In our culture and language, which is "IsiXhosa" by the Nguni people of Southern Africa originating from the central Africa. Tekere means a playful word used when playing with toddler boys. It's such a fun and playful word. As such, when listening to this song, I always think of my toddler son. Tekere😁😁😁
I guess the meaning are kind of close, Tekere in malinke mean "Applaud" and to get a toddler to walk to you, you got to clap for him actually make his/her to you

Just discovered African music yesterday on RUclips. This man on guitar playing with ~Toure, and a percussionist. Very interesting. I can see from the comments that Africans are justly proud of this music. (Likewise for me, Irish music and dance, eg Sharon Shannon.) Music is a gift. Saol fada dó.
