As a really good parkour player and mapper in Terraria, and 3-digit in osu!ctb, i'll give my opinion here: Maps like this *_should exist and be ranked._* It's not about that people aren't good enough or that there's no point in making it because most people can't play it, it's about the fact that the choice for such difficulty *_EXISTS._* Imagine if Yomi yori never got ranked because it was "too hard", then we'll just be holding ourselves back. The point is that, we just need difficult maps out there as an option. Yes, i'm ever-so-slightly disregarding star rating = difficulty, as it can only be true to some extent, and at the highest level of difficulty, it really depends on the maps. I still believe it is highly accurate though. Oh yeah, the maps *should* still be held at good standard and quality. Just because it's a difficult map, doesn't mean you can be dull because it's the way it is, or slack off on the quality of it. For example; I love Rita Summers' "Pino Angel - Searchlights" map. The problem is, 50% of people agree and disagree on mapping 315-bpm certttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt noise as insanely long, insanely spaced streams. And i feel the same way. I half-agree and half-disagree on the map because of it aswell. And my verdict for it would be not to rank it, as to preserve quality and standard for ranked maps as a whole. Now here's my lil bit about difficult Terraria parkour maps. I for one, am longing for an insanely difficult map that is ranked. So much so, that i'm making them myself lol. Even though the community is insanely small, there is that stigma that hard maps have no reason to exist, reason being the same as mentioned up in the osu! section. It being that most people cant play it, or no one will get good enough... Thing is, make hard maps, no matter how hard. *_The option just needs to be available._* (you can pin this if you think this sums up the thang about difficult maps not just for osu!, but for video games as a whole.) (i edited the comment to fix grammatical mistakes.)
They're mostly mapsets with easier difficulties, so I dont see the issue with ranking them. Not like they break anything. Its also just interesting to have atleast a few really high SR maps be ranked
Agree. As said, there are playable diffs. And the Top diff is another way of flexing. Like if you have mates in osu! and you flex FCs sometimes, this is a type of map where you could try to pass this as a flex.
As someone whos been in the mapping community for a while, I think these high sr maps should be ranked as they push the boundaries of innovation to express songs in a more creative way. To be ranked isnt nessescarially to be playable by a wider audience, it just means the map is now official content within the game that supports the song being visualised accurately while not breaking ranking criteria and not breaking contrast rules, continuity etc. I think that mappers pushing SR limits to express a map is more important than players being able to play said map, as if these boundary pushing maps didnt exist mappers would be more encouraged to map safe tv sized farm maps rather than working on cool projects to express themselves. For example, hard maps like the big black and airman were riddiculed for being too hard way back when, but it pushed innovation away from easier maps towards more challenging ideas
I think these maps being ranked is a good thing for the reason that it pushes what's possible while giving mappers leeway to create masterpieces. I'll say it world ender is probably the best one here but that's not cuz it's the easiest, it's because it gets super creative and plays with its objects. Also I play arcaea.
The only problem I have with that is, that it might encourage too many too difficult maps to get ranked. But as long as that doesn't happen, I think having those ranked is pretty cool.
and some players are able to play them, i find watching these plays fun. i don't really see what's the argument against ranking those maps like who we hurting
This is not "the hardest maps", this is maps with "the highest star rating". Hawatari is harder than most maps in this list because it's a tech map, what means that you can instantly add 1 star to it without much thinking. Should've been at least mentioned here. And "easier" xeroa is not easier. In fact, if we're talking about just FC - this is probably the hardest in the game, because patterns are insanely cancer, unlike 2 other maps above that have pretty normal High SR patterns (aka everything being very high spaced). The proof for this is that mrekk recently got barely less misscount on "easier" xeroa on lazer, where is WAY WAY easier to get lower misscount without notelock. For PFC (aka hitting all sliderends) - Hawatari may be harder but I'm not sure.
i think they're still a good challenge for top players (12*+ is pushing it tho), what we really need is some more non techy nomod 10*+ maps. think something like cellar of ghosts but 10.5* or smth
top players farm 11* and mrekk almost farms 12*. why should maps not be made for the peak of the skillcap as well as the lower portions? as a 6 digit, 7 digit, 5 digit, 4 digit, anything even, you arent missing maps. only the players that go above and beyond in skill are missing good, properly mapped, ranked maps. most of the super hard ranked maps in terms of star rating have lower difficulties that 6 digits can play.
@@ChaosEater39 to be fair - those 10 stars are harder than anything in mrekk tops Cuz 11 stars mrekk plays are very overweight and those ones are underweight

Xeroa times 2 💀. I really find it funny that the top 3 has 2 maps with the same song

maps that are super hard that are well mapped and not overweight should be ranked as much as any other..

99% of the player base can't play them? Bruh top 1% is 370k. It's 99.9999% that can't play them
ik this has nothing to do with the vid but can anyone tell me the skin thats shown at the start of the video?
Ranked maps are meant to be played by players. Not to be an art form.

I completely agree that they shouldn't be ranked, imo 10* should be a max difficulty for ranked maps
i think they're still a good challenge for top players (12*+ is pushing it tho), what we really need is some more non techy nomod 10*+ maps. think something like cellar of ghosts but 10.5* or smth

@@givikap120 yes but those maps will end up being played maybe even with mods in the future. limiting maps to the current skillcap is crazy imo.
loved version when? G e n g a o z o is pretty hard
