- On Guruji's 90th birthday, Odissi dance students of Padmashri Guru Mayadhar Raut, from all over the world come together to present his dance compositions under the guidance of Madhumita Raut. The video also consists of lovely messages from many of his disciples. Born on 6th July 1930 in Odisha, Guruji, the doyen of Odissi dance, has done yeoman service in reviving the Indian classical dance Odissi in 1950s with Shastra based knowledge. Today his legacy is being carried on by his students who are well known dancers and Gurus of Odissi. This short documentary has been prepared by Sonam Samal Biswal under the guidance of Madhumita Raut.
Our beloved Padmashri Guru Mayadhar Raut turns 90th today. The highest priest of the Indian Classical Dance. At the age of 8 years he started his journey in Odissi. He traveled alomsot every countty in the world to take our culture and giving Odissi a classical status. It's a privilege to have him as a Guru and to be trained under his guidance. Words are less to express the values, knowledge and wisdom that you have shared with your students. It's indeed a very special day in my life and to every student's who has been under his guidance. On this special day I wish Guruji abundance of happiness, good health and peace in every moment of his life. A humble pranam Guruji😇🙏

Dear Madhumita& Reverred Guruji, I found this video today, just in time to wish Guruji on his 93 rd birthday. I was learning odissi from Guruji almost 4 decades ago. It is Guruji's discipline and encouragement for the perfect postures and steps that have held me in good stead now that i have resumed learning after such a long gap.Much gratitude and best wishes,
