    Can you please teach us how to pronunce " started" ? Is " starded " or "starred " ? D or vanishing T ?
    Thank you.

    • @ClearEnglishCorner
      @ClearEnglishCorner  5 лет назад +15

      It's a Flap T. R at the end of a word or syllable is vocalic so the T is between 2 vowel sounds in this word. IT sound like "star-did." Hope this helps! :)

    Hi Keenyn, thank you so much for this series of videos. They have been very helpful to me. One big thing I still struggle with is linking several syllables which all include the R sound, such as 'there are harder words' or the word 'furthermore'. Do you have any suggestions for me?

    • @ClearEnglishCorner
      @ClearEnglishCorner  6 лет назад +2

      It is not insurmountable (love that word!). It is about directing your airflow which will take considerable, focused practice. You can definitely do it!

    • @angelrodado09
      @angelrodado09 6 лет назад +2

      Perhaps, some day I will know how to direct my airflow (sounds puzzling). But now I won't try harder (this really pisses me off), better focus on other apects of learning english. Thank you very much though. Now I know that i can do it and i'm not sentenced to hiss while saying TH :')

    • @ClearEnglishCorner

      Your molars are your back teeth- the big ones you use to chew. The sides of the tongue connect with the inside of these back, top teeth 😊

    • @ClearEnglishCorner
      @ClearEnglishCorner  6 лет назад

      Thank you Carla Patricia Castillo Calviño for your feedback and suggestion! 😊 The only difference between these words are the SH and CH sounds in the middle. WASHT and WACHT of /wɑʃt/ and /waʧt/- I hope this helps a little bit!

    • @carlapatriciacastillocalvi7125
      @carlapatriciacastillocalvi7125 6 лет назад +1

      Thank you very much for your answer. Actually, one thing is to know that difference and another thing is to be able to pronounce those words without trouble. Many people know this difference, yet are unable to make it when pronouncing these two words.

    • @ClearEnglishCorner
      @ClearEnglishCorner  6 лет назад +1

      I understand completely. These 2 sounds can both be challenging and they are very similar! There will be more lessons on specific consonant sounds coming in the future that I hope will be helpful for you!

    • @carlapatriciacastillocalvi7125
      @carlapatriciacastillocalvi7125 6 лет назад +1

      Thanks. I don't think there is much trouble in the sh or ch sounds at the begining of words , but I've noticed there is trouble when they are in words like watched and washed because they are both followed by a t sound and these two sounds are somewhat similar.

    • @ClearEnglishCorner
      @ClearEnglishCorner  6 лет назад +1

      Yes- that is definitely a challenging combination. Thank you for the additional feedback- I can make sure to address this in a futures lesson!

    • @ClearEnglishCorner
      @ClearEnglishCorner  6 лет назад

      Thank you اسلام! 😊 I am not sure I understand the first part of your question but "tune in" is a phrasal verb meaning the same thing as "watch" or "listen". You can "tune in" to a TV show/podcast/radio program etc. What I am saying is "Thanks for watching!" 😊😊

    Hey honorable speech coach Rhodes thank you for this video. I always had a problem with pronouncing the th sound and for me that letter combination becomes an F or a D so the becomes Da and three becomes free. I am originally a Romanian native so I like all Romanian natives i have a natural rolling R but after many years of practice I finally lost my rolling R and today when I speak Romanian people ask me if I am from the US because of the foreign way i pronounce the words with R. Ps It is an honor to meet you virtually, handshake 🤝 my name in real life is Stefan and I am 35 years old and I was born on august 26 1987.

    That's exactly what I'm struggling with in real speech: they are not that hard to pronounce one by one, practicing - but in random sentence my tongue often simply can't move quick enough. I guess it takes hundreds and thousands of repetitions to make this skill automatic... but who said it would be easy)))
