Palmer is getting in g special attention from opponents, he draws more of the defense, and his legs take more of the abuse. Therefore he deserves more consideration from his own team as well. We need to tactically move Palmer around to force decisions from defenses. He needs to be allowed to play through difficult stretches to work through his own issues. He needs his teammates to play better when he lays a sweet ball of tkk ok them and they have one or no defenders to beat and still fluff everything. Want to fix Chelsea? Yes, he's trying but it's important to realise that the club has never been about mediocrity but excellence! Besides, he has been well supported & given more than enough opportunities by the club unlike other average strikers like him on the club's books both past and present! Felix couldn't get on the program with Simeone. He didn't fit in at Barca. He had a fair few problems when he did his loan stint with us. Essentially, Felix having issues adjusting to the other 10 players on the pitch is not new. And it's why I absolutely didn't want him back when we bought him. Felix wants to do Felix things all the time. It looks amazing when it comes off but the hit rate is just too low and every time he does something pointlessly complex that he can't finish he's being a burden on every other player on the team. Every time he's making an insanity tackle to get booked and then have a legit excuse to take it easy, he's being a burden on everybody else. Obviously he can look up and pay attention. He can hit those wonderful passes and move the ball with tempo. He can even do a sensible press, when he wants to. But it just feels like his natural inclination is to work his own opportunity to death before considering other options and he seems a bit unbothered about the defensive work. Considering he's 25 years old at this point, he's not even a "talent" anymore. He's one of those adult players that ought to show the kids how it's done. He's one of those players that ought to be lifting everybody else. But he just isn't doing that. Never has done that in his life. And at this stage, I reckon teaching Felix to be a team player is about on par with teaching tactics to Ross Barkley.
