i used rog phone 2 in the past, and now use rog 6. as a rog phone user, I'm very disappointed with the update design. the new design no longer supports mobile gamer where the Bezel needed so there is no miss touch, and no punch hole camera that distracting the screen. yes, it is impractical for many customers, but rog phone supposedly targets mobile gamer market, not all smartphone users. very disappointed.

I know that they're not front facing anymore and probably smaller in general (because of the reduced thickness). I would really like to hear about your opinion regarding bass performance. I like the phone in almost everyway, BUT 2 stuff i dont like.. losing the 2 front firing speaker is a mistake. Also by not having a white version. ROG7 white is really cool.. i imagine pairing it with a e-ink in the back would be incredible. But i dunno how challanging, from engineering prespective its gonna be. So yeah, at least kept the 2 front firing speaker. Or ... If you opt from side, made it into two side speaker, just like my other phone, redmi 12 pro. After seeing all the negative comments, I guess I’m glad I’m coming into this from iPhone… I’m not a previous Android gamer being let down, but I’m coming from a flagship iPhone 13 Pro Max, looking for an Android gaming flagship phone…. This is a Premium Flagship Phone But Not what Customers wanted The Punchole Camera makes it as Every other Android Phone ever Atleast the Previous RoG Phones were Standout in terms of Design, Speakers, Headphone Jack (with DAC) , The Colorful Crisp Back Display on Back, etc They Did good with IP Rating but No Giving the Option of Subwoofer in the Aeroactive Cooler is a Downgrade. They made bezels slim but Forgot or Ignored the Bezels gave so much Space to the 'Front Firing Speakers' which already creates more immersion into the audio because of speaker placement. They Could've Added Dual Front Camera with Flashlight if used the Space of Bezels Efficiently. This would have made more sense of having Thick Bezels They Removed the Standout feature of ESS DAC for Headphone Jack for which they were praised a lot They Never Added SD Card Slot Despite of being the phones so thick The Old Phones Didn't have bad design but some areas that Could've made the design perfect- Dual Front Camera with Flashlights, ESS DAC Chip, SD Card Slot.

Ya, it seems a lot of downgrade along with some upgrades, still good enough... And you mentioned that bezel usage, actually I thought exactly the same since 2 years, even mentioned that in some video I don't remember! I thought it could have had 2 cameras, flashlight, and that IR face things which makes the faces biometric of iPhone best, so ROG Phone could have had the best biometrics😅. But then I saw Jerryrigeverything teardown video and saw how much they actually tried to use the space, the phone was soo dense! And it seemed like S series or other flagships are able to pack more or less the same amount of total hardware but they didn't had that room for cooling! The ROG Phone till 7 were maybe the most densely packed phone, that's why it even bended, not much structure, just as much hardware as they could...

Rog 3, Rog 5 and Rog 7 have the best speakers on any phone. Rog 3 and Rog 5 have 7 magnet speakers and the Rog 7 has 5 magnet. Rog 6 speakers weren't that great. But, the Rog 8 is a complete let down.

I'm using the 5s when I transitioned from a student to a full timer, where I seldom work on the field. There the 5s shows its weakness. Scratched screen, chipped frame, constant overheating outdoor, full memory, crashes often (in freaking Google sheets), and a motherboard change. I'm looking to buy another phone, would you recommend the 8 for an office worker? All I wanted is a reliable daily carry with gaming capability.
how i wish those bezzels with the two front speakers and the selfie camera should have retain by rog 8. the sound effect is way better with the 2 front speaker specially when you are watching movies or playing games. i dont have problems with bezels as long as it serves its purpose like the ROG 6,7
I just wanted my stereo front facing speakers the bezels allowed for that now we have a crappy hole punch camera and the normal not very good speaker setup i was waiting for this phone to replace my crapy cheep phone that i got after i broke my rog phone 5s which was my favorite phone ever but now i dont know im extremely sad and disapointed that ill have to wait another year to see if they fix this they had the zen phone for practical everyday flagships The rog phone was the no compromises over the top phone that stood out from the other phones it still looks great but i want my speakers back i was fine with it being bulky and i was certainly fine without a hole punch camera that ruins the screen for me. because verizon use a cloud software autotmatically detect you phone support mmave, the rog phones is sub-6 does not support mmmave. when I use sim card from visible, us mobile, when you pug in the sim card, yous hone automatedly setup Verizon APN, you get are all set.

Honestly im excited for the release of ROG8, but it seems like premium ZEN PHONE rather than ROG phone. Lower Battery cap, Not front facing speakers, the backlight for me is quite boring, the punch hole camera is definitely a downgrade.

I think Nothing has a sourface looking at that pixelated back screen. This is by far the best implementation of a screen/notification system on the back of a phone EVER. I guess you can see caller ID and the TIME in an always on fashion. None of that glyph nonsense. I'd sell my Xperia tomorrow to get this - if it only were a tad smaller. Amazing job ASUS. Can't wait to see the results on the PWM frequency of the screen

Gaming phones are 95% useless because: - Regular phones have the same SOCs and cooling/RAM/flash have improved a lot, so they usually offer zero improvements over regular phones for gaming. Besides maybe some peripherals. - There are also gaming layers in most brands, even in the crappiest phone you can think of. I have seen Helio G25 phones with gaming layers.. - They are NOT developed by big brands, but subsidiaries like ROG (Asus), Black Shark (Xiaomi), Nubia (ZTE), etc. These don't give two shits about support, drivers and so on. - They have heavily customized (proprietary) Android layers, so you can happily forget about AOSP roms. - Support is ALMOST non-existent. I had two Black Sharks and the Android version was updated like 1-2 times. And no more than a dozen of security updates. - Physical triggers. Yeah, ok, buttons are RARELY the problem in touch gaming. I would use much more a physical analog joystick.

You can enable the bezel on the ROG Phone 8 if you want to cover the front camera and avoid mistouch during gaming, so your argument is invalid.

This is the reason I'm grabbing one myself Pro model for sure. I have the RM7 & RM8 but I 100% need that Ip68. Everything else is icing on the cake.

From Rog 3 Tencent’s to Rog 6 official ASUS, I love it, really do but I do not think I would upgrade to the 8 tho.

Rog 8 is absolutely rubbish. Go for the Rog 7, it still has amazing speakers (not quite as good as the Rog 5 but still amazing)
