It's a Flap T. R at the end of a word or syllable is vocalic so the T is between 2 vowel sounds in this word. IT sound like "star-did." Hope this helps! :)
Excellent lesson, super useful, I couldn’t say the number 3 in English, all the time people told me: hey Carlos, tree or three? .. the best lesson ever !!
Hi Keenyn, thank you so much for this series of videos. They have been very helpful to me. One big thing I still struggle with is linking several syllables which all include the R sound, such as 'there are harder words' or the word 'furthermore'. Do you have any suggestions for me?
Awesome Lohidas Paila! So glad you found the lesson helpful! 🤗🤗🤗 I highly encourage you to use gestures as you practice- it truly helps to pair those larger motor movements with the smaller movements happening with the tongue, lips and jaw!
Good Morning Queen Keenyn ma'am, You are the most amazing English teacher ever, great American lady, and very kind 💓. Queen Keenyn ma'am I'm big fan of your's,and you got the Queen reward this time again great lesson ma'am,I love you forever Jesus Christ,God bless.
Is it insurmountable problem without going to the orthodontist or can i do sth to speak normally? Maybe some special exercises or just practise way more?
It is not insurmountable (love that word!). It is about directing your airflow which will take considerable, focused practice. You can definitely do it!
Perhaps, some day I will know how to direct my airflow (sounds puzzling). But now I won't try harder (this really pisses me off), better focus on other apects of learning english. Thank you very much though. Now I know that i can do it and i'm not sentenced to hiss while saying TH :')
I'm brazilian, and for us, the pronunce is very difficult. You are incredible!!!! Finally I understood how to pronunce th and r. I love you!!! Thank you.
Still have a problem when I'm trying to say "Over there" quickly. It's tough to move your tounge from R posisition to the TH posisition. I put a lot of struggle here 😅
good day, sincerely i didn't understand because for spanish is difficult to follow the explanation on how to make a sound because (haha) the words you all are using for explaining we cannot understand for example: INSIDE OF THE BACK TOP MOLARS, YOUR LITTLE BOWL SHAPE BACK, GLIDING BACK ALONG THE INSIDE OF THE TOP MOLARS
Keenyn, your lesson is so helpful for me correct my pronunciation, should you have time, can you open a lesson about how to pronunce Ex,Ec, Er, or relate to the E. It is hard for me to distinguish some pronunciation has E. Thank you very much
Thank you for the suggestion sophie zou! 😊 You will find mr American R series helpful for ER, and I think there might need to be a whole lesson for X as that is a tricky one! To clarify, do you struggle with pronouncing the E and it's variations in all different contexts/words?
good evening my friend my name is ademir if you can make a video about animal exemplo in brazil portugues nos falamos o cachorro late in american like is the dog .......... l whant say like the song the dog or another exemplo like the song the cat or like is song the horse or song the cow exemplo a vaca muji o cavalo relincha o gato mia it in brazil portuquese another word o cavalo corre bastante e pulou sobre um obstaculo or the horse run quite jump about ..... can be interesant about animal thank teache l see soon very great you lesson lm learn much
Ademir Soares ! Nice try, but the way you joined and wrote, it Will not be easy for someone who not speak portuguese understand you. Boa tentativa mano, mas do jeito que você juntou e escreveu dificilmente alguém que não fale português poderá entender.
Thank you Ademir Soares! 😊 But Caramelo Taxo is right- I do not understand your question- I do not speak Portuguese and with the mix of language I cannot use Google translate 😕
- It was really helpful ..🤗 - Thank you so so much .😚 - It's me who asked you to make this video and to spell these words 😉😉 and it was great .😎 - also , I have other suggestions to your channel but, let's talk about it later 😊
Awesome علي الحاتمي! So glad you found the lesson helpful! 🤗🤗🤗 You are most welcome- and keep suggestions and requests coming- as you can see I keep track of these! 😄
Thank you Carla Patricia Castillo Calviño for your feedback and suggestion! 😊 The only difference between these words are the SH and CH sounds in the middle. WASHT and WACHT of /wɑʃt/ and /waʧt/- I hope this helps a little bit!
Thank you very much for your answer. Actually, one thing is to know that difference and another thing is to be able to pronounce those words without trouble. Many people know this difference, yet are unable to make it when pronouncing these two words.
I understand completely. These 2 sounds can both be challenging and they are very similar! There will be more lessons on specific consonant sounds coming in the future that I hope will be helpful for you!
Thanks. I don't think there is much trouble in the sh or ch sounds at the begining of words , but I've noticed there is trouble when they are in words like watched and washed because they are both followed by a t sound and these two sounds are somewhat similar.
as always brilliant in your videos, but in regards to something like *is that* *against the* *rather than* i think it’s distracting a little bit and what is the meaning of *tuning in*
Thank you اسلام! 😊 I am not sure I understand the first part of your question but "tune in" is a phrasal verb meaning the same thing as "watch" or "listen". You can "tune in" to a TV show/podcast/radio program etc. What I am saying is "Thanks for watching!" 😊😊
Hey honorable speech coach Rhodes thank you for this video. I always had a problem with pronouncing the th sound and for me that letter combination becomes an F or a D so the becomes Da and three becomes free. I am originally a Romanian native so I like all Romanian natives i have a natural rolling R but after many years of practice I finally lost my rolling R and today when I speak Romanian people ask me if I am from the US because of the foreign way i pronounce the words with R. Ps It is an honor to meet you virtually, handshake 🤝 my name in real life is Stefan and I am 35 years old and I was born on august 26 1987.
First of all bundle of thanks, you asked about sure as death, it,s mean I'm satisfied your method of teaching, sure as death oR sure as sun rise, "the sun rises in the East" are you sure ? you're so thoughtful .I,m sure as sun rise.
Wow, you've just hit the nail on the head with this lesson! Thank you really very much! :D That's exactly what I'm struggling with in real speech: they are not that hard to pronounce one by one, practicing - but in random sentence my tongue often simply can't move quick enough. I guess it takes hundreds and thousands of repetitions to make this skill automatic... but who said it would be easy)))
Awesome Sergey Arion! So glad you found the lesson helpful! 🤗🤗🤗 Yes, it definitely takes MANY repetitions before your brain and mouth muscles begin to move more naturally! It does take work, never believe anyone who says it doesn't, but it is possible! 😊
since i started to work my pronuntiation, i am undertanding english a lot
Can you please teach us how to pronunce " started" ? Is " starded " or "starred " ? D or vanishing T ?
Thank you.
Awesome Carlos Eduardo Dávila Seijas! So glad you found the lesson helpful! 🤗🤗🤗
Excellent video as usual
Thank you Ahmed Yossef! 😊
I love the way you teach.
Arigato! (Thanks)
Hi Keenyn, thank you so much for this series of videos. They have been very helpful to me. One big thing I still struggle with is linking several syllables which all include the R sound, such as 'there are harder words' or the word 'furthermore'. Do you have any suggestions for me?
amazing video.
thank you for your tutoring video! it helps a lot. I will gladly apply this lesson in my everyday life.
You are most welcome Anastasiia Moralez! 😊
Great explanation Keenyn.
Your teaching with hand gestures gets recorded in the memory. Its easy to recall when practicing the words. Great job Ma'am
Awesome Lohidas Paila! So glad you found the lesson helpful! 🤗🤗🤗 I highly encourage you to use gestures as you practice- it truly helps to pair those larger motor movements with the smaller movements happening with the tongue, lips and jaw!
Thanks a lot this lesson is really very helpful. Your style is awesome
Thank you Awesome keep moving dash! So glad you found the lesson helpful! 🤗🤗🤗
I can't stop laughing when I hear myself trying to do this, it's so difficult!
THOR
TH + O as in GOLD rolling into the ER sound- yes!

Thank you Kalle gyan! 😊 Your continued kind feedback is much appreciated! 💕

Thank you Munish Kumar! 😊
Thank you so much...pretty teacher
This gap between my teeth drives me mad. Every time i try to say the TH with R sound some freaking S appears between them.
Agh I understand... I had one of those if my formative years...
Is it insurmountable problem without going to the orthodontist or can i do sth to speak normally? Maybe some special exercises or just practise way more?
It is not insurmountable (love that word!). It is about directing your airflow which will take considerable, focused practice. You can definitely do it!

So sad dear mam i have been waiting for your special video of IPA
So many lessons to make! This one will be coming, it may be a summer publish. Thank you for your reminder and suggestions! 😊
Ever since 1990, I've been trying to figure out how Americans say the word together. Still can't figure out. It sounds more like gether than together
I'm brazilian, and for us, the pronunce is very difficult. You are incredible!!!! Finally I understood how to pronunce th and r. I love you!!! Thank you.
since i learned how to roll thr R for fun i keep accidentally rolling it when it comes after th lol
Could you please teach us how to pronounce “tr” like “true, truth, tree, track, ...” Especially “true”. Thank you so much in advance!!!
Thanks for the lesson. At the 6.30 min you said for the "Voiceless th sound for them". It wouldn't be for the VOICE th in them?
I was waiting for this video for a long time. Very helpful.
Awesome Ayush creation 777! So glad you found the lesson helpful! 🤗🤗🤗
Thanks for the lesson. One question: you said 'for the VOICELESS th in them". It wouldn't be for the VOICE th?
Ilike your videos... is there a whatsapp for couching in pronunciation Keenyn?
Still have a problem when I'm trying to say "Over there" quickly. It's tough to move your tounge from R posisition to the TH posisition. I put a lot of struggle here 😅
I love You all...yur smile is Unique and perfecto!!!
good day, sincerely i didn't understand because for spanish is difficult to follow the explanation on how to make a sound because (haha) the words you all are using for explaining we cannot understand for example: INSIDE OF THE BACK TOP MOLARS, YOUR LITTLE BOWL SHAPE BACK, GLIDING BACK ALONG THE INSIDE OF THE TOP MOLARS
Your molars are your back teeth- the big ones you use to chew. The sides of the tongue connect with the inside of these back, top teeth 😊
The "r" we typically hear in American English is a retroflex vowel, right?
Thank u teacher for uploading two lessons this week😄😄
