Great interview Al. Del is quite the story teller, he reminded me of my father, glad he finally got to light his cigar. Thanks for sharing multiple lifetimes of knowledge.
he's a great guy. i was lucky to have met him in 1989. i was on my memorial day vacation and new to the east branch. i parked and a figure came toward me, "won't catch anything till dusk" so we went to his trailer and he gifted me with some parachute spinners worked great, things of beauty, wish i would have saved one, but i fished em. great guy and one of the finest tiers.
Mickey's was founded by Mickey Letterman on South Bay Rd. in North Syracuse. It's on the way to Oneida Lake. Mickey was also the village cop. The boys all stopped at Mickey's for live bait. The current owners are great guys. Mickey's has been at that location for at least 80 years.
I like to get a copy of that DVD also? Thanks for sharing the interview. I relate to the struggle with the fly character on the water. I’d love Del’s DVD.
