since you mentioned remakes.. even bhool bulayya is a remake of an all time malayalam classic called manichithrathaazh. this movie was remade into several other languages.. none of the remake kept the essence of the original movie which was a classic psychological thriller.. all other languages commercialised the movie and made it over the top and made it into a horror comedy
My dear Malyali friends If someone is appreciating your work even if he is from any part of India , that doesn't mean your are mocking other film industries . ALL Industries doing of their best for our country. Please be humble don't arrogant
Hufffmmss... Thats a statement right there.. I know its a little inconvenient but being a keralite and a malayali let me tell u something.. if u measure Kerala as a state or the various metrics of social progress this state has done extremely well and in some cases on par of not better than even Europeans on social progress.. we punch above our weight.. The way we achieved this is very intresting . ... All these were done atop a foundation of unity among religious or cats or varius ethnicitys within Kerala. For creating or fostering the brotherhood that we have the government had to distroy all other sub identities that were present in the way society.. like u don't identify with your religion or your cast or anything of that sort. We distroy it deliberately. So the only identity that we have or some cohesive force that holds us together is that we are from this state of Kerala and we are Malayali. All other states in india are underperforming because of this particular reason. They are divided along their religious or linguistic lines. And are fighting eachother. There is no harmoney or a sence of brotherhood .Opportunistic politions use these tensions among communities to accumulate power for themselves and aggrevate the situation. This is the factor that holds them back. So for us feeling proud or nurturing a sence of entitlement is necessary and there is another side to this mallus criticise and self criticise ourselves to oblivion. These two are an absolute requirement for us to function as a community peaufully.. 24% of malayalies are Muslim 18% are christians 54% are Hindus devided into upper and lower castes inbetween the middle. No where else in the country u will be able to find this much difference in ethno religious identity.. yet Kerala haven't experienced a communal riot for half a century. This is the true essence of our state and we distill it from this high entitlement that we harbour in our heart. We can only identity ourselves as malayalies. I am really sorry that its very inconvenient but this pride and stubborn entitlement is the very factor that holds us together .. and keeps the religious fundamentalists out. We won't waste any opportunity to praise our state for all its merits and criticise it mercilessly for all its dark sides.. its vital for us and its very important. We need this constant bikkering to remind us that we are beyond cast and religion ... We malayalies can look past our petty difference. My apologies, but no this isn't going to change anytime soon..
