Mertesacker is underrated. All you see is Fifa addicts screaming about him being slow. Yes he's not the fastest but he reads the game well and can make the tackles before the danger arises. He does his job well but it does mean others have to cover for the defense to work
i like the way he talks, very smart and knows how much it means to the fans to win games. sometimes mindset is better than skill in it makes you do the right decisions

BFG is a really good defender if you think about it... The *only* aspect he lacks in is Pace and Pace is indeed, quite an important factor in this day and age. He has great awareness, positional awareness, leadership, he even isn't shy to shout at Alexis etc (unlike Kosc) and does well to cancel any airial threat.
