6:386:44 Maybe they’ll have a similar story to the BNSF Warbonnets, where they’ll wear a Southern Belle paint scheme, but sey Canadian Pacific Kansas City instead of Kansas City Southern.
@@Southern_Plains_Railfan They better be around for a long time. It shows BNSF's history before the merger. P.S. The warbonnets sound the best with the old ge steel bell and an rs3l
@@Southern_Plains_Railfan Their passenger trains fallowed the Santa Fe's original mainline, the same route that was used by the Chiefs before them, and the Southwest Chief todays.
awesome vid sir, thanks. Right before you commented on the tank train I was thinking, "hey, there isn't a buffer gondola, what's with that?" We get lots of BNSF unit oil up here (Scenic and Bellingham subs) and they all have buffer cars. Love that ancient ice box reefer.
the desert and the plains are the best railfanspots. there's also random boxcars hangin' around. When i went through AZ, i saw a bunch of SF boxcars so maybe they were selling them out. Great shot of the tiny looking train. never seen so many flat cars together. And the BN hoppers were cool
The Transcon or Super Highways are Extremely Busy and the High Speeds used along this Corridor allow to get their Money’s Worth out of a 12-hour Crew. 👍
Really neat video. I do most of my railfanning in Wisconsin, which has it’s own scenery, but you cant beat the classic sight of a freight train in the distance with southwestern scenery in the background. It’s almost magical. Well done!
6:31 There are 2 KCS Dash 9s that have just been painted into full yellow saying "MW900" And "MW901" where the numbers are, I think that's what's going to happen to them, or they might be double patched or painted into CPKCs new scheme.
Great Topic because it’s something that most Railfans aren’t too familiar with. Railroads have to get as Efficient as possible to make Deadlines & Big $’s. 👍
Some Railroads do a Better job with Maintenance than Others especially when you’re talking about Class I Railroads. Canadian Railroads have the Dirtiest Units.
Nice! There were a few pretty neat catches that went unnoticed though. 2:05 GECX leaser 3rd. 10:10 H2 GEVO leader. (If you didn't know, there are not many GEVOs with H2)
@@Southern_Plains_Railfan Yeah, I've only ever seen 2, but that's probably because I live on a UP line that shares with BNSF. It's also not a very busy line.
Saw my first Warbonnet that said "Santa Fe" on the longhood
Cool!

Thanks for the memories of railfanning the Transcon between Waynoka, and Woodward Okla. Especially,, the Curtis Hill area !
You’re welcome!
Another great video and commentary. Well done
Thank you!
Great video, nicely done our friend! Wow, the AT&SF 40' boxcar find too! (Dave).
Thank you very much! Yeah, those old ATSF boxcars are something else.
@@Southern_Plains_Railfan Your very welcome and yes for sure.
The fact that warbonnets still exist almost 30 years after the BN-ATSF merger is amazing.
For real! I wonder how much longer they’re gunna be around.

It just goes to show that BNSF still cares about its history and the railfans. That is one of the reasons I love BNSF.
Those are some great scenic catches!
Thanks!
That is some beautiful scenery.
Agreed
wow!
The Super Chief never used the route through Oklahoma, they went from New Mexico into Colorado into Kansas.
That’s interesting, I didn’t know that. Why did it bypass that section of the transcon?
@@Southern_Plains_Railfan Their passenger trains fallowed the Santa Fe's original mainline, the same route that was used by the Chiefs before them, and the Southwest Chief todays.
The San Francisco Chief was routed via Amarillo TX not the Chiefs.

Those are actually MOW-only units. KCS has several all-yellow locomotives like that.
@@Southern_Plains_Railfan Ah, now if I could only film one.
@@greaterhoustonrailfan lol
I dont get to travel much. So I'm just stuck with UP and tp&w, but tahys better than nothing.
What's wrong with the Tip-up? The Toledo Peoria and Western is still worth watching, ask The Railroad tie Spiker.
Wait, BNSF Trains can take curves over 20 mph?
Apparently! lol

Nice video sir!! I’m still trying to go out to a spot out there sometime soon

I never really noticed that until you mentioned it, but it's true! I've seen some CP engines that are brown instead of red!
No Canadian Railroads don’t have the dirtiest locomotives all railways that handle coal have dirty locomotives

lol, yes, I did.
