I joined a fishing club! I was the only girl and unfortunately the kids were not very welcoming. They also expected me to buy $300 rain suit, thousands of dollars in rods and reels, and thousands of dollars in tackle. Everybody there was 14 or under. Lucky for them all of their parents fished so they could get equipment that way. Nobody in my family, (immediate or extended) are fishers so I have to buy every single piece of tackle I own. Our neighborhood has a yard work service so I can't do yard work to make money, and I've called soooo many places and no one wants to hire an inexperienced 13 year old. 😂 Ive been buying Tackle off lemonade stands and yard sales. During the meeting they would talk about tournaments and I had no idea how they worked. (Which isn't their fault, just my lack of experience) The funniest thing was that everyone went around the room and said the weight of their biggest bass, and guess who had the biggest? ME!!! Just thought I'd share that story to show that you don't need a bunch of equipment or tackle to catch big fish, it's all on your determination and how much time you take to learn the sport. In the summer, (I have my own Jon boat from the '70s) I am on the water for around 4-8 hours a day! You learn a lot that way. Not only that but I've read about 15 fishing books in the past 7 months and watched hundreds of videos on how tos for fishing. Fishing clubs can be great for some!!!!!! But this particular club was not the one for me.

If you fish like i do, you know the smaller and less stuff the better. I’ve added a photo of just some of my gear so you can see how serious i am about fishing.

I am at that Cabelas all the time.. it is so hit or miss. When they get their orders in it's worth it. Otherwise just head to bass pro down the street..

Not sure if that's the Cabela's off of Liberty Way but they always seem to be expensive. I also went there a few days ago and they had everything in the fishing section turned around backwards so you couldn't see what it is. I was trying to get hooks and was turning stuff around so I could see what it was and they told me I wasn't allowed to flip stuff around to look at it. Try finding size 6 circle hooks when half the hooks are out of stock and the ones in stock are turned around. Bass Pro is so much better, unfortunately Cabela's is much closer lol

Just wondering if it would be easier shopping online to get more for less since your shopping for the team. Can the college order direct from the factory to bypass the middle man. And schools will get a discount and little or no tax for purchases. Thoughts?

What tournaments does your competitive team compete in? I go to IUPUI in Indianapolis and have looked into getting some sort of club/team started but I'm not sure how/where to get involved with tournaments, any advice is greatly appreciated!

Go to black sheep they sell exspensive stuff for cheaper. Example 8.99 at cabellas for Garry yumatato custom baits and 6.99 at black sheep

soft plastics are about the only thing I use for bass fishing oh and don't underestimate the little Zara puppy's yes thay do catch big I mean real big bass

It's sad; I have the lamest school system. All my school cares about is football. No fishing. No hunting. No hiking. The school is also only a 30 minute drive from the mountains. There is a pond with TONS of bass, bluegill, crappie, and catfish at the bottom of the hill it is on top of. I've been trying to start up a fishing team for my school but the principle and vice principle haven't given the smallest piece of crap about the efforts I've gone through to start a fishing team.
