Fallbrook has a lot of drawbacks: it’s over an hour to get to SD airport and 45 min to Carlsbad- traffic during the morning/evening commute along highway 76 is challenging. We live in a high end gated neighborhood and we have had 3 home invasions in last 2 months. The town has this weird mix of military, illegal agricultural workers and the “millionaires”- so the town lacks flow/cohesion as the groups don’t mix well. Sounds from Camp Pendleton are super loud/super random- bombs sometimes go off in the evening. Lots of helicopters flying overhead. Most of the homes are dated and old so make sure you bring a licensed contractor with you to look at any home you’re considering. Remodel costs have gone through the roof. Also many older homes have gas lines next to electrical panels and other non conforming code issues that are fine as long as you don’t update the house but if you do a major remodel there can be a big expense with moving gas/electrical lines to conform to modern building codes. Finally, the gated community I live in has a militaristic HOA, super expensive and increasing HOA fees and a lot of tensions between residents. Make sure to ask actual home owners, off the record, about a particular neighborhood- the realtor we consulted before we bought told us a “sunshine and unicorns Shangri-La” story about everyone living in peaceful harmony- that couldn’t have been farther from the truth in our case. Make sure to meet all your potential neighbors BEFORE you buy….

ROFL! Clearly, you're either one of us residents who try to keep the existence of this place quiet so we don't get bombarded with outsiders, or you live in the Rolling Hills estates with the nazi HOA people running it. 85% of Fallbrook is NON-HOA. You made a bad choice. Some of us like living near the base... sounds of freedom. The illegal agricultural workers are probably part of the landscape workers that keep your gated community looking good. Most of the groups mix VERY well together here. I love how you're just making crap up. Way to go. It must be such a terrible place that people like Tom Selleck, Jason Mraz, Sammy Hagar, etc. all have a house here. If you hate it so much, you can always move. As far as the airport goes, in places like Dallas, TX or Los Angeles, CA it takes over an hour to get to the local airport... and that's with no traffic. We love Fallbrook... the avocado capital of the world. You should move out of state with the rest of the folks. Gives us more elbow room.

I think anywhere you go is going to have pros and cons... But it sounds to me like you are trying to move out of Fallbrook. Let me know if you'd like to set up a time for me to come by and take a look at your home. I'd be happy to get it sold for you!
