I've seen in person Osprey's flying, they are incredibly noisy, no sneaking up on the enemy in these things!!! They've got to be incredibly expensive to operate, but hey, that's what the taxpayer is for....

They aren't designed to sneak up on the enemy. Ever heard a Chinook or a Blackhawk? They can't sneak up on an enemy either. The Osprey's advantages are in speed, range and capacity. As far as operating costs, you have to do a cost analysis for the Osprey's superior combat capabilities and determine if it's worth the increased cost. The US Defense Dept thinks so, even if you don't, even if you have declared yourself an expert.

I have 1700 hours on UH1H, yes i've heard helicopters aplenty. IMO Chinooks much quieter compared to an Osprey. I flew long before the Blackhawk.

The French designed, built, and gave us the Statue of Liberty in New York harbor. In 1781, after six years of fighting (and often losing) battles with the royal British army, the Comte of Rochambeau's 5,500 soldiers combined with George Washington's army in battle at Yorktown. The French navy blockaded the British ships from resupplying or evacuating. Then British General Cornwallis surrendered, the war of Independence was over, and the United States of America was a country. The French have earned our everlasting appreciation and respect. There would be no USA without the French Army and Navy.
Go to Normandy to view the cemetary where the American soldiers are buried. Walk Omaha beach. Listen to the French tourguides in the museums. The French remember us, too, and the friendship is old and strong.
