I personally think that this is the best rendition of the Missa Solemnis in existence. I have been hanging on to it for more than a year. Thanks for posting
00:08 Kyrie
* 8:40 Gloria
24:54 Credo
42:52 Sanctus
56:21 Agnus Dei
In the description is says 18:38. The Gloria actually starts from 8:40
Bellissima interpretazione. Ottimo concerto.
My favourite work by Beethoven. Just beautiful! I first discovered this version because it's not contaminated by adverts (always look well down a list to find a version not viewed too many times) But it's such a good performance I don't want to find another, even without the adverts. I've enjoyed it more times than I can remember, and never reach the end without wanting to hear the glorious Agnus Dei again...
Thank you! Nice to hear that someone appreciates my decision to not put adverts 😊
Beethoven considered this his best work aswell.
What an excellent choir, simply great!
00:08 Kyrie
18:38 Gloria
24:54 Credo
42:52 Sanctus
56:21 Agnus Dei
Great performance in period instruments. Fieder Bernius is a great conductor.
I've made comment/s on this before, I think, because it's exceptionally well realised. But just want to say, the first violin/soloist is outstanding.
superb performance!
Exceptional performance 🙏🏻🙏🏻🤩🤩
Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, miserere nobis!
Superbe.
I think the Gloria starts at 8:38, not 18:38. Great video and performance, thank you!!
Outstanding performance
Grandiosa obra
Too noble and elegant Beethoven Missa! Too calme, more than Mozart Requiem and Verdi's !!!
Overall a very cohesive sound for the choir and also the orchestra.
superb
@ Daniel Rudolph: I'd give it a "superb" if the Chorus had more respect for the text. For example, each time they sang the word "Kyrie" it sounded like "yrie." There is no such word. My point is that the Chorus Director should have worked more on their consonants. In the three major Orchestra Choruses I've sung in we were all taught to emphasize the consonants, otherwise the text sounds like mush, all vowels. The Chorus did sing with perfect intonation and that's wonderful. I enjoyed the tenor soloist especially. The soprano soloist seem to be trying to overpower all the others, which is a common problem with soprano soloists from my experience. The Orchestra played superbly. Some may say, "You're just being nit-picky." Well, thank you because being "nit-picky" is how conductors and Chorus Director get the best performance and win awards. And, I wish they'd end the silly tradition of placing the soloists on the front of the stage. They should be back near the Chorus. Being on the edge of the stage is cumbersome. They have trouble seeing the conductor and can't see any of the performance because their back is to it all. It's insane. But overall, I enjoyed this performance and danke for posting it.
ORQUESTRA INEXPRESSIVA, MÚSICA SEM AUTENTICIDADE SACRA E A NOTÓRIA INCAPACIDADE DE BEETHOVEN PARA ESSE GRANDE E DIFÍCIL GÊNERO MUSICAL. ESSA MISSA SOLEMNIS, PERTENCE AO MALFADADO TRIO DE PEÇAS QUE BEETHOVEN PRETENDIA QUE FOSSEM MÚSICA SACRA, LEMBRANDO A MISSA EM DÓ MAIOR OP.86, O LAMENTÁVEL ORATÓRIO "CRISTO NO MONTE DAS OLIVEIRAS", QUE SEUS CONTEPORÂNEOS E E AQUELAS PESSOAS DAS ÚLTIMAS DÉCADAS DO SÉCULO XIX E DESTE SÉCULO XX, NÃO SE DEIXARAM CONVENCER PELA AUSÊNCIA DOS REQUISITOS BÁSICOS QUE TODA MÚSICA SACRA DEVE TER.
I agree!
8:40 Gloria
« Je veux donc m'abandonner patiemment à toutes les vicissitudes et placer mon entière confiance uniquement en ton immuable bonté, ô Dieu ! Tienne, immuablement tienne doit se réjouir d'être oui mon âme. Sois mon rocher, ô Dieu, sois ma lumière, sois éternellement mon assurance ! » (Christian Sturm, recopié par Beethoven, 1818)
Terrific performance. Alas, the otherwise excellent soprano drops a critical high note in the Benedictus at 53:15.
50:22 And also another high note here, I sang this part very often. It is really not easy. But we know that piece, and that's why we are waiting for this high notes.
