Some people don't seem to have a high regard for Peavey equipment, but I have had good luck with it - and as you said, at least this early stuff is built like a tank. Amazing what people will throw away without trying to fix. Many thanks - I have a similar model and I was tring to figure out how to remove the damn head section. Never occurred to me to go at those 4 screws through the plates on top! saved me a loit of head scratching. TOne sounded pretty good, too
The big stuff sounds pretty damn good...especially with a 15" speaker. Its the guitar kid with 15 watt Peavy practice amp I couldn't stand...and many of those! Sounds like shit... To me Peavy always been outstanding PA and sound reinforcement...but not really the source tone I wanted. And to be perfectly honest, I've strayed from my love of fender into VOX because WTF ...I got a 3 WATT battery Vox for the RV that sounds incredible.
the old peavey practice amps do sound really good, i have a decade (10 watts), the smallest amp they made in the early 80's that sounds really good. the backstage 30 (18 watts) was also a really good practice amp.
+TheDagraner4576 thanks! I might try to do more music soon...but it's scary with the auto copyright attack bots of youtube...any song you write might just have enough notes in common with something else to cause problems for your channel.
Love the outdoors electrician! Thanks for saving a Peavey! They will be here long after the big one hits. I can tell you from that sticker there's likely a replacement 15" Eminence that's worth $100. He doesn't know that an amp strap holds the head in? Must not have worked on any combos before. The grommet broke, so the power cable yanked out one of its leads. Easy fix. He's just guessing how to solder power cables, lol. Bit better to download a schematic first big guy. Sounds really great though. Can't beat old Peavey. Buy that grommet and it's like new.
Bought one just like that new in 1982. sold it to our church about 10 yrs. ago and downsized to a more compact Roland. I had it serviced one time in the 90s. Still works great.
+Accuracy Marked how does someone toss a massive peavey amp? that's just plain silly....like I'm complaining about the free money it will put in my pocket :-)
the tnt 100 is actually a 45 watt amp, not 100 watts. i have no idea why peavey called it a 100, i have a tko 80 that is only 65 watts, no idea why they called it an 80...
ha luv it! I've one of these lurking around for decades. I just took it apart...amp makes mostly just giant hum and some weird noises when you turn the knobs. Maybe the amp chips are bad i dunno. I think I at least will just make a jack for the cab it and plug a tube amp into it, lol. If I get the amp working of would make a plug for it could plug into the cab. But getting a working amp connected to the cab seems for immediate fun.
Who ever owned it, didn't know shit about repairs. So you scored, knowing only slightly more!! Good job !!! Let us know when you sell it, because I know you will !!!
+DiggityDave83 this thing is seriously heavy too...I was surprised how sparse the amp board itself was...I was expecting maybe one of the those killer 20 pound transformers or something.
peavey built the cabinets to be almost unbreakable in the old days. they knew that gigging musicians on a tight budget couldn't afford flight cases for their gear so they built the cabinets to hold up under travel unprotected. their only screwup was switching to plastic pot shafts which break off easily, so you see lots of peavey gear with missing knobs and broken shafts.
+audioblinker I really liked how open and easy this was was to work on...but I still haven't found a buyer! It may just wind up in storage along with my Fender FM 212.
wtg on the amp i just found a peavy scorpion out on curb worked ok had lil crackling sound found out wasent original speaker an the speakers bad after spended 180bucks on the actualy kind of speaker it was suppose to have lol it works great an sounds amazing!!! you should be able to sell that easy man!!!good luck ttyl
+Ruckus Bird curb-side shopping is pretty discouraged around here...not much to film cause it's a grab and run sort of thing...and just TRY to run with this heavy assed Peavey! ahahahahahahahahahahaahah
Sounds like you just don't have your finger on the pulse. Punk rock, heavy metal, doom, thrash, death metal, hardcore, all guitar driven genres that are in a golden age right now. Electronic music is wildly popular now too, but you see more and more guitars and basses in those heavier electronic genres now. Your "younger generations don't know music" is a real dumb boomer kind of take, gotta say.

most ppl that rip on peavey gear buy underpowered combo amps and try to compete with marshall half stacks in the jam room.
I got a good smile from hearing that thing play, good job bruddah.

FANTASTIC repair job!
Nice going Jim, great to hear a tune come off it
Paul
+ArcturanMegadonkey hopefully I can get it sold! one just doesn't leave a peavey amp on the trash pile...

Love it and great repair job Jim! xx
+Rosie O'Kelly just glad it was an easy fix! otherwise this video would have ended with a pile of peavey parts on the lawn!
i just bought one of these and a peavey tnt 115 for $25 at a thrift store. cant wait to open it up. Great video!
I'm a bass player myself...nice work on that amp. Peaveys are really solid.
Hola Kzoo Detector realmente me recomiendas comprarme un PEAVEY TNT 100, me lo estan dejando en 220 dolares, esta bien el precio???
Bought one just like that new in 1982. sold it to our church about 10 yrs. ago and downsized to a more compact Roland. I had it serviced one time in the 90s. Still works great.
That amp sounds awesome with the Fender guitar.
Kick ass dude! Always ....ALWAYS up for FREE MONEY!!!!
Very good Jim...it'll run and amp another day!
+Accuracy Marked how does someone toss a massive peavey amp? that's just plain silly....like I'm complaining about the free money it will put in my pocket :-)
Sweet save Jim.
+W Wally :-) trust me...Ive considered making room in storage for it...but FUCK....I'm trying to get rid of what's in storage now!
Awesome job. Like I always say, if it's free it's for me. Especially when it helps pay the rent!
It is true - Even a blind squirrel finds a nut occasionally!
+tixe ylno shit, I'm still looking for my nuts...
Thank the Lord's you picked it up!!
this gent had me at "at least the logo is worth something"

hum is usually old electrolytic capacitors that need to be replaced, crackling when you turn the knobs means the pots need to be cleaned.
nice!!!
+NH beach metaldetecting nothing beats FREE :-)
I say have a beer and enjoy a few riffs
+syd ascott amp is up for sale on craigslist now, if no buyers by the weekend I may shoot another vid with it and relist next week.

Who ever owned it, didn't know shit about repairs. So you scored, knowing only slightly more!! Good job !!! Let us know when you sell it, because I know you will !!!
+mikep95133 it don't take a rocket scientist to see a power wire dangling free :-)
Wow look at that Transformer !!!
I just had to fix a 115 bw
Nice work
+MrPapergti thanks! funny how something can be so simple and still find it's way to the trash pile.
Nice score.
Pretty cool~ I used to have a Peavey Deuce guitar amp~ I sold it when I had kids~ Thing weighed close to 200 lbs. probably~ Haha~
+DiggityDave83 this thing is seriously heavy too...I was surprised how sparse the amp board itself was...I was expecting maybe one of the those killer 20 pound transformers or something.

I just found this same amp on a trash pile as well just one hour ago. Poor TNT100's.
+audioblinker I really liked how open and easy this was was to work on...but I still haven't found a buyer! It may just wind up in storage along with my Fender FM 212.
Good job bro

nice score
The Peavey Black Widow speakers are worth some money, but not all Peaveys have them.
most older peavey amps have eminence speakers.
Damn if nothing else that looks cool just sitting in a corner.
+mcgaugh57 yeah, the 15" speaker alone is impressive
Nice! prolly alot of stuff gets tossed that's an easy fix. take us trash picking.
+Ruckus Bird curb-side shopping is pretty discouraged around here...not much to film cause it's a grab and run sort of thing...and just TRY to run with this heavy assed Peavey! ahahahahahahahahahahaahah
+roadkillscjim lol
Nice !

+MichaelSwan66 :-)
