- How badly do the Canucks need to get their offence going to compete against the Oilers? Are you worried Stuart Skinner has had too much rest and might be rusty? Who will come out on top between the Oilers and Canucks when it’s all said and done? TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button joins Jay Onrait to share his thoughts.

As an Oil fan. Everyone picking the Oilers to handle Vancouver makes me nervous. Sounds like an upset trap.
Me too. My emotions can only handle optimistic hesitancy..
My Names Dayton.. lol. Yeah this should be a good series either way.
@@Hiddensquid49 Yooo, whaddup Dayton ahahah. Totally! Gonna be lots of fun!
Everyone picked us to beat LA, and look, we did. Vancouver is better then LA, but by how much? They have very little playoff experience as a group, and even if they somehow beat Edmonton, they stand no chance against Avs/Stars.
As a canucks fan, everyone picking the oilers makes me feel the same way you do😂 good luck
This series will surprise a lot of people .
What the heck is button talking about. Preds are the best team in nhl last 30 games of the season. Best power play too.
These hockey pros dont have depth to their thinking. Simpletons.
As a preds fan I'm used to these chuds not giving us enough credit where it is due.
The best team in the last 30 games? You are dumber than the pundits.. oilers have been the best since January..
Do we need to spell it out. “ReGuLaR sEaSoN mEaNs NoThInG”
Preds were no easy task, not a cake walk craig
@@UnhingedCanadian dont let the hockey talk get to your brain. It does mean something. If it doesnt mean anything, teams would compete as hard as they do in the regular season. Its not everything but it means more than they say.
Let's talk about the Oilers and Canucks...oh yeah, and we'll close it out with a Leafs conversation....Toronto Sports Network!
They can never go longer than 5 minutes otherwise the alarms go off in their earsets
Craig the preds weren’t a cake walk, cheese and crackers, like a few other comments, preds were best team the last 30ish games of the season
1:42 i think i would pull my groin if i sat like that
I don't think it works like that
Man's definitely pinching head😂
I’m a grower so I’d be alright, just like tucking in to bed.
Zadorov catches McDavid or Draisaitl in the trolly tracks and this series changes dramatically.
Desharnais catches little crybaby Peterson the series is over
@@Vurrty Vinny may be able to bear hug the whole lotto line like he did Kopitar and Byfield, lol
He didn't do much to the Oil when he played for Cow Town.
@@ocramocram1 NZ knows B.C boy Nuge would smash him if he started taking runs. Oilers ain't worried about La Femme Nikita.
Just like he did 2 years ago when 97 and 29 made him look like a pylon
Vancouver Canucks have been underdogs all season and proved us wrong everytime.
They ran the pacific nearly the whole time what you talking about..
@@dana102083 lol yeah exactly, dont think you can call yourself underdogs leading the season from the front ..... that means we call the sharks front runners by that logic? what a joke .....
Downvoted for wearing a suit and no socks over the age of 30
Lmaooo
It's not the time to get the offense going, Vancouver should have figured that out a long time ago.
I like how people all bring up Vancouver's offense, yet don't wanna talk about Edmonton's shit defense and goaltending. Maybe it'll be easier to score on them then a defense based team in Nashville?
Evidently, it was a lot easier. All that open ice in the Oiler end and the neutral zone wasn't available playing the Preds.
The Oilers play a totally different style from Nashville. The Canucks' offensive struggles in Round 1 were due to the Predators basically playing a modern version of the trap really, really well. Against Edmonton, things will open up because for the Oilers to win, because their defence still isn't fantastic, nor is their goaltending, they have to play more of a run and gun style. If the Canucks play a really structured game and limit Edmonton's Grade A opportunities, they'll get their chances against Skinner, who has shown to be very up and down in his play. Bouchard defensively is probably where Quinn Hughes was in his first couple of seasons, so there's a good chance he can be exposed by someone like JT Miller, who is big on driving to the net. I think it will be close. Playing physical is also a big key. The Canucks have guys who can hammer people now. I don't take a lot of stock in going 4 and 0 in the regular season, because the Oilers play a slightly different game now. But I don't think this series will be over quickly. We may see some games where the Oilers get their way and open things up with 4 or 5 goals, but expect the Canucks to come right back and win, say, 3-2 or 4-3. If the Canucks win this series, their 4 wins will probably be close games. But we'll see. Silovs was excellent against Nashville, but the Oilers have arguably the most potent offence, along with Colorado, in the NHL. Limiting McDavid, Draisaitl and others and their opportunities around Silovs will be key. And I wouldn't mind seeing Zadorov nail the Oilers' top players - cleanly, mind you. You can't take dumb penalties against McDavid and Co.
Absolutely 100% bang on
I don't think the Canucks are any better defensively then the Oilers, and without Demko they don't have better goaltending. Zadorov and Lindholm are known quantities, and the Oilers will have no issues matching any nasty stuff. Would love to have Miller though, he's a great player. Tampa never should've let him go. The Canucks will put up a better fight then the Kings, but the Oilers should win this series, better players up front and more playoff experience, the Oilers can't afford to lose this one.
Wrong. The Oilers have the same flaws as a team they have always had. Vancouver is also facing a different opponent who is more attack than defense based. Vancouver finds their offense and they don't stop McDavid and Drasaitl but do a way better job against them then the Kings do. Canucks take it in 6 or 7.
So we’re gonna ignore Ekholm and Desharnais as 2 defensive juggernauts
Canucks are screwed.
@@Vurrty Ekholm and Desharnais are fuckin losers lmao
Making the Canucks the underdog takes the pressure off of them from that high expectation as the fav to win. They don't need to be high scoring like the Oilers. Keep them at bay defensively & win by playing tight with small margins of error & goals.
Coilers will crap their pants. I can feel it in the air. Shit winds are blowing.
This is great that everyone has oilers winning. Hope the oilers organization is feeling this confident too. There is no doubt the oilers have top end talent better than Vancouver but they don’t have as deep a team. See if the refs try and tilt the ice by calling Vancouver for every penalty. If the refs don’t tilt the ice I think Vancouver has a chance.
Game one will be a close checking, low scoring affair
Button didn't watch the series against the Preds. They had a shutdown/suffocating defensive style that blocked EVERY shot. Saros was on fire and the Canucks had to adapt. Craig's nose grows every time the Canucks win a game. If he starts to praise the Canucks then I may have to pay him a visit.
All the Canucks offense needs to do is score one more goal than Edmonton's offense and it will be just fine.
Craig is going to be in for a surprise!
this is not miami vice - put some socks on
Canucks played how they needed to, to win against a very defensive nsh team! Things will open up, nucks just have to shut down one line and pepper the usually unconfident skinner
The only people that think this will be a walk for the Oilers are you media and a handful of unrealistic Oilers fans. Canucks fans being as cocky as they are due to the regular season, is also laughable.
The audio balance is way too high on your videos. Nearly blew my ears out. Could you please make all your videos way way quieter?
turn ur volume down
@@padawanjesus no it's too loud i can't hear
If you can slow down McDavid, you slow the Oilers offence. I'm sure Lindholm and Miller are looking forward to the challenge
Button seems to have an annoying attitude this year used to like the guy but man this year I can’t stand him
Skinner is completely wrong. Edmonton is two players. Canucks are a team. Canucks in five.
Two players lol
@@tysonseafoot7834 FIVE wins in a row. The doubt is in the minds now. Oilers are done. Done like dinner. Your two players can't save the season. Canucks in five.
Let’s go Canucks
Canucks just stay out of the box and we have this in 5.
dreaming if you think thats happening when McDavid is wizzing around your D at 40m/hr
Nashville not offensively gifted. Best team and best pp coming into the playoffs. Canucks beat a good team. Sorry button but you are wrong
Talent wise not really, Oilers have the 2 best players in NHL McDavid and Draiz.
The fact that the Oilers scored 5 more 5v5 and 7 more PP goals than the Preds against a better defending Kings team in the 1st round probably has more to do with it than the regular season I think.
@JBrix86 thats fair but comparing the last series to this one isn't going to matter. Different teams and style of play.
Whoever uploads your videos needs to adjust the levels, it's so low..
Nah no offence
Canucks in 5
oilers offense is skewed. it's their PP that is deadly. as long as nucks stay out of the sin bin their defense and team defense can probably hold them in check.
The Oilers have scored 4 more goals at 5v5 in 1 less game than the Canucks so far.
Edmonton forces other teams to take penalties against them. You don't take the penalty, Edmonton gets a scoring opportunity.
This no sock Canuck hating goofball can take a hike. I LOVE how everyone dismisses the regular season as if it meant squat. I will be the guy who emphatically waves his hands to say the playoffs are a whole different game, I get it. But I can PROMISE you, that had the Oilers trounced the Canucks all 4 games this season, the talking point would be this: How can the Canucks, a team who didn't beat the Oilers in the regular season, ever beat them in the playoffs? Having said that, the Canucks have their hands full.
TSN has gotta have the worst takes in hockey
Oilers in 4, mcdavid 20 points
This media is hilarious ! We played Edmonton in the last two games of the season … 3-1 victory, 4-0 sweep this year. Edmonton in 6 games ?! Lmao ! They should just worry about winning one game first 😂
Ya Edmonton won 5 out of six before that oh and if you want to skew something try this ...all time record 137-98-19-15 Oilers....😂😂😂😂😂😂😂... Good luck basement boy...
Canucks barely won each of their games vs the Preds by last minute (often lucky) breaks late in the 3rd after typically trailing. Oilers had massively dominant wins over the Kings who are actually a better defensive team statistically than the Canucks. The Kings also had a 4-0 shutout over the Oilers... but yeah a 3-1 (with an empty net goal) should definitely give you comfort in the Canucks able to keep up, lol. Nobody should believe it'll be an Oilers sweep, but Canucks arent winning 4 games lol. Maybe 2. Likely 1.
Those first 3 games were before woodcroft was fired. Oilers have been the best team in the NHL since that point. The 4th game was a close match and the Oilers did not have McDavid. I expect Oilers to win this in 5 or 6
The Canucks played the Flames and Jets in the last 2 games of the season.
if you put merit to the regular season it shows you know nothing about playoff hockey, funny when we rest our top 5 players in the end of season game yet you barely managed to scrap by with your full roster? keep dreaming bud looking forward to how you're coping in about 10 days time. stock up on tissues bud.
