk 6300 in
Eltodofull Casios have always been no more than toys in comparison to Roland, Korg or other real instruments. That said I had a CTK for a while and even then really just used it as a controller or Bass machine. My 1991 KR 33 has better piano sounds than the modern Casio ! Most of the sounds on the Casio were pretty rubbish.
Well, now i've got the Roland FA08. And it was like upgrading a bicycle to a Ferrari
Yes, Francis. The Casios are 'toys R us'. Light plastic keys, latent sound. The good sounds are the Yamaha's. Korg's' and Rolands.
Eltodofull nice! just got mine as well this past week...I can't get enough of it
sound me something i dont know on every keyboard
Reece Pipes im using a kronos 2 and added a FA-06. Nice combination. U can do everything together
Reece, why not record your sequences in a DAW. You can edit everything individually. You make a mistake or want to change something, no problem...adjust it, add something, or delete it.
I can't listen anymore! TD
And still, 128 voices of polyphony (which are really 64, since most voices use 2 per note). That, in 2014 is a joke. The roland XV series, released circa 2000 had 128 voices, 14 years later still 128 voices. They have no shame.
Diego Massanti But at a lower price point though.
あと一機くらい、シンセサイザーほしい 本当はroland ju-06とかjp08とかもほしいのにおしっ切ってroland fa-06だけでもいいか
Just got mine..no onboard speakers?!?
SoDiverse Productions no way...not these type of boards but an alternative to a keyboard amp is a studio monitor.
Because it’s not a toy
Kraft, as in cheese?
Well, we are based in Milwaukee, WI...coincidence?

I’ve played this keyboard at guitar center and didn’t like it. I’m feeling a little stupid right now.
Luis Santulli yes it does
thx for this but (like most demos) we get almost nothing in the way of showing HOW you do things to at least some extent, so we can get a feel for how easy/hard the workflow is (important for many of us), and almost nothing demo-ing the sounds of actual real instruments like brass, woodwind, etc....instead getting a lot of techno electronica crap any cheap keyboard can do fairly well. cmon.....
