What does 17 years of throat singing like? (17 жилийн өмнөөс Монгол хөөмий сурч эхэлсэн!)

  • I made a fun, quick impression of what 17 years of throat singing and learning Mongolian instruments sounds like.
    So I discovered Tuvan/Altai/Mongolia (etc) throat singing somewhere in 2005-2006. Was fascinated right away. And I started to try and learn basically right away (keep in mind, the resources back then were very little! RUclips only just started!).
    So I was about 17 years old back then, 17 years ago now. So many good memories in those years discovering this vocal art and unique culture surrounding it.

    Incredible! I notice in the early month singing you seem to be overemphasizing external mouth movements, and it feels like I do that now a bit in my early learning. Eventually not as much is needed?

    • @rowanhartsuiker
      @rowanhartsuiker  Год назад +4

      Yes, totally! This is one of those common mistakes I see when I teach others. Basically there should be very little mouth/lips movement, most of the actual sound is created inside the mouth, using tongue movement.

    I'm stuck at around 1 year for a few months now. What are the next steps?
    Also if you live in the Netherlands, do you give private lessons if someone requests it?
