William Arkin: CIA Is Playing "Outsize Role" in Ukraine Despite Biden Pledge Not to Send U.S. Forces

- A new investigation reveals the extent of the CIA's involvement in the war in Ukraine, where the agency operates clandestinely in what, under a formal declaration of war, would be the domain of the military. We're joined on the show by the author of the investigation, William Arkin, a national security reporter and senior editor at Newsweek, who says that the CIA has "got its hand in a little bit of everything" in Ukraine. According to various sources, the CIA is shuttling weapons into Ukraine using a "gray fleet" of commercial aircraft that crisscrosses Central and Eastern Europe, sending personnel into Ukraine on secret missions and assisting Ukrainians with new weapons and systems, all while using Poland as its clandestine hub to coordinate its operations inside the country. At the same time, the U.S.'s nonaligned status appears to place a limit on its intelligence, keeping it in the dark on both Zelensky and Putin's next moves.

Exactly. Limited hangout.
It is garbage that the CIA doesn’t know what Ukraine is up to. This is only a narrative now because the CIA doesn’t want to have any culpability in the truly astounding array of war crimes and atrocities that Zelenskyy‘s “government” has promulgated. The crimes are coming out, and once they start to flow freely it will be hard for the CIA to deny any involvement.

A security state cannot also be a democracy. The two things are mutually exclusive. A corporate fascist state, on the other hand, is highly compatible with the security state with each part deriving mutual benefit from the other and gaining power via the association.

That the CIA is deeply involved in the Ukraine war is a given. However, that it operates black sites for torture (in Poland) is shocking. It is a sad commentary of Americans' lack of conscience and sense of responsibility that the perpetrators have not been not called to account for such inhumanity and outrages.
US never had to get involved in WW1, which led to WW2, the US was preoccupied with ending the monarchies so that a much more malleable system could be put in place.

Ukraine was and independent and neutral state for 23 years and nobody challenged this status. Then their president was dismissed by force with NATO support and a new government decided to join NATO and kick off Russian naval base in Crimea ( the only base they have in Black sea). That's when the war had started. And this is the reason for it.

Its obvious US overthrew Ukraine in 2014.. thats their MO... Russia outplayed them in Crimea and now US wants revenge.. oh and cause of Syria too.. Russia saved Syria from becoming another Libya.
.
Democracy in Ukraine? When do you close 17 parties that disagree with this clown in power? There is no democracy in Ukraine. When they grab people on the street, then they process them psychologically, after 1 month they say to go to a village that is occupied by Ukrainians. And in fact, the village is captured by the Russians, Ukrainians go and fall into a trap and die. That's how the Ukrainian commanders themselves send Ukrainians to slaughter.
How's your war going Ivan? If Imperialism didn't last for the British what makes you think it would last for the Russians? Also various Ukrainian politicians have wanted to get closer to non-Russian controlled parts of Europe for years. And Russia has been involved with trying influence and then quash Ukrainian decision making for years. Plus if Russia wants a navy base on the Black Sea how about it put 1 on Russian coastline rather than not Russian?
Sounds like a load of B/S most of that. Trying to exonerate America’s roll in all this mess.
Blah blah blah.....lazy BS comments......yawning .....
NATO's expansion towards Russia's borders doesn't justify Russia's actions? What would USA do if Russia started to set up military bases near USA's borders? Or if Russia, China, and Iran formed a military alliance and set up their military bases near USA's borders while claiming that the alliance is of defensive nature?
Bingo!
The Soviets already formed a military alliance with Cuba during the Cold War and the US did not send its military to invade (that is part of why some supporters of Cuban expats feel Bay of Pigs was a failure). Anyway the talk of NATO expanding routinely forgets to mention that nations asked to join NATO. And this was likely out of fear of Russian bullying in the area-fears that seem to be well founded.
@@pplr1 It's the U.S. Aegis nuke-delivering missiles in Poland and other NATO countries surrounding Russia that imperils Russia's security. It was NOT the military alliance itself that triggered the Cuban Missile Crisis. It was the U.S. placement of nukes on Russia's border in Turkey that prompted Russia to place nukes in Cuba that created the crisis. When JFK promised Russia to remove the nukes from Turkey, Russia removed the nukes from Cuba, ending the crisis. Zelensky SAID he was going to get nukes. That was one of the events that prompted Russia's intervention. The other was the clear peril to Ukrainian ethnic Russians in the Donbass from the U.S./NATO/Kiev military.
@@maryhuckaby2239 Did a quick look up on "Aegis" missiles including setup for Poland. I came across discussions of missile "interceptors" and missile "defense". Thus making it harder for missiles to be shot at Polish cities. Putin has a great deal of explaining to do if his argument is that Russian security needs the ability to shoot missiles into Polish cities.
"Zelensky SAID he was going to get nukes. That was one of the events that prompted Russia's intervention." Considering that Ukraine had nukes years ago and gave them up in exchange for security guarantees from the USA and Russia this claims smacks of bs on its face. Now Ukrainians have said that Russian violations of that agreement such as Putin's earlier invasion of Crimea in 2014 put the requirement that Ukraine should continue to honor the agreement in doubt-but Ukraine has not started to build a nuclear weapons program. Like many things Putin claimed near the start of this war, that is another lie.
"The other was the clear peril to Ukrainian ethnic Russians in the Donbass from the U.S./NATO/Kiev military." Speaking of Putin's lies this sounds like another one. Putin has been falsely claiming genocide was happening against Russian speakers for some time now. Not only has Russia provided little to no evidence for these claims (because they are lies) but Ukrainian President Zelenski is a Russian speaker as his 1st language.
Technically, he said "U.S. forces won't be sent to battle Russian troops".
That statement is crafted to leave the key points up to interpretation and allow the administration to define "U.S. forces", "battle" and "Russian troops" as they need to day by day.
The U.S. has been at de facto war with Russia for a few years.

American mercenaries are behind the attack on Donetsk.
American mercenaries who arrived in Donbas a few months ago are behind the attack on Donetsk the previous afternoon. This is evidenced by the fact that NATO-standard weapons were used during the shelling, moreover, at least two groups of American mercenaries were previously seen in the suburbs of Donetsk, which are under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
It is known that American mercenaries are taking part in the fighting in the Donbass. At the same time, given that the city was shelled the previous morning using NATO-standard weapons, it is more than likely that members of a private military company from the United States are also behind the attack.
According to official data, as a result of a two-hour shelling of Donetsk, there is significant destruction in the Kievsky district of the city. In particular, it is reported about the destruction of warehouses and garages. There is unofficial information about the victims, but this has not received any documentary evidence.
Experts note that if information about the attack by American mercenaries on Donetsk is confirmed, Russia may send military assistance to the self-proclaimed republics, since Kiev's current actions violate the terms of the Minsk agreements.

As it became known to the Aviapro news agency, the night before, fire was opened on a number of settlements in the DPR, where militia forces were moving, from various types of weapons, mainly from 120-mm mortars.
According to data obtained by the Aviapro news agency, during reconnaissance by an American military aircraft along the line of contact, close attention was paid to militia targets located near the line of contact. Later, the southern part of the DPR was subjected to heavy shelling and, as it turned out, additional DPR units could indeed be deployed in the village of Kominternovo, although this information did not receive any comments from representatives of the self-proclaimed republic. Experts note that the involvement of the American military aircraft in the attack is obvious, since the strikes were carried out only on certain areas of the line of contact and on settlements.

UKRAINIAN ARMY CONTINUES MASSIVE SHELLING OF DONETSK AND LUHANSK
~ The Ukrainian army continuously fires 120mm mortars at the settlements of Zaitseve and Dokuchaevsk in the Donetsk region.
Thousands of shells were fired during the day, mainly at civilian infrastructure and residential areas in the districts of Gorlovka and Lugansk, currently under massive artillery fire by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Dozens have been reported only in the last hour.
A few hours ago, the car of the head of the People’s Militia of the DPR Denis Sinyakov was blown up by Ukrainian saboteurs in the center of Donetsk
At midnight on February 19, a critical element of the Luhansk People’s Republic infrastructure - the node of the Druzhba (Дружба) gas pipeline - exploded. The strong blast shook the whole of Lugansk.
Another explosion in Lugansk thundered in the Kamennobrodsky district. A gas station was blown up there.
A couple of hours before, two transformer substations in the Donetsk Republic were damaged by shelling. The Ukrainian army is deliberately destroying the infrastructure of Donetsk and Lugansk, thereby implementing the idea of the President of Ukraine of Zelensky’s “indomitable” nationality, that all residents of these regions who disagree with Ukrainian Government in Kiev should flee to Russia.
The President of Ukraine, Zelensky: “I think that if you live today in the territory of Donbass, temporarily occupied, and you think that: “Our cause is right, we are Russians, we are going to Russia, it’s a big mistake to stay in Donbass…” For the future of their children and grandchildren… it is already necessary to go and look for a place in Russia. It is right. Because there will be no civilization on this territory without Ukraine. Ukraine will grow upwards, Donbass in the occupied form will not grow anywhere. There will be no happiness for these people.”
At the same time, when there are massive shelling and terrorist attacks in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, US President Biden during a press conference accused the DPR and the LPR of violating the ceasefire and said that there is no evidence that Ukraine is preparing an attack.
From June 2015-the inevitability of WWIII because Russia stopped US backed terrorists in Syria.
“As an aggressor nation, which believes self-righteously in its superiority and views its offensive actions as defensive, the United States is deeply unhappy about the fact that Russia is bombing CIA-trained terrorists. That it armed and trained terrorists to topple a sitting government is of course not examined as problematic or as worthy to reflect on.
How will the US respond to the loss of its hegemonic control over Syria?
Commentator magazine argues that the Pentagon is now preparing a response whose details of course remain secret. It proposes placing US air jets near by Russian jets with the hope of provoking the Russian jets to shoot them down in order to provoke an international incident and a third world war. It argues that today as in the course of the first world war, US and Russian interests are that divergent that a world war seems inevitable, while advocating for it even as it claims with supposed innocence that such a war may just be something that has to take place.
It is also possible that the US will seek to provide false intelligence on a given ISIS target at a particular area while the target happens to be a densely populated school or a hospital, in order to present Russia as a mass-killer of civilians (a position of moral superiority which it desperately seeks as they deflect attention from its own crimes).
Additional scenarios may be encouraging wahabi terrorism inside the Russian Federation, orchestrating terrorist attacks in Moscow, providing Syrian rebels with missiles to bring down military jets or giving a green light to Kiev to launch a full attack on Donbass.
The ideal incident would be one in which Russia is clearly presented as an aggressor in the US public opinion and as a situation in which an argument can be made that the US must attack Russia as a matter of self-defense.
Americans can be easily deceived into believing that Russia attacked US soldiers out of the blue and therefore Russia should take extra precautions to avoid into such traps.”

To say that the USA is has nothing to do with it is like saying that Charles Manson is innocent 😇😂😂😂😂
Zelensky is worth more than a half billion dollars. I'm curious where he got that money from. 😆
A golden acting career.
The war propagandists come out heavily in the comment section whenever there is talk of a peaceful resolution. Think people you are being manipulated, as always when it comes to wars . Most of these comments are made by war bots not even real people.
This news is excellent. Defeating the Ukrainian Nazis Russia will humiliate the American CIA gangsters. Something similar happened in Vietnam.
In the end, this journalist farts through his mouth. He says that Russian intelligence does not know anything about what is happening in Ukraine as if the Russians were not blowing up huge stores of ammunition and weapons sent to that country by Europeans and Americans.
😂😂😂
Sounds like you should live there
So the Russian narrative is Ukrainians are are nazis , ruled by nazis AND UKRAINIANS ARE ALL KEEPING IT SECRET, A BIG SECRET? Only Russia knows the big secret that Ukrainians are really nazis and KEEPING IT A SECRET. AAAHAHAHHAHAAHA And Ukrainians overwhelming elected a JEW as their president just to deceive the world that they are not really nazis! And JEW Zelenski is "in on it.' He's just PRETENDING that he's not really a nazi!!! AAAHAHAHAHAHA But Russia knows the truth, so it must rub out Ukraine and take their land!! Also, the Americans are supposed to have a bio weapons lab in Ukraine where they are breeding killer mosquitos to attack Russia! AAHAHAHAAHAHAH And little Ukraine was secretly planning to attack big Russia! .... and stupid people believe this s*****

I see Russian imperialism hasn't lost some of its cheerleaders. Funny how eager some are cheer for stopping Ukraine from having any more honest elections so a nation that does not have have honest elections (Russia) can try to rebuild its old empire.
What a surprise that democracy now is full off Tankie apologists.
As a European I blame US to have willingly provoked this war, an Russia would have lost a lot of credibility and also of souvereignity, when the would have let continue the 8 years of slaughtering the Russian ethie in (not only) Donbas - so their revanche was needed to stop US - just as US stopped missiles to be placed in Kuba.
Hope US dominance is broken asap and the world will be a better one - after 27 US wars since end of WW2!
America has a bad record they went into Iraq and took out there leader and did war crimes killed millions,
That why Russia needs a buffer zone between East and West
Can Russia trust America, just look at history we went into Vietnam war and lost lots of troops without any sense of purpose, we went into Korea and lost lots of troops without any sense of purpose, we went into Afghanistan and lost lots of troops without any sense of purpose, we went into Iraq and lost lots of troops without any sense of purpose, is it a good another reason for troops to give there life,
Seriously. Is this the best time for US to pressure Ukraine on the issue of corruption? Who came up with that idea?
Ukraine has been dealing with the issue of corruption that was inherited from Soviet times, even an idiot knows this!, This report is more or less calling the CIA stupid! He also says the US has no agreement with Ukraine...er it does, it's signed the Budapest memorandum!
perhaps this is the whole idea...
From an American point of view: Ukraine's victory is insignificant (it doesn't change anything in how the US country or people carry on), while the risks that are associated with Ukraine using Western support to beat the Russians are unacceptable.
That could explain why Western support falls short of just giving the Ukrainians our LATEST stuff and ENOUGH of it.
Then, this can easily explain Reznikov's resignation: Corruption was just an excuse! The real reason is the attacks by Ukraine on Russian soil.
USA wants their pound of flesh for these attacks, which benefit Ukraine and do not benefit the USA but RISK the USA very much!
And USA wants their pound of flesh without making it too public that "Ukraine just does what the USA says".
Let's see, now without Reznikov, if Ukraine continues to attack Russia - this will tell you if the above is correct or not!
@@todorkolev7565 and if the USA abandons Ukraine it will also be abandoning it's own credibility. Agreements it made with Ukraine for it to give up it's nuclear weapons are/were of utmost importance to the USA, throwing them under the bus now and the US standing in the world will be as good as Russia's or China's, untrustworthy!
It’s always the best time to investigate corruption, especially when it’s yours and my money. And not just Ukraine, let’s finally get our stolen money back from the pentagon.
This whole military conflict could have been avoided if there was a peace settlement between internal Russian separatist and the Ukraine government years ago.
In russia
There was a settlement - two of them, called the Minsk Accords - sighed by Ukraine but NEVER upheld.
@@annkristoff4303 Plus a near settlement in March 2022 negotiated in Turkey - a month after Russia's intervention; Russia pulled its troops back from Kiev to further the settlement - then Boris Johnson, taking orders from the Biden Neo-Cons, sabotaged it. Forbade it!

What, in hell, makes the described role "outsized"?! He basically says that they are doing what they are supposed to, but not enough?
а
Democracy in Ukraine? When do you close 17 parties that disagree with this clown in power? There is no democracy in Ukraine. When they grab people on the street, then they process them psychologically, after 1 month they say to go to a village that is occupied by Ukrainians. And in fact, the village is captured by the Russians, Ukrainians go and fall into a trap and die. That's how the Ukrainian commanders themselves send Ukrainians to slaughter.
He is branding US being in fact a Putin's ally as an "outsized" role. It isn't.
@@Fightesst The US has allowed the use of cluster munitions! What does that have to do with me? The Pentagon allowed it. Now Russia will kill its enemies with cluster munitions.

as a reminder, cia had recruited stepan bandera in september 1945, financially supported and employed until 1959. after his death, CIA created Bandera myth thanks to Radio Free Europe and Radio Svoboda.

Yup. They've been prepping for this proxy war since 1945 and were actually plotting against Russia during WW II itself, even as Russia was losing 27 million people fighting the N_is. The Kiev regime is desecrating the graves and memories of those brave Russians and has officially turned Bandera into a "national hero" (N_i collaborator Bandera was involved in the mass murder of 10,000 Jews and others). How can anybody wonder why the Russians would not put up with this horror arriving on their doorstep ONCE AGAIN?

I believe his story was true. The CIA supported General Duong Van Mình in a coup against President NGO Dinh Điểm of Việt Nam back in Nov. 1963. President Kennedy (JKFK) was supporting Diem. Therefore 20 days before JFK was assassinated, Diem was killed. Little did they know that General Minh was a sleeper cell of Vietcong (Vietnamese communist). The whole thing came to light after the fall of Saigon 1975. Minh’s brother (Duong Van Nhut)’s force came in Saigon and accepted the South Vietnamese government’s unconventional surrender. The complexity of politics and military has many layers and dimensions. Very difficult to understand and control of the third-world-like countries.
Note that this "new and improved" united VietNam is a US client state, eager to open formerly US stateside factories and pay their non-union sweat-shop employees pennies on the dollar... The American taxpayer lost trillions to the MIC, but Wall Street financialists and globalism triumphed. Ain't capitalism grand?
Be well.

When you look up the investigation discussed in the video about the role of the CIA in Ukraine on Newsweek website no results come up related to that topic. Did they take it down?

For whatever the resaons a country might have to send its military forces near the territory of another country, it may be considered as nothing other than a potential aggressor and enemy.
What about defending their territorial borders ?
what if a group of countries, in a military alliance, adds your neighbouring nations to it's group?
what if a foreign government is directly involved in organising a political change in the government of your neighbour. ?
One question for everyone is "why would Ukraine want to piss off Germany by blowing up the gas pipeline?" They knew that Germany had all these weapons which were needed.
