Was Sana the very first idol who's been involved in a controversy where KNETZ gets angry and did not got kicked out of the country? Wow.. now I understand why jyp did not delete the post or do anything about it.. it's a lesson for Sana.. and for other idols too.. and the fans.. a lesson for everyone.. that everyone could make a mistake by being impulsive.. Sana was young and careless, a foreigner, naive... An honest mistake like that and it's the first one could cut really deep and teach someone a lesson.. not just the person who involved but also everyone around that person to be more aware of others feelings.. to be more careful and considerate of others..
This hasn't been the first instance within the kpop industry, there has been other similar examples. There is a lot of political tension between Korea and Japan, so any issues regarding the two are sensitive and prone to escalation. That being said, my personal opinion is that Sana didn't do anything wrong. If you read her instagram post, it mentions nothing about the political ties or anything else of that nature. She was simply commenting on something nostalgic and wanting a good start for the new era. There is always a lot of scrutiny when you are a public figure but just because she is a kpop idol, doesn't erase the fact that she was born and raised in Japan. The ending of the Heisei is a huge event in Japan, and probably quite significant and meant a lot to her personally. I think the post itself wasn't problematic, it was more the distortion of her words. At face value it really was just a well intentioned post, but a lot of people either misinterpreted it or read in to it way too much. The journalist who initially reported on the post even issued an apology for misinterpreting her words. A lot of people began hating and critiquing her based on those reports without even reading her original post. She received a lot of initial backlash but I think a huge reason why it has died down a lot is because people are starting to realize this and that they were just initially reacting with emotions before they got all the facts. This isn't to say I don't understand that the Japan-Korea ties are a sensitive topic and idols should be more careful. But for this specific instance, I really don't think Sana deserved this much hate over something that was totally blown out of proportion. But this is just my opinion and I recognize I have a bias for Sana, but really, how can you hate on anyone this sweet
@@twicetly8554 she almost barely survive and her career was almost on a 50/50 lifeline.. when i saw a lot of knets criticizing her.. I was scared for her coz they might do a petition and send her back to Japan and remove her from twice. I'm glad that she survived it tho' the backlash will be she might end up being too careful now.. and minimize being playful.. her character will change a lot.. P.s wowww.. you prepared a very long response for this.. I was just amazed that knets have evolved already.. if it's in the past.. Sana might have not been there to perform in the world tour.. it's a sensitive topic alright.. but they were hurt so much that just the thought of a single ounce of showing support for Japan in the old times could really get you in trouble..
100% agreed that this will cause them to be more careful of what they say and change her persona in public, which is so sad because she became my bias due to her bright/cheerful personality. A similar thing happened to Tzuyu too during their early debut days and she became even more introverted, so heartbreaking to see her go through it. As for her career, I never thought that it would've ever gone quite as far as having her removed. Not that it would be unprecedented, just highly unlikely. From a strictly business standpoint, JYP would gain nothing from it and lose out on a lot of profit. They might appease the general public in the short term, but it would upset the loyal fanbase they've built up and jeopardize the career of TWICE as a group. It would be hard for TWICE to recover from (especially mentally for the girls) and JYPE's public image as a brand would suffer (maybe even bad enough to cause stock prices to drop). Considering TWICE is one of their most successful and marketable girl groups on the market right now (album sales, concerts, merch), the short term gains wouldn't really justify the longterm loss. Other than GOT7 that would be comparable, all the other groups in JYPE are relatively new so they're not gaining much profit from them as of now. Also, JYPE has been through it's fair share of controversies involving their artists. It's not that they never let the artists go, but when that happens it's rarely over issues like this. PS - Sorry for all the long posts and if it's overwhelming. I've just been a long time kpop fan and when you've been around long enough you see the same thing repeating itself. A lot of groups go through controversies, some of them justified, but a lot of the times it's just knetz overreacting and the artist always suffers the most with the backlash. I understand certain topics can be sensitive and artists have to be careful, but I hope people realize at the end of the day she's just a 22 year old girl and not a politician who has to represent her entire country. I hope I don't come off as aggressive, I'm not replying to try and make you feel bad or anything. I just wanted to share some of my insight on the matter! If anything, I'm super happy they're doing the world tour so hopefully she can see she has a lot of support from international ONCE's too!
@@twicetly8554 I agree. Following K-pop for a long time and seeing a lot of things happen.. Makes you overthink too if bad news arise for a group.. when I first heard about Sana's news.. it reminds me of Jay park of 2pm.. and fany of snsd.. it's different issues but what makes it similar is that they cause an uproar on the Koreans feelings.. that makes the citizens hates them.. and it just critical coz the power of Korean citizens is not a joke.. just like what happen to that produce 101 bully issue that makes jyp to terminate contract.. and other issues circulating around other idols in the KPOP scenes.. Especially when you know that twice and jyp was aiming for a long term group promotion and don't want to disband or anything.. they want to be spice girls or something without losing a member until the end..
