  • John Denver live in Australia, 1977. "Love Is Everywhere"
About writing "Love Is Everywhere" from John: "'Love is Everywhere' was written with Joe Henry, John Sommers, and Steve Weisberg. John Sommers had written a lovely chorus and I wanted to write words to it. I wanted to write a modern bluegrass song. John and I worked out the chorus, then John, Steve, and I spent some time trying to get verses for the song, but we just couldn't get it the way I wanted it. So, I brought Joe Henry in and he worked some with John and Steve, but again, nothing much came of it. One night, after all the discussion, the talking, the approach and the critique, we were in the studio recording the 'Windsong' album; Joe went home and virtually wrote the verses to the song. It was on my insistence that we shared credit all around because I think the song came out of all those discussions and interchange of ideas."

John never subscribed to any religion, but he believed in a higher power and was much closer to that higher power than most who pretend to be. This fact is amply demonstrated in his hundreds of song lyrics and the joy of his songs. He believed that there was no way our complex yet beautiful world came together by random chance. So happy to have seen you live THREE times Mr Denver. Thankyou

For those of you who know me ... I liked John Denver's music very much... I enjoyed playing my tambourine to songs like this one he is singing now... A tambourine can be a great musical instrument! When I left a Folk Group at our church because of a brain tumor, no one replaced me playing the tambourine. I did continue playing with my young primary students at Holy Mass. Could not give up praising Our Jesus with 230 students "raising the Praise..."

I love this song - the tune, the harmonies, the beat, the happiness. However, Leslie Moorhead, you are absolutely correct in your comment. And Doug Russell, really? A foul-mouthed response? As Christians, we know the world sees us as "fools" for God - God told us we would be seen that way in His Word. And that's more than ok.

Cheryl Van Til - Thank you. It's a fun upbeat song. I love it too. Let's not be nit-picky about the lyrics. He didn't intend for this one to be a serious song. It's an upbeat, joy in life celebration.

In this song, the lyrics declared, "life is perfect, let us play the game, because love is everywhere." Well, I want to disagree with these lyrics. Glen Campbell, another singer/songwriter of some past renown, penned a song that was called, "Love is not a game." I agree here with Glen's rendition and not with Denver's ideology. Love is not a game. Life is not perfect, for we have all sinned in the eyes of God. None of us is perfect, and our lives are not even close to God's perfect nature.

Leslie Moorhead, you are a fucked up religious freak.Thi is a song about positive thinking, not the opposite, you need to dance in the love and the light. Get a life my friend.

Doug Russell I think the power of positive thinking is a farce to believe in. Norman Vincent Peale made a lot of money by selling this stuff. It is not according to God's holiness. We should not trust in anything that is outside of God's will.

You are wrong about God. That is not how God is. You are blinded by your misguided ways.
