Great list! We do have a couple crossovers. My top 10 of 2022: 10. Foundations of Rome 9. Atiwa 8. Hamlet 7. Flamecraft 6. Weather Machine 5. Zapotec 4. Woodcraft 3. Endless Winter 2. Messina 1347 (Counting this as 2022 for me in the U.S.) 1. Tiletum Tiletum has since become my number three of all time.
Heat is a fine experience, and I have only played the base game, but I'm not seeing much depth or complexity AT ALL. Anyone with basic common sense is going to play a given situation pretty much the same. The last game I played with three people, we ended up right next to each other at the finish. Why not just play half a lap, or a quarter of a lap ... it feels like to me ... because it will come down to who has the best cards on the final play, and that's it. I am NOT discounting that there is strategy in the gear shifts, the play of Stress cards, but it's pretty by-the-book strategy.
I agree that HEAT is maybe not a deep game, but there is some strategy to it, definitely. In our games, usually the more experienced players win, and it's not about the last turn only. But we always play with the full grid, we play with all the automa-drivers.
Another excellent and insightful video. I came to your channel originally for the big Euro teaches but your comments in the Bonus #4 section about such games and your gravitation towards lighter rulesets with depth and re-playability are very interesting and feel somewhat familiar. Maybe we've passed 'peak euro'?
I'm very interested to see how euros are going to evolve in the future. And not only euros. There are so many new games coming out every year that it's almost impossible to come up with something new and unique. So, maybe we've passed the peak, it's very likely, I would say.
lol. I first read this as the Top 25 games of UK Games Expo 2022! lol We have a number of crossovers, but you have many that I've not played. Your time stamp for the last game says "First Right", rather than "First Rat" :)
My top games 2022 (these are all the games I played): 1. Tiletum 2. Amsterdam 3. The Thing 4. Planet Unknown 5. Carnegie 6. Long shot 7. Revive 8. Heat 9. Splendor Duel 10. Wonderlands War 11. Fun Facts 12. Wayfarers 13. Weather Machine 14. Hamburg 15. Blood on the clocktower 16. Super Fantasy Brawl
Excellent list of games! Catherine seems quite intriguing and I'll be looking into that one more. Heat is at the top of my list whenever it becomes available again. 😊
My impression of Revive was completely different. The map, the card market, the different upgrades, the race for tile discovery were all entrancing. One of my games a lot of my scoring depending on me guessing incorrectly which tiles my opponents were going to flip. So not sure why your experience was so different. I did play it at 3 and at 4, liked both ways, but i have a large tolerance for long games😂
Well, I still like the game, but I'm not loving it. And it wasn't just me, I played it 3 times, 4p, 3p and 3p, and nobody loved the game from the group, and we're mostly euro gamers. Kinda didn't click with us. :)
Going to save this video to watch again at some point, thank you. I'm sure once Heat is available in game stores where I live, I will be getting a copy.
Great vídeo. Glad that you liked só much Heat. I had a bad experience with that game because I was the only person who liked it when I played (with 6 players). I believe if I play with the right group I will like it much more.
I always look forward to your top 25 and comments. I ordered Revive last week before listening to your video 😬 I don’t play as many games but my top 3: Carnegie, Heat and Cat in the Box. Special mention to Akropolis.
Nice video (as always)! In this one we can see some samples of walktroughs with friends, do you publish them? I can't find walktroughs in your channel...
No RISE in your top 25? Old London Bridge? Interesting list. Provided a few games to look into. Based on your description, Carnegie seems to have a Puerto Rico mechanic, true? Thanks
RISE didn't impress me too much, and I still haven't played the Old London Bridge. And yes - Carnegie has that Puerto Rico mechanics which I absolutely like!
Somehow it was so abstract and convoluted for me, I liked it but I wasn't very much impressed. Just recently I played the Bot Factory and I had so much more fun with it! I think I prefer less heavier games than super-extra-heavy games. :)

Tiletum has since become my number three of all time.
Great list, too!
I didn't play that many 2022 games but Carnegie has been by far my favorite one.
Play Turing Machine on nightmare as a co op and it's pretty good.

And it is missing the timestamps for the last 5 games. :)

Fantastic list as well!

Wayfarers is seventh of the “direction” series from Garphill, not fourth ;-)
True! :)

Yes, hopefully you'll play it with another group, fantastic game! :)
Thank you for great review!

LOL about survival games: "I'm suffering a lot at my work, I don't need to suffer even more while playing games."
Thank you very much for this list! I like to see different points of view since I'm always watching The Dice Tower.
Yay finally!!!
Great video! Love tour homest opinion on your plays. Why is catherine controversial?
Great video as always. I love hearing your opinion. Thanks again!
What do you think about woodcraft?
I liked it a lot, but the theme wasn't very exciting for me, and that's the reason why it didn't make the list.
Nice video (as always)! In this one we can see some samples of walktroughs with friends, do you publish them? I can't find walktroughs in your channel...
Thank you.
We do walkthroughs in Slovak language only, on our Slovak channel.

what are your thoughts on beast?
Beast is one of the best hidden-movement games I've ever played, but that genre is just not amongst my most favorites.
Great to see Come Together at #21 🥰
wow, no weather machine? thanks for the list!
Somehow it was so abstract and convoluted for me, I liked it but I wasn't very much impressed.
