- Is your lobster worth the extinction of the North Atlantic Right Whale? Veterinarian Michael Moore explores how tragic whale entanglement -- caused by lobster fishing and other line-based fishing -- are unneccesary with new technology that promotes both whale health and your lobster dinner. Michael Moore, marine biologist from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, explains a turnaround story for the endangered North Atlantic right whale This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Been lobstering for 25 years and myself and everyone i know have never had any interactions with Right Whales. I think it's safe to say our lobster is sustainable and not harming Whales.
Hey Michael,
That was a very interesting talk. In Stockholm we have an increasing population of seals. They are said to destroy a lot of fishing gear, mostly nets, but no one ever mentions that entangled seals would get hurt. I think your talk can serve as an eye opener in a rather broad sense. Keep on with your important and passionate work! All the best, Olle.
Nice job Michael! Cheers.
Ah I don’t think so they don’t work every where very expensive don’t think you’re sneaking that one. Probably be federal court on that one
Michael, just found this -- nice talk, thanks so much for sharing your research and knowledge!
+Tedx lover hit👍here✋💟🙆
even worse .... a lot of lobsters are getting flown by air to China (add in the loss of herring impacts, for other whales , seals and fish)
