Im 8 weeks post debridement for degenerative central tfcc tear. I also have pain from scar tossue on a previous partial scapholunate tear. Questions are 8 weeks post debridement is it safe to go into pain when stretching and should i be weight bearing or lifting at this point? My extension isnt returning at all no matter how much i stretch it. Also i still have a lot of clicking moving through pronation to supination. Wondering if this is normal at this stage
@@alisonmcneilly2711 it’s difficult to comment on individual cases as this type of surgery is different in everyone. I presume you were given some post op instructions by the surgeon or sent for therapy ?
@PhysioMSK not so much from surgeon. On day of surgery was not to go into pain on 6 week appointment I didn't get to speak to him so didn't get any questions answered at all. OT isn't overly experienced on tfcc issues and has been taking advice from others. So she can't answer my questions either.
@ Thats disappointing. Well if we presume this was a routine debridement with no complications then yes, at 8 weeks you should be pushing gently into pain with both stretching and strengthening. If thats goes ok then you can start gentle weight bearing. Clicking with pro/supunation is likely to be some scar tissue or a bit of joint fluid. Keep pushing extension as long as any pain settles quickly after. If you had good extension range pre op then that should return. Best of luck.
@PhysioMSK my right hand has not had good extension range . I waited 7 years from onset of pain for surgery sadly. Pushing into pain then causes me sleepless nights so catch 22 at minute.
Fabulous video. Thank you. My GP physio gave me hand exercises that made it worse. They should have reccomended a splint and rest then. Im 4 months in now and have had no help from GP yet.
Very helpful video
@@Emma_G99 Thanks Claire ☺️
Nicely explained, can I continue paying snooker with this?
Yes, as long as its not too painful.

Sorry to hear that. It is a poorly understood condition in general practice. Hopefully you will find some useful information that will help.
@@PhysioMSK your videos have given me hope that I can get out of pain. Huge Thanks.
