This is the best sur Ron channel so far.
I do like 60% road 40% off-road riding I run the Shinko 244 front and rear and it’s absolutely perfect so if anyone is looking for a dual sport tire that’s the one to go with
Hey Guy's! I just got my 524 and put it on today, and took it on my first ride. Thank you! Im so grateful you do all these videos you do. I like this tire alot! I also wanted to buy one for the rear too. And thank you again for trying that out! you saved me a return too.😂 I'm currently running Maxxis on rear. I ride in rocky gravely and desert terrain. Shinko feels great 👍
those trails are awesome! super-fun and well prepared. you are lucky to have it in your area!
Damnnnn! That snap on box though! 👌
We were hoping someone would notice :)
I’ve rode my sur Ron with stock wheels on straight boulders and down deer trails haven’t had any punctures not the best tires wear down fast but they work
241 front and back waiting to put on this weekend.
where did you find the 241 for the front or are you using the same size on both. I searched all over for a 70x100/19 241 for the front and couldn't find one.
Subscribed. Loving the content. Keep it up!
Tire Update: Now that we have done a good amount of riding and tried out some new tires, we are still happy with the Shinko 524 in the front but have found the Shinko 241 to perform very poorly in any sort of moisture. We have also seen people running the Kenda Trackmaster K760 in 100/90-19 and to our knowledge that is the largest rear tire that fits on the Sur Ron without Modification (except wider wheel). We have ridden it in size 70/100-19 and it works well. It is on the harder side of things but the tread pattern works well both on hard pack and mud.
Good work on the vids and Info. Keep it up! Subscribed.
Yeah front wash out on me all the time,I'm running stock cst dual sport,I mostly ride onroad so I'll burn them down before replacing 😀
Thanks, good video. Was surprised to hear you say that you only changed the front brake pads. I got 2 sets but only changed my rear pads. I hardly use my front brakes since it's way more fun to kick out your rear-end and skid. I sound like a little kid LOL.
It may be fun to skid but it doesn't help you stop much haha. I prefer to do my sliding with the throttle.
@@emotobros i agree, totally...it was more of me just goofing around with the bike. I realized after I wrote my comment how it sounded. I'm sure part of it is muscle memory from my childhood of endo-ing over my handlebars LOL
Just bought the tire iron 5 pack using your link, cheers!
Thanks for the info!!
Thanks a lot fellas👍 Very helpful.
I ride the Shinko cheaters on my KTMs and love them.. great bang for your buck..
Those trails are amazing. Where did you say that was? Post Canyon? Looks like Pacific Northwest.
shinko 244 is a good tire that i between a trilas tire and dirtbike tire i have them on my drz400 and I was really impressed how well they do p
Do you use em front and rear? I’ve been thinking about these as an upgrade for my sur ron. I do mostly trail riding but I also like commuting as well
Great job guys! In Utah the trials rear tire is not as great, too much sand/desert riding loose dirt riding. Since these are motocross FRONT specific designed tires for 85cc race bikes there are tons of great front tire options but not so much for rear. So far the fav rear tire is the Kenda Trackmaster K760 which has a paddle like tread pattern and much closer to what a normal rear tire design looks like. I can't wait to see what you do with an 18" rear wheel, interesting idea...the main problem with the rear tire is it's too narrow and lacks traction and not much room to improve with current MX tire choices.
Hey when you used the Kendall k760 tire since it’s large did you notice your sur Ron slow down in acceleration or anything like that?
Does the shinko 241 3.00 fit without modification??
solid scientific method
Tool links and tire links are in the description.
What is the tube size?
Thanks for the awesome vid. Can you please post a link to the tubes you recommend? Thanks
Updated description, thanks!
The best rear tire for sur ron is kenda k760 Trakmaster-2 100/90.
Do those fit? I thought only 100/70
@@DabSedan yes
@@Slavianskiy_zazim_yaytsami4310 Hey when you used the Kendall k760 tire since it’s large did you notice your sur Ron slow down in acceleration or anything like that?
@@lucasprecision2578 no, it's only have a traction with this tire
I just bought this tire and and its massive. I hope you're right on it fitting.
Excellent video with valid information! I do have question, the "Shinko 525 100/90-19" obviously too wide for Sur Ron, however, you mentioned " Kenda Trackmasters 100/90-19" may fit with no modifications, how so? Both tires should be 100mm wide, right? Or maybe Kenda makes it narrower? Could you elaborate more on this? Thanks.
Yeah that’s just the inconsistency between tire manufacturers. We have seen pictures of the kenda fitting with no modification.
Hey guys, thank you so much for your great videos and all these super helpful tips!
Inoticed that you're riding some pretty high rise handlebars.
What are those? Did your surrons come with them? Could you recommend them? Are they very flexy?
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Cheers
Thomas
Hey Thomas, they are pro-taper 3 in riser bars - 31.8mm diameter. Would highly recommend them for anyone over 5'9" as they give a much more natural feel to the bike. As far as flex is concerned, if they are flexing, I can't tell.
@@emotobros thank you for your quick reply!!!
Hello what's this tyre called could you send me link where to buy it and deliver to UK please? And these will fit right without any cutting?
I just ordered the shinkos and better brake pads
Nice! Always the first two things we recommend.
I live in Australia and find it hard or really expensive to get a hold of these tires. Any alternative?.
Do you have a recommendation for a rear tire yet? I'm definitely getting the 524 for the front but would love to upgrade the rear too. I'll mainly be riding on mud and snow, and some grass. Was looking at the Shinko 540 too for front and rear but I doubt that fits.
im getting a segway x160 trying to get a set of street tires for it can u plz advise what size should i be looking for? thanks a million
Shinko 241 on hard pack and street, is this a decent tire for that combo?
What size is your back 241? Where did you get it at? Thx
Updated subscription
If I'm going to ride mostly hard pack, not much mud, would you recommend the 241 in the front as well, or 524 or something else?
Even if you're only riding hard-pack, the 524 isn't that bad. Sure, there are probably better ones but we haven't tried them so we can't recommend them.
@@emotobros thanks! So still go 524 over 241 in the front for hard pack?
@@HughMcCabe I would say that they perform exactly the same on hard pack but the 524 will last at least twice as long and that is why I would choose it over the 241.
Thanks. Would be interested in comparison to Michelin Starcross MS3 and Maxxis Maxxcross M7304.
Love the channel! Curious how you feel about the 524/241 combo on the street if you have any opinion at all? I ride my sur ron about 80/20 On/Off road and so far haven't hated the stock tires for this mix. I'm almost through the stock tires but dont want to order another set of them. Thanks
Can't say we have ridden them much on the street other than just around the house but they feel just fine. You may even go 241 front and rear if you are doing majority street riding. The knobs wouldn't be necessary.
@@emotobros I appreciate the insight, my biggest concern is that the roads where I live are often wet but I guess theres only one way to find out. Keep up the great content
Can you please post a link for the 241 front and rear?
Check description.
@@emotobros Please just answer, if I want to use the 241 tires on front and back do I get the same 2.75x19 for the front also. Thanks
@@LarryRichelli Yes, as I said the front tire dimension and rear tire dimension are in the description. It doesn't matter which tire you get, the dimension is still the same. You may just be confused due to the front one being in metric sizing.
did u guys put a fox 40 up front
We did! Will have a video on it in the coming weeks.
Cool
@@emotobros Really want to see that one considering how good your other vids are. Really hoping you guys include exact part #'s or links to the Fox 40's you're running. I need something that will allow me to run that 21"fw/19"rw (slightly fatter) setup people are using. Will the Cane Creek headset that Luna had listed on their site work with the Fox 40's?
@@troymuni6120 Glad you are looking forward to it. Fox 40's made for 27.5" MTB rim should be able to take a 21" rim. We will talk about tire clearance in the video. As far as the Cane Creek headset goes there are a couple things to consider. The stock steerer tube on the DNM is 1 1/8" in diameter. We would only recommend you buy a fork with the same sized steering tube. If you buy a fox 40 (or any fork) with a 1 1/8" diameter steerer tube then yes the CC headset should work. You can buy adapters to fit a straight tube into a tapered headset, but you can't go down in diameter.
Something else to note: unless you have a 1st generation Sur-Ron you won't need an upgraded headset since they fixed the headset problems moving into the 2nd generation.
@@emotobros You're the best man, thank you. Being new to this and in the US, I can't get onto endless sphere to ask any questions and details like this aren't available anywhere online. Really appreciate it, thanks. Also, i know what you mean about the headset improvements. However I thought the Cane Creek is still a step up based on the descriptions of both I've read and feedback from Luna. Am I wrong about this?
Is that Post Canyon in Hood River?
Good eye! It is post canyon.
NM. That drive out made it clear 😀. I used to live in HR and have a Sur Ron that I’d like to take on those trails. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos.
Still running the volcano up front? Looks like it working pretty good for you despite how horrible you said it was in the other video.
We are now both running Fox 40's in the front. It's pretty hard to convey on video how the DNM feels despite it looking fine. We can assure you there is definitely a noticeable difference. The trails are in the PNW at Post Canyon.
Hi All, thanks for share your info. What about to put on the rear 3.5 x 19 ? Does it fit ?
Does it touch the chain ? thanks in advance
The 3.5 was definitely too big. The one we got actually couldn’t even be trimmed to fit because the chain touched the sidewall. Seems like a 3.0 on a 1.85” rim is the biggest you can go.
Maybe a little faster with those tires
How are those Shinkos holding up? Worthy upgrade for someone that primarily drives on pavement and grass?
Still rockin! I'd for sure say worthy upgrade for everything other than mud with the 241.
Can some recommend airless / no flat tires that will work with the suron stock rims?
We have two other videos on this that are more updated. Check out our channel. You can go MTB sealant style or Tubliss
Feel like you’re trolling us with the “sure ron”
Could be ;)
Is there a reliable way to make it tubeless or a rim/wheel set that'll fit the sur ron?
Haven’t done it ourselves but people have been successful just using rim tape to seal the spoke holes and using sealant.
I just install the track master and it’s rubbing on the chain? I bought due to this recommendation saying it fit. Is there something I’m missing
Even used your link to the tire
Hey our apologies, the larger sized after market wheels are meant to be ran with the larger sized 1.85 wheels,. We mentioned that we've seen others run this but not us. I've made this more clear.
what size socket did you use to take the wheel off?
17mm. Be careful because that nut can be soft so make sure you have a good bite 👍🏽
..
Hey, sorry to bother you.. Just noticed you got the USD-8S on that bike.. I got KKE on my enduro bike and just ordered the USD-8S..
Was wondering how you like them as there is not a lot of info on them.. I also ordered a direct mount stem and 50mm rise bars to replace the crap steering tube stem and straight crap bars..
Im also going to order 80/100-21 Dunlop Trials Tires with Kenda Super Tuff Tubes..
Already have a Kenda Super Tuff in my rear as I tore the heck out of my stem valve first day out as it came with a cheap 26x2.75 bicycle tire..
All good, what do you expect from alibaba lmao.. I still saved a crap load of cash on my bike and just going to upgrade everything..
Nice bike..
Thanks..
Are you running the stock sprocket?
In this video I was but I’ve since gone to a 56t. We will have a video on that soon!
How much did you loose on the top end? I'm thinking about it but don't really want to loose top end
@@brandonheld1758 Lost maybe 4-6mph, however, I never even hit close to the top speed on trails so keeping that top end wasn't worth it to me.
How do you tie down your sur ron in the truck bed properly?
ruclips.net/video/oNmnBvFhMp0/видео.html
@@emotobros thank you very much!
Can you use the stock tubes in the Shinko tire or no?
You can but they are pretty bad. Super easy to pinch flat or rip the valve stem especially with no tire lock.
@@emotobros thanks
Man I wish the swing arm was wider 😑
What is the size of your tires? 24 or 26’?
Neither. These are moto wheel sizes. Stock is a 19.
@@emotobros Thank you! I am trying to order it from alibaba which is $1500 and they have options of 24, 26, 28...Also looking at reviews of 21' wheels...and thinking towards 21'.
@@veralapochka please tell me your joking
What PSI was the trials tire run at? They’re suppose to be run at like 5psi
We were at around 8PSI. Any lower and the tread wash becomes too noticeable for us.
How about Kenda 760 trackmaster 100/90-19 on stock rear? Does it fit?
We have yet to find a 100/90-19 that fits on the SurRon. If someone could make a 80/100-19 that’d be the perfect size.
@@emotobros yes, it must be good size. Another way change wheel to 18(
That’s what we are looking at doing too. So many better options at that size.
@@emotobros you posted in comments above that the 100/90-19 kenda 760 fits without modification but here you say it doesn’t? I’m confused. I bought one yesterday and it is huge. Wondering if I should even try to put it on...
Please check the dates on those posts.
When your riding at this pace how long can you be out on one charge?
We rode 20 miles hard and had a little over 30% charge left. Performance decreases drastically once you get below 20% though. Hard to say how long we were out since we stopped here and there.
Aren't you afraid of running into a bear?
Not really. Might be a little bit more concerned up in BC but it’s fairly uncommon to happen in Oregon.
Them sur ron stock tires are some of the worst tires you can ever experience on an e/offroad machine, especially the rear.
