      Clear English Corner with Keenyn Rhodes i liked it ... ed sounds T then ai laik- dit? Hopefully I can link " take it out on me" easily. However it's hard to link them in past such as " I liked it, I started it etc. This topic is very useful. Both things / death threats / are hard to me I'm looking forward to more videos like this one.

      You've got it RiordCs Rio! 😊 I am so glad you enjoyed the lesson and found the tips helpful! Yes, the past tense endings and TH can be tricky- remember to slow down- work through the phrase in slow motion- to really be mindful of how your articulators are moving. You got this! 😉

    Well, I believe you have a big vocation to explain issues and you show admirable tranquilite. Of course I'm sure you don't have time to see all coments about your class but I feel your speachs rising between lots of brazilian people.
    Your accent is perfectly for students around world, so as far as I concern you 're going to be TOP FIVE RUclips English Teachers. Congratulations.

      It's a myth that native English speakers speak like this presented in the video. It's saying that some colloquial sociolect is the only way to sound natural. Linking is lax speaking, like sociolects in German eleminating the natural glottis stops interword.

    Hi, Ms.Keenan👋
    Your videos really help me to get to know the differences in sound between English and Japanese, which is my first language.
    In Japanese, we mainly make sounds with the tongue while, in English, they do with breath and lips.
    Without knowing this difference, it should be more difficult to speak English.
    Your tips are my lifesaver.

    hi guys this is the clear English corner and I'm Keenan your personal American English pronunciation coach in this lesson were talking about linking linking refers to how sounds flow together between words and spoken English spoken English is very different from written English in written English there's a very clear distinct white spaces between each word but if you talk like there are white spaces between each word you sound choppy and you don't have that natural fluency and flow that you're striving for ... I understand you clearly

    Thank you for the Great Channel.. I've been tought that when a word ends with the same first letter of the next word, I drop the second similar letter from the second word. Which is true please? Thank you again.

      You wouldn'y want to drop the sound, especially if it's a stop consonants. The phrase "bad day" would not become "ba day" or "bad ay." This is why I talk about holding the stop then releasing it into the next word. It's not disappearing, it's just joining the two words. With a continuous sound you just want to keep the airflow going. "Was so" becomes "wassso" not "wa so." I hope this makes some sense! 😊

    I have a question , in the example with that , the th in with is voiced , right ?

    • @ClearEnglishCorner
      @ClearEnglishCorner  5 лет назад +1

      The voicing actually falls away with this combination ad the final TH in with is voiceless in conversational American English pronunciation...

    Keenyn, your videos are so clear and easy to understand, they are very helpful, although if I was taking an english class in person with you, It would be hard to concentrate because you are sooooo cute!

    Your lessons would be more helpful if you added some kind of short from movies, ads, news, or random videos people upload to the interned speaking at a normal speed so we can perceive what you are teaching. For example you take a clip and after they finish speaking, you proceed to explain the linking words they used. Your lessons are great though.

    I'm an American and only speak English but I've honestly never noticed some of these speech patterns because they just seem so natural.
