Измерь в сантитметрах свою руку, и найди точку на теле где будет заканчиватся 1 метр. Найди место на поясе от земли где заканчивается метр и место на плече от вытянутой руки где заканчивается метр.
Перестань переводить дюймы в метры, просто сразу думай об длине метрической системы.
А если Вы построите дом сразу в метрической системе. То наверно Вам больше не потребуется переходить на метрическую систему. Возможно Вы привыкните еще до постройки, на этапе проектирования.
Переведите Ваш прежний дом в метрическу систему, размеры окон, дверей высоту потолоков и размер дома в метрическую систему. После этого Вы будите уже хорошо ориентироваться. Вы должны посмотреть на размерность в высоты, понять структуру метрической системы. Это как учить язык по словарю не пытаясь понять структуру времён. Без структуры понимания будите вечно переводить системы.

Там можно узнать о качественных материалах, профессиональных строителях(часть он строит сам, часть доверяет строителям), а также по ценам. Удачи
Отписалась от него, когда увидела, как ему бригада начала строить. А он, яко, контролировал работу так рабочие не положили брезент и не обработали зал тую площадку. А просто стали класть газобетон на площадку! Он ещё тот лох. И с бетонного завода его кинули порядочно. И он ничего не мог сделать. Так что помощь от этого Максима ещё так себе.

I loved the tour. I'm a Florida state master plumber by trade. I plumbed-in lots of varieties of buildings and homes, from medical centers to schools and homes in Florida. I was med-gas certified and backflow certified but retired now. Most structures in Florida are metal stud. I find it better than the Northern wood construction. No bugs, fire retardant, and easier to run lines in walls, just need a stud-punch and plastic inserts for piping or wiring. In the 80s, I worked at my ex-father inlaws window company in Germany, AKM in Kleinwinterheim, building and some installation of those windows Those windows function called "Kipp und Dreh-Kipp" in German, are fantastic! Coupled with the "Roladen" (not the meat dish), we call them hurricane shutters, is a fantastic design. The "Roladen" not only keeps unwanted light out and protects from home theft, but also helps with insulation at night. I believe Russia uses the same calculations for Radiant factor as we do, and I'll try to add an example document. I absolutely love the sink drawer idea for missing the P-trap. Wonderful idea! I hope a Russian viewer explains Russian standard building offsets and codes. God bless!

In Russia, you can do everything yourself without a certificate. I am a retired military doctor and when I built my house, I did almost everything myself, all the decoration of the walls, ceiling and floor, I carried out the sewerage and heating, water supply myself. @user-zj3kt3bt9p That is really nice. Building codes and structural engineering design protects from catastrophes. Backflow protection, as an example, protects the entire water supply system from back siohonage of dangerous chemicals, sewage, or cross contamination from bad well water, etc. Window headers and structural support beams are also very important. I'm glad you were able to build your own home, but adhering to a building code norm is imperative to a safe and lasting community.
У нас нет проблем с насекомыми. Я никогда в жизни не видела термитов). В России особо нет опасностей от ползающе летающих созданий). Максимум можно встретить гадюку, вернее увидеть мелькнувший хвост в траве. Гадюка ядовита, но не смертельно). Укус и последствия укуса болезненны. Немного не в тему, но. Каждый раз, когда мне хочется куда нибудь где пляжи, пальмы, океан и джунгли я вспоминаю сколько там всякой опасной живности и желание поехать исчезает. Дома лучше) и безопасней))). Теперь о сертифицированных специалистах : мы ведь не в вигвамах живем))). Просто наши мужчины и женщины умеют делать всё сами
@-akila- I was only speaking of termites in the U.S.. They are active in some colder areas near the 45° parallel. And speaking of construction codes, I wouldn't want a doctor operating on me because he felt he's just capable. I'd rather have someone who puts an effort into studying new techniques and standards. Same with building.

They're freshly there. Comparisons will lessen. You must remember it's what they're accustomed to, and EVERYBODY uses lifes experiences for references and comparisons. And I believe they're just trying to explain differences to Westerners. Sharing cultural differences shortens bridges sometimes. As long as there's acceptance, which I believe they've shown.

Russian builders do not use plywood a lot because wood frame is not very popular technology. Therefore the size of plywood sheets may appear unusual to you. The walls are done from bricks, polysterene blocks or log wood. The roofs are mostly metal. Shingles are considered not long lasting, although cheaper, may be. Metal roof technology does not require plywood. It needs just wood grills, not the plywood. Yes, that is true there are some pros and cons you have to think about.

Even worse with temperatures. I somewhat got used to Farenheit but my mind just resists to that. It seems so illogical! So I still go by Celsius.

As an expat, I understand that you are not complaining, you are comparing. I can, however, recommend that "When in Rome, do as the Romans do." Building a house "like" you did in Canada will force you to buy everything at the highest price. Just because something is different doesn't mean it is better or worse; it is just different. Since I live in Russia, I enjoy the new windows. PS. There is one more step between opening the window you skipped.

Yes, Canadian front doors freeze through if it's really cold.
Its not bulletproof doors. They are made of relatively thin metal, and most likely handgun will pierce it from short distance. Rifle wouldnt even notice this doors. You can also open this doors quite easily having simple crowbar. There is lots of videos where russian police are opening such doors in a mere seconds to arrest ppl in appartments and houses. I'm not even talking about lockpicking lock and other dirty tricks to get into your property.

I love this channel, and your beautiful family! You're helping to change the old thinking about Russia here in the US.
I love the principles my country was founded on: "We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, and are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness."
This is not easy to live up to, and we've all failed at holding to it, and this country's government has done some very bad things, but the government does not always represent the people like it's supposed to.
And now, the younger generations have been poisoned by comfort and communist brainwashing. They've been trained to hate this country, rightfully so in some respects but I'm old enough to know we ought not throw the baby out with the bath water.
The woke religion, which is a godless religion that offers zero redemption but lets its minions become like little gods of deconstruction, is everywhere here, and literally mutilating children whose parents have told them they can become a girl if they were born a boy, or a boy if they were born a girl.
This is getting too long so in short I'll say that Russia has survived the communist mind virus, and all the people you talk to there seem down to earth and friendly. Yesterday, after watching one of your videos, I said to my wife, "honey, I want to move to Russia now!"
Some people there might hate me though... "American scum!" :) ...but not all, especially if they got to know me. I used to play lead guitar in a classic rock band! Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and so on. I survived the 60s and 70s musical revolution here in the US, but might have lost a few too many brain cells. But I'm still "cool."

I used to work as a windows salesman in Russia.
1) We do have American windows (that's how we name them - vertical ones) in Russia, but they are rare - not too many producers. I know one fabric in Moscow - they can ship it to you
2) Also we have double-isolated sliders (plastic and aluminum), but they are expensive
3) We also measure insolation in R value. The guy you were talking to is a fool
4) Putting a gas between glasses is optional
5) Triple glass windows are mostly for soundproofing. Glass coating gives you more insolation rather then adding 3rd glass
"Insolation" means how much sun, "insulation" means isolation. R value is insUlation.

Although Argon (or Krypton) gasses between glass panes provide good extra insulation, excessive sunlight causes eventual leakage over time. But most windows last @ 20 years. There is a huge interior temperature difference between Argon filled and non filled double pane windows.
Arend, I know that in the USA and Canada, behind the front door you can directly get into a large hall or living room. But in classic Russian houses after the front door there is a cold room called a tambur. Dirty outdoor shoes, gardening clothes, a shovel or a broom can be placed in this room. In severe frosts, guard dogs spent the night in this room when it was very cold outside.
This room will save you very well from cold winds or cold frost coming from outside and you'll save much money on heating. At Russian Far North where I used to live we had 2 cold rooms one by one before a living room. You will have a very warm house and you spend a few money on heating if you install plastic windows with a thick profile 70mm, insulate the house very well, basement and roof well.
Having a main nature gas pipeline on your lot property you can install a gas boiler for heating and hot water. Nature gas in Russia is very cheap. It very suits for heating bird farm houses or incubators or greenhouses something what needs much temp or electricity energy.
If there is no gas on the site then install a Russian oven or an oven with a water heating circuit as a backup heat source. So that it can be heated with firewood or pellets or coal. Firewood and coal in Russia are very cheap also - this is a social product, partitially compensated by governor state if your family has many children.
Electric heaters can also be used as a third backup heating source. Independent heat sources are important if you live far from the city.

@@СветланаРыжик-п2е Да, точно :) Я просто прожил на Чукотке, мы называли это тамбуром. У меня был холодный тамбур и второй немного обогреваемый, а потом уже коридор и затем уж жилая комната. В холодный тамбур мы пускали собак в лютую пургу или сильные морозы, которые охраняли наш дом от бродячих медведей.
И что удивительно рядом через границу при таком же климате в поселках на Аляске в США дома не имели подобных комнат, а отопление у всех почти было электрическим и не было печки, ну максимум типа буржуйки камина.

As to building materials, when Australia metrified, we cheated, 4' x 8' became 1200 mm x 2400 mm, 4 x 2 undressed, became 90 mm x 35 mm dressed etc. 2' became 600 mm. At age 65, I can work in both systems, and follow plans in both systems. You'll quickly get used to the dimensions for building, furniture is just a little more tricky. The Soviet Union metrified 50- 60 years earlier, and from a different system to Imperial or US standard, so some measures are different. I'd suggest that you look for the commonalities, and in a year or two, you can throw your imperial tape measure away for a building metric tape measure.

А еще у таких окон есть режим микро проветривания - ручку нужно установить условно говоря на северо-восток. Тогда рама будет не плотно прилегать, и воздух в комнату поступает. В морозы удобно проветривать дом таким образом, и цветы на окнах не мёрзнут 😊

Он скрывает потрепанный вид внешних стен дома. Чисто для красоты. Когда моя семья два раза жила в своем доме то в первом случае у дома были кирпичные стены. Во втором мы обшили стены сайдингом чтобы он был немного красивее внешне
А в нашем городе сайдинг для дешевых построек общего назначения, а дома штукатурят и красят

From my time in Usa, imperial system is just medieval.

Its called mosquito nets and are optional. Usually a plastic frame with a net on studs outside. I don't know about Scotland, but they are very common in north-west russia as well as in scandinavia.

In Russia in building industry millimeters is a standard, meters are used as well, but more often than not you'll see measurements in mm. So your drywall is 2500x1200x12,5 mm :-)

The reason for smaller sheets of ply, OSB or other material is that the sizes are easier to handle when renovating a flat. easier to transport in small amounts too. Most big box hardware stores are more geared towards small flat projects. That's were the 1525x1525 size comes from. When my company buys materials from our suppliers for projects we prefer 2500x1240 or even 3000x1500 sizes, butn then we get a flatbed for shipping and multiple people for handling on site.
Hey Brother. For your measurement conversions, just get a lil app called 'converter' on your phone. 2500cm is 2.5 m is 8.2 feet. 1500 =3.93feet. A meter is slightly over 3 feet. and there are 2.54cm to the inch. 1/2 of your sheetrock width is 29.52inches. Unfortunately, you can't work that into feet and inches and are simply going to have to use the metric.
Its not in cm its mm= millimeter. 250cm is 2,5m 2500cm is 25meters. 2500mm is 2,5m everything when it comes to building is in mm. 1 inch is 25,4mm wich is abit over 2,5cm. Countryside acers:: If you learn 1000mm is 1 meter and so on you will get far.

Building material looks quite similar to what we have in Sweden. The tool brand worx is a decent budget brand good for fixing projects at home. For professional everyday use brands like Makita, dewalt may be a better choice. Bosch has a green serie and a blue serie for tools. Blue is professional and green is comparable to worx.
I have my own electric installation company and I use Bosch blue and AEG 18v in my daily work.
AEG, Milwaukee and Atlas copco were the same thing for many years and I could use my AEG batteries in Milwaukee.
You might also find a brand called Ryobi in the lower price range, it´s something between handyman and PRO.
Many stores also have their house brand series, they can be good to a low cost.
I bought one of those "china" brands for testing and I have used them for things at home.
My store gave 3 yrs warrenty on those and they have been working fine, batteries still works after maybe 5 yrs??

Dear Aneesa and Arend, It took me two years to get used to the inches in construction and the price of food per pound in Canada. :) You can see the thickness of the building sheets yourself and can estimate it.
The area in square meters can be multiplied by 10 to get approximately (!!) the area in square feet.
And 1 cubic meter is approximately equal to 35 cubic feet.
Additionally, there are cell phone apps that will do the conversion for you.
I think that the price of a frame house in Russia is not more expensive than building a house made of stone (gas block, foam concrete). I recommend checking the price before construction. Somehow, stone houses are considered more traditional, and in my opinion safe and reliable. Good luck, happiness and good luck to your family.

По дверям: я не знаток частного сектора, но то, что я видела - у нас достаточно часто люди делают сени (это такая неотапливаемая прихожая) и на ней устанавливают стеклянную, как балконную, дверь из пвх - полностью стеклянную или до половины. Так же видела варианты, когда рядом с входной дверью располагаются узкие окна - вокруг или с одной стороны.
Раздвижные оконные профили, что вы показали, были для балконов или лоджий - т.е. для любого неотапливаемого помещения. Они защищают только от ветра и от попадания осадков, для теплоизоляции они не предназначены.
Дюймы с метрами: проверьте свой телефон, я уверенна, что у вас должен быть там калькулятор. С другой стороны, размеры материала обычно стандартны и не очень разнообразны, так что можно просто заранее составить для себя таблицу с пересчётами.
В любом случае, люди привыкают ко всему.
Вам надо привыкать к метрам в использовании, потому что всё в метрах - и стройматериалы и инструменты и документы. Нет смысла переводить в другую систему координат.

Arend, brick house keeps the temperature inside longer because the inside walls absorb and keep the warmth. Outer walls just isolate from cold or heat. Inside is emry space and isolation. In Russian style design they are concerned with heating fuel efficiency plus heat concervation plus long lasting without expencive maintenance coming together. Wood house is the same except that wood house is prone to fire. Whereas in Canadian wood frame design builders are more concerned with the lower cost and easier construction. Functionality is the last thing in Canadian design. If you build for your own family, Russian technology would allow you to keep them warm and cosy cheaper but it will be more expencive to build. Barns or additions to the main house may be wood frame, why not. So, the trick here is heat conservation, maintenance cost and security. Also think about differences in heating style. In Canada they use mostly forced air, from what i ve seen. You get cold very soon after it is off or if you save on heating. It heats the air, whereas in russian style they tend to heat the walls and floors, and later it gives the heat back into the air. According to my experience Russian design is more savvy, easier to maintain, and it is giving you dry and warm house. Also, please, do research about russian wood owen technology. Yiu may find it interstin and very useful. It is one of the best heating technology, not known by europeans, designed by Russians for Russian climate. However it should be built together with foundation.
